Recap: great food, great service, great selection of craft and domestic beer, great prices! Go check them out!!!!
Inside the entry door one instantly felt a little British surrounded by dark hardwood wainscoating, copper coffered ceilings, black leather upholstered bench seating, beautiful hardwood, mirrored long bar, soccer and rugby on the numerous overhead teleys, and boppy Britpop music to complete the UK aura. Feeling an eerieness in this vacuum cum pub, I began to listen for a voice-over introduction from Rod Serling as my wife and I were 2 of only 5 customers in the whole restaurant. Rather strange! We had waited for the dust to settle to visit after the recent opening in order to avoid the crowd, but this . . . ?
Our pleated, plaid skirt wearing waitress was friendly as she joked about the dearth of diners and half jokingly said that she was happy we came in so she would have something to do. Fish and chips were why we came and fish and chips it was.
A service tray with our order appeared table side in less than 5 minutes; chips or steak taters perfectly done and 2 fish planks each on a triangular, ouija board, planchette shaped plate of that lovely crispy, hot, tempura-like, battered cod. No tartar sauce, but the creamy, mild remoulade sauce, lemon wedge for spritzing, and malt vinegar made me forget it was not available. That fish was brilliant and I ate both filets, oink-oink! No reheat later for these fried beauties. The plate was filling, but mercifully light and satisfying.
If I were to attempt to explain the lack of lunch customers we experienced today I might suggest a remote possibility that it has something to do with pricing. Some might opine the meal we had (2 f&c + Cokes) at a shade over $50 is a bridge too far. Others, just peachy. We definitely enjoyed our food and regardless of the reason, hope business picks up for L&R.
Our experience was top drawer, absolutely excellent. Loved the atmosphere!
The restaurant was bustling with happy people and our server, Amy was very attentive. She provided us with great service!
And Rudy must’ve been a top manager. We observed that he was very hands on and jumped in to help wherever help was needed.
The food was delicious and the cocktails were delicious too.
Try the Scottish Eggs because they were yummy!
We will definitely be repeat customers.
We left feeling really happy that we decided to go there.
I give the restaurant 5 stars for cleanliness, delicious food, atmosphere & friendly service.
