My husband is a smash burger connoisseur. Every time we travel, I try to find him the best burger in town and The Local absolutely delivered!
The food: I’m a sucker for a soft pretzel, so we started with that. It came out hot and perfectly salted with a side of beer cheese dip that was phenomenal. My husband had the classic double smash burger which was juicy, flavorful, well seasoned, and had deliciously gooey cheese that melded everything together. I had the black and bleu burger which was great! The bacon (which is surprisingly hard for a lot of places to get right) was crispy perfection that I could bite through easily without pulling the rest of the bacon off the burger. I don’t know why this is my weird bugaboo, but it’s something I always notice!
The drinks: The Local is inside Yampa Valley Brewing Company – We tried the Hop Mess Express (Pale Ale), Mad Creek (Kolsch), Jenny Lake Lager, and the Vanilla Bean Cider. I believe all the beers were local(ish?) and they were all cold and crisp and delicious. The cider was very sweet (the server warned me!). Good, but I don’t think I could drink more than one and I’m glad it was my closer.
Service and ambiance: All good here as well. It was a cozy spot for us to have a meal over our visit. The interior is inviting and the service was good.
Overall, would definitely go back if we visit again!

On our way to float the Upper Green we stopped here with a craving for a chicken sandwich. It was honestly awesome. The atmosphere is great. And Chuck, the great dude making the great food, was awesome as well. Definitely try it. (My picture does not do justice after I smashed it to cut it in half, fyi)

Wow!! What a great find!! The restaurant is located within the Yampa Valley Brewing Company. You walk up to the window at the back to order food and they have a few beverages to choose from. Then for beer you order from the bar. Both places were super fast and super friendly! Both offered a military discount! Thank you! Atmosphere was great and burgers for the win!! Ordered 2 beef and 2 bison with lots of great toppings–I loved the green chilies!! Fries were great and so was the side salad! We will return!!! It was so great I barely had time to take photos! New Year’s Day and still great attitude of the staff! Thanks for a great visit!

Great experience overall! Order the Bison Burger!!! Food was wonderful! We got the wings level 3 buffalo and was hot but not too hot. The bison meat quality was delicious. The beer was good not great! Blonde tasted bitter and old, needs a clean finish, the blueberry sour was surprisingly refreshing and delicious. We will be back again to try more!

I’m in town with my bestie for a work trip…from Nashville, TN. We searched online for a place to eat dinner. After looking at the menu, we decided on the The Local. And what an incredible find it was! The food was top-notch (and that says a lot coming from the “foodie” city that Nashville has become)! The beer on tap was perfect. The atmosphere was fun and cozy! The staff was so extremely friendly and inviting! If ever back in Craig, this is definitely where I would come again!

Was completely caught off guard by the complete disrespect I was shown when I called into simply voice a complaint that my order was wrong, not even trying to get my money back, and I was told that they put together the order personally and they know it wasn’t wrong! And that I did not need to order from them anymore. Photo for reference, I asked for my burger to be well done. This was just one of the things wrong on my order. Unbelievable this place can stay in business.

Great place for some burgers! Bison and beef were both good just lacking some salt.. fries were good however the parmessan fries were nothing to boast about. Stick with the regular fries.
Bison: lettuce, tomato, onion, pepperjack cheese, chopped roasted green chilies, house aioli.
Beef: lettuce tomato onion ketchup mayo
Sat on the second level which was a cool view! And we stepped out on the balcony which was cool.

The local mixes great ambiance and amazing food perfectly. We were blown away by the quality and taste of the food and very reasonable pricing. If we didn’t live 1000 miles away, the Local would be a regular spot for us. The Greek gyro was one of the best I’ve ever had, fries fresh cut and perfectly salted.
