I came here after seeing it ranked as a top pizza place and wasn’t sure what to expect. The space is tiny and very simple, but the pizza… absolutely incredible. I ordered ahead and got my food instantly, and the first bite changed everything. This place proves that great pizza doesn’t need fancy decor — just amazing flavor. Will definitely be back!

I recently drove from Cherry Hill, NJ, to New Haven, CT, on a pizza pilgrimage, but detoured to The Little Rendezvous in Meriden after its glowing reviews. It was the best pizza experience of my life—surpassing every pie I’ve had in Italy (Naples margheritas, Roman pinsas, Tuscan spots) and beyond.
Their classic tomato pie is perfection: impossibly thin, coal-fired crust with perfect leopard-spot char from a 130+ year-old oven, bright tangy sauce swirled just right, light cheese that lets the dough and smokiness shine. Crunchy edges, tender center—pure transcendence.
The spot is no-frills and old-school on Pratt Street. It’s cash only, insanely busy (walk-ins are rare), so call ahead—they’re super accommodating if you plan. Waits are long because pies are made fresh, one at a time.
Steve Chehotsky, the passionate owner who’s been there since his teens, was incredibly warm and appreciative we drove hours just for his pizza. You feel the artisan care in every detail from him and his team.
If you appreciate true craft, history, and effort in pizza, this is a must. It reset my standards—quietly the best in CT, maybe anywhere. Highly recommend: call ahead, bring cash, and prepare for revelation. Already planning my return!

Make sure to call in the morning to place your order for later in the day. The pizza was worth the wait! Delicious sauce and crunch! The owner was amazing! 10/10

I honestly don’t see or taste what the fuss is about. It tasted like a frozen pizza with no taste. Hate to give it 2 stars but that’s for friendly service and old school feel. The pizza wasn’t good at all.

I don’t usually leave reviews but this one deserves it. The pizza is amazing, i ordered for 6:30 and the pizza was ready (and still absolutely fresh) at 6:30! Me and my family didn’t finish all the pizza that night so we had some for the morning and the pizza still had all of its flavor and still tasted amazing!!! 10/10 will definitely eat from here again

So happy I finally got to try this pizza place! We ordered a large pepperoni pizza on Saturday night. The wait was about one hour but the pizza was well worth it. Definitely some of the best pizza I have had in a while. Crust is thin and crunchy. This Restaurant is cash only and only sells pizza but They don’t sell slices! Can’t forgot the mention that they have a 130 year old coal fired brick oven! This place is a hidden gem !

Great pizza! Arguably the best you’ll find. May be underrated as a 9.1! Up there with Sally’s, Luigi’s, DeLorenzo’s, Johnny’s, John’s on Bleeker, and all the best places you’ll think of. Consistently cooked to perfection. A must stop if you’re within a 2 hour drive. Call ahead to get a time or you’ll be disappointed that they are sold out for the rest of the day/night. Excellent pizza made by people that take great pride in what they do.

Order ahead! We had a little wait but go quite lucky the wait was under an hour. We didn’t say many people walking out with less than 2 pizzas and we understood why. The pizza is amazing! So crispy and perfect. We chatted with the staff for a little bit and they were great guys. We will definitely be back to try more.

What can I say. 3rd day in CT, 3rd day eating pizza. Making the tour around the state and getting a taste of the best. I have to admit, thank you Mr Portnoy… I do t know that I’d ever get to experience the Little Rendezvous had I not seen his review.
As a gambling man…well ignorant anyway I didn’t call my order in. I wanted it fresh. I almost missed my chance as they shut down for a bit after lunch to clean the grill and take a little break.
They were so awesomely kind to make my pie as the last lie before their break. The hospitality of the owner/pizza maker was not expected. Both people working were truly kind and conversational. It made the 15/20 min of waiting for the pizza fly by as if only a couple of minutes.
There was a steady flow of people coming in and picking up their food. I took my pizza got in the car and headed to Boston about a 2 hour drive.
The idea was to have a couple slices and save the rest for dinner at the hotel in Boston.
Well I got about 25 min into the drive before I ate the last slice. lol. It was crispy. It was flavorful.
That last slice I had almost a half an hour later was as crisp and had zero flop as did the first younger scalding first bite. I will enjoy a pie cooked in this 138 year old oven every time I’m in CT.
