Was looking for food in the area and stumbled upon this place. I went and got the Oxtail platter with rice and pea and cabbage. The food was delicious very authentic taste. The oxtails were flavorful, tender and they gave you about 6 nice size cuts of the oxtail. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone in the area looking for authentic Jamaican food.

If you want a true taste of Liberia, you have to order the Palm Butter. It is incredibly rich, silky, and packed with deep, smoky flavor. The sauce is thick and “buttery” (just like the name says), with a perfect kick of heat that cuts through the richness.

It’s unbelievable but in Oxford Valley Mall in the food court is a Liberian restaurant masquerading as a Jamaican spot. This is some of the best Liberian food in the area – better than Kings & Queens and some spots in Africatown. The lady who cooks is very friendly and is a patient Lofa woman with another restaurant as well. Everything and I mean EVERYTHING is tasty and peppered just right. 10/10 would recommend and come again!! Thank you Patience!!
On regular rotation is casava leaf, palm butter and fried spinach but she usually has potatoe greens (red oil and fried) hiding in the back. Fufu is made with plantain instead of casava. All are amazing!!

Best jerk chicken I’ve ever had! Trust me, I’ve been to a lot of places for jerk chicken and oxtail, but nothing compares to this. I even bought oxtail for my parents and they loved it. The customer service is great too. Everyone is very friendly and welcoming.

Saw this place in the mall food court while there with family. I’m not usually up for the standar mall food court offerings but, having been to Jamaica for vacation previously, we thought we’d give it a try. So happy that we did.
Lighthouse serves traditional Jamaican and African dishes, including jerk chicken, oxtail, and cassava leaf. The staff there is extremely friendly, and when the woman at the register saw that I was trying to decide between different dishes, she proactively offered me samples to help me make my choice.
While all the items we sampled tasted great, we went with an order of the jerk chicken, fried plantains, with the pigeon peas rice. (An extra Jamaican Chicken patty as well to try) Worth mentioning that they recommended oxtail curry sauce poured over the top of the rice…which we found was absolutely a great recommendation.
Even though we ordered a medium size platter.. the portions were very generous at a fair price. The flavors were extremely authentic and had us feeling like we were sitting back in a home style kitchen in Kingston somewhere. The chicken was tender and well spiced with the jerk (If you have never had jerk, it’s a need to try but just make sure you have a beverage because there is a kick!) . Our rice and peas had the right texture to compliment the chicken while the plantains tasted fresh and, combined with everything else, provided that perfect “spicy-savory-sweet” combo. As for the patty…the meat inside was delicious while the pasty outside was warm and flaky.
I definitely reccomend trying this place and we will absolutely be back for more. We need more authentic tasting food in this area aside from the normal chains…so I hope that our local community supports their success.

The first time I came here I tried the stewed chicken with white rice. I loved the dish so much that I came back that same day to try the potato greens. Omg the chicken, the meat, the beef, everything is seasoned to perfection! It’s giving tendernism! I can’t wait to go back & try other dishes! The team is also great! Princess & her crew are sweethearts! Service was amazing.

I had an amazing experience at the Light house “ Jamaican “ spot at Oxford valley…Their oxtail is absolutely delicious—tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection. You can really taste how fresh the food is, from the perfectly seasoned sides to the rich, homemade sauces. It feels truly local, like a hidden gem that takes pride in authentic flavors. The customer service was excellent from start to finish, with friendly staff who made the whole visit welcoming and enjoyable. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Jamaican/African food. Especially if you have an interaction with the chef! She is the best! Her smile and her beautiful accent makes the experience even better. I have recommended this spot to all my local family and friends.

Bring your business here if you want authentic, home made cooking that’s made with love and care! The woman who works here is always so sweet and easy to talk to. The food is REAL FOOD, fresh and absolutely delicious! They have not only Jamaican food but African food as well. So far I have only tried the Jamaican food but plan on trying the fufu the next time I go. When I went before I had the brown stew chicken with the rice and plantains. The portion sizes are huge and you can split it into two or three different meals! If you want to support a kind hearted soul and try some real food come here 🙂

This is truly my favorite Jamaican/African restaurant, and it deserves every bit of praise! The food here is consistently incredible. The oxtail is always tender and seasoned perfectly, the curry chicken is full of rich flavor, and the potato leaves are so delicious and comforting.. just like home cooked food.
Every dish tastes fresh, authentic, and made with real care. The portions are generous, and I always leave satisfied and excited to come back. The staff are friendly, welcoming, and make you feel like family from the moment you walk in.
If you’re craving flavorful, authentic Jamaican or African cuisine, this place is an absolute gem. I recommend it to everyone!
