The images below highlight a few standout dishes from several of our visits, including the pork belly, steak tartar, Beef Wellington, and a beautifully presented pastry dessert. Each dish was thoughtfully prepared by Chef Gabe, with excellent flavor, balance, and presentation. They’re also probably the only place in SA serving a true German Bitburger (est. 1817) on draft, which is a real standout. Overall, it’s a wonderful place to unwind, with a warm and welcoming team. Special thanks to managers Reed and Rudy for the exceptional hospitality!

Wonderful service, friendly staff and great menu. Food is excellent and reasonable priced. Lots of fun and atmosphere. Best happy hour around, lots of specials and appetizers at reduced prices plus discounts on great craft beers on tap. The food is outstanding, hit and quickly served. Nice portions-

Everyone is friendly, courteous, and kind! The food is always delicious. All the servers are excellent but if you are there on a night that Mainina is serving ask for her you will not regret the five star service you will receive. Posted for the Lion and Rose at the Dominion.

Food was okay. But Schnitzel size is all over the place, we got a small piece of schnitzel and didn’t think much of it. Then as we were walking out, we saw another guy with a schnitzel at least twice the size. I understand variations in the sizes of ingredients, but a restaurant should serve a standard amount of food per portion if they charge the same price for it. Picture below.

We enjoyed an afternoon here with friends. There was live music and plenty of activity outside, as well as some great games to watch indoors. The food and drinks were good, but service was a bit slow and the prices are a bit high, but overall, it was a good experience.

Came here for my birthday. Fantastic food, beer selection, and pricing. The Scotch Egg was like heaven. I ordered the Tour of Britain. Very happy with everything. Our server Vivian made the afternoon fantastic.

Amazing food, atmosphere and service! Our waitress Angelica was not only prompt, attentive but also gave us amazing suggestions that brought us out of our comfort zone to try! Everything she suggested was even better than we imagined! We will definitely be back! Perfect TV locations with extra large TV’s to watch games & any sports on throughout the whole restaurant, not just at the bar. A must try!!!! We will be back soon!!!

It tends to give one pause when pulling into a restaurant parking lot and there are maybe one or two cars. One is likely to think the place is closed or worse, the food is awful and diners are staying away in droves. We had called ahead and knew that they were open . . .

Inside the entry door one instantly felt a little British surrounded by dark hardwood wainscoating, copper coffered ceilings, black leather upholstered bench seating, beautiful hardwood, mirrored long bar, soccer and rugby on the numerous overhead teleys, and boppy Britpop music to complete the UK aura. Feeling an eerieness in this vacuum cum pub, I began to listen for a voice-over introduction from Rod Serling as my wife and I were 2 of only 5 customers in the whole restaurant. Rather strange! We had waited for the dust to settle to visit after the recent opening in order to avoid the crowd, but this . . . ?

Our pleated, plaid skirt wearing waitress was friendly as she joked about the dearth of diners and half jokingly said that she was happy we came in so she would have something to do. Fish and chips were why we came and fish and chips it was.

A service tray with our order appeared table side in less than 5 minutes; chips or steak taters perfectly done and 2 fish planks each on a triangular, ouija board, planchette shaped plate of that lovely crispy, hot, tempura-like, battered cod. No tartar sauce, but the creamy, mild remoulade sauce, lemon wedge for spritzing, and malt vinegar made me forget it was not available. That fish was brilliant and I ate both filets, oink-oink! No reheat later for these fried beauties. The plate was filling, but mercifully light and satisfying.

If I were to attempt to explain the lack of lunch customers we experienced today I might suggest a remote possibility that it has something to do with pricing. Some might opine the meal we had (2 f&c + Cokes) at a shade over $50 is a bridge too far. Others, just peachy. We definitely enjoyed our food and regardless of the reason, hope business picks up for L&R.

My daughter and I thought we would check out the new location of The Lion & The Rose and I’m so glad we did.
Our experience was top drawer, absolutely excellent. Loved the atmosphere!
The restaurant was bustling with happy people and our server, Amy was very attentive. She provided us with great service!
And Rudy must’ve been a top manager. We observed that he was very hands on and jumped in to help wherever help was needed.
The food was delicious and the cocktails were delicious too.
Try the Scottish Eggs because they were yummy!
We will definitely be repeat customers.
We left feeling really happy that we decided to go there.
I give the restaurant 5 stars for cleanliness, delicious food, atmosphere & friendly service.

We just happened to stop by on a whim while visiting from out of town for a work trip. Our party of 3 had an amazing time! The food was amazing. We ordered the Brussels sprouts, Reuben, vegetable curry, and lasagna soup. Everything was so delicious, we were stuffed! The entire staff was kind and attentive. We were checked in repeatedly. The place is cute, food was great, literally nothing to complain about on our visit. If I lived closer, I’d be coming more often!
