I’ve gone here multiple times with my son, and the place is amazing. It has the absolute freshest bagels! I get the turkey, bacon, avocado on an everything bagel and I could quite literally eat that every day for the rest of my life and be happy. And the desserts? Oh dear LORD they’re good! As good as the food is, the staff is even better (if that’s possible!) SO friendly and welcoming. Very much a hometown feeling! I’ll be back – again and again!!!

There’s something special about a small local cafe that no big chain can ever quite replicate and this one captures that magic perfectly.
I stopped into the Local and Co while visiting friends in Bennington and became absolutely obsessed with this place.
From the moment you walk in, you’re greeted by the best vibes. The space is cozy without feeling cramped, with soft lighting, mismatched wooden tables, and just enough background music to create a relaxed, welcoming feel.
The cafe latte was exceptional. The Local sandwich was a delicious spin on a BLT. We sat here for hours just talking and eventually gave in to the homemade desserts. If I could have had one of everything, I would have. But the brownie and chocolate chip cookie were to die for.
In a world of fast meals, this little cafe is a reminder that good food, made with care and served with heart, always tastes better. It’s not just a place to grab a bite, it’s a place to slow down, connect, and enjoy something truly special.
Cannot wait to stop in again on the next visit to Vermont!!!

While visiting the area, I stopped by Local and Company and was so glad I did. The place feels welcoming right away, and the food was excellent. I ordered The Western — egg with steak, Pepper Jack cheese, and sautéed peppers and onions — and it was absolutely delicious. If you’re passing through Bennington, it’s definitely worth a visit!

Suuuuuch a cute shop, and a great place for a quick bite. The food was fresh. I am pretty picky and a vegetarian, so i can be a tough sell. Their veggies all were fresh, and their portions generous. Their frozen hot chocolate is my favorite treat…as well as the tres leches, cookies, etc etc.!!

The Local cafe in Bennington has recently moved. The food , sandwiches, bagels and treats were always very good. In their new location they have more choices. They now have a cute little boutique. The light and bright atmosphere is very inviting and comfortable. The servers are very nice and willing to chat. Very sociable and friendly. Service was quick. We loved our food. The fresh fruit cup is delicious. My husband enjoyed his breakfast sandwich on sourdough. The bagels are great!

Second one on line, still took 15 minutes after ordering 2 sandwiches to go, to get it served. The chicken salad was one big salt lick. Literally biting into salt crystals, totally inedible. The Cuban on sourdough, however, was quite good.
Would give this place a second try if I was in the area but I’d have to not be hungry and have plenty of time.

Do NOT get the ham egg and cheese sandwich. The egg patty in it might be frozen or powdered? It was stiff and crunchy.
HOWEVER, absolutely get the 802 and grab some of the maple chai marshmallows and barrel aged maple syrup. Where do I even begin with the 802? It’s so perfect. The bagels were not quite as fluffy as NY bagels, but they had a taste that is unique and absolutely divine. The outside was perfectly toasted. The turkey was juicy and tasted fresh. It was perfectly warmed. The apple slices did not distract from the sandwich at all but offered a welcome freshness/lightness. I would absolutely come back for the 802 alone. The maple chai marshmallows were so perfectly fluffy and the flavor was amazing. Couldn’t really taste the maple, but it would make an incredible gift for loved ones at home! As would the barrel aged maple syrup. I didn’t try any (I don’t like whiskey/bourbon or maple… I know I know), but my boyfriend has been sneaking spoonfuls throughout the day.
I also would not recommend their hot chocolate (it’s too sweet for me, and most of it ended up at the bottom with a really weird mouthfeel), but again, the 802 is worth another stop for.

I recently visited The Local Cafe twice for a late breakfast and had a consistent experience both times. I ordered the Breakfast Veggie Sandwich on sourdough, which included egg, tomato, broccoli, and spinach. The sandwich was well-prepared, with fresh ingredients that came together nicely on the sourdough bread. To accompany my meal, I had a cup of coffee, which was decent, and a cheese cupcake, which was a delightful treat—creamy and not overly sweet.
The service was adequate; the staff was polite and efficient, though nothing stood out in terms of exceptional hospitality. The cafe was clean and well-maintained, which made for a pleasant dining environment.
One of the standout features is the convenience of free street parking, which made getting in and out hassle-free—a definite plus for anyone driving in.
Overall, The Local offers a solid breakfast experience with fresh ingredients and a clean environment, making it worth a visit if you’re in the area.

Super cute little place! Just got a coffee today but plan to go back tomorrow for a bagel and coffee and maybe something else!! I grew up in Bennington and remember the space as an office supply shop in the 70’s. My best friends Dad owned it . I wish you much success!

Food and the prices were okay but that’s where it stops. Rude server took our order and then held simple sandwiches behind other customers for 20 minutes because they judged our politics based off of a hat with a normal flag on it. The food wasn’t tasty other than the bacon. Be warned they add ingredients to the sandwich that aren’t on the list. The owner/manager seemed super nice so just a little sad that the people who serve there let their politics get in the way of doing their job properly.
