This was my first time here after knowing about it for years. I am very glad I finally went and I will definitely be going back.
It is an out of the way place but definitely worth the effort to find it.
From Tuscaloosa and Northport, Alabama head west on US Hwy 82 like going to Columbus, Mississippi.
About 10-12 miles past Reform you will see a sign for Ethelsville.
Turn left there onto Pickens County Road 75 and go 9 miles. You will see The Lodge on your left at the end of the 9 miles. You can’t miss it.
I had the XL Ribeye and it was delicious and tender. A good steak that is well cooked doesn’t need any steak sauce to make it taste good. It is delicious without sauce.
I highly recommend this place even if it is off of the beaten path.

Another old school fish and steak house. Had fried catfish one visit and steak the next. Fried squash app was soggy. One of my fish was old and very muddy tasting, the other was fine. Fries lukewarm. The steak was very good, and nicely cooked. Service is a little slow in a not crowded dining room, but very friendly. One of us would go back, and one of us would not. Worth a try if you’re in the Columbus area.

How did the $85 special for two people turn into $113 ?? Two teas shouldn’t cost that much, including a $3 extra side. Not including a tip either. They are misleading on their prices. And when we walked in, no one noticed us and the lady at the desk never looked our way, ignoring that we were there. And NO “thank you”, “come again,” or even “goodbye”. First and last time. Employee attitude can make or break a business, along with misleading prices.

Hands down one of the best restaurants I’ve been to in a very long time! From the minute we turned off of the County Road where it’s located, we knew it was going to be a great dining experience. From the exterior, as the name suggests, looks just like a hunting lodge. The inside was absolutely stunning! Too many details to list, but you can look at the pictures in this review and see for yourself! Now to the food! I ordered an XL ribeye with a side salad and loaded baked beans, and it was the best tasting steak that I’ve had at a restaurant! I also added 4 grilled shrimp to my dinner, and they were superb! My wife ordered a dozen grilled shrimp with cole slaw and potato salad and came with hushpuppies, and everything on her plate was amazing! We split a piece of coconut pie, and it was amazing as well! My brother ordered a steak with fries and fried okra, and he said everything was perfect. He ordered a piece of homemade strawberry cake, and it was divine! The staff were super friendly and very courteous! The owner came by after we finished dinner and we learned that the restaurant is family owned and all the desserts and side items are homemade and not from a food truck! If you’re looking for a great family owned restaurant that feels like home, look no further than The Lodge Steak and Fish! You won’t regret it!!!

Had a huge family dinner party and me and my husband were the first ones that ordered out of about 25 people yet my husband’s plate was the LAST ONE BROUGHT OUT AND THE FOOD WAS COLD. He ordered cheesesticks as a app then fried catfish for his main. I had fried green tomatoes and shrimp for my main. The apps were amazing! The catfish and shrimp were both so over seasoned and salty we ended up throwing it away. No… I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant and no, we won’t be going back. Ended up paying a little over $100 just to eat two apps because everything else took so long to come out of the kitchen and once it did it tasted horrible.
