I ordered delivery and was extremely disappointed with the quality and care of this meal. The packaging was poorly secured, causing the entire order to leak through the bag and create a mess before I even opened it. Upon inspection, I found a long strand of hair in the cabbage, which is not only unappetizing but also a serious food safety concern.
The oxtails were excessively salty, to the point where they were nearly inedible. As someone who works in the food service industry, I understand the challenges of high-volume preparation, but this was a careless and unacceptable presentation of what should be a flavorful and comforting dish. I would’ve preferred to be told the item was unavailable rather than be served something of this poor quality.
For $33, I expected care, cleanliness, and at least decent flavor. This was a terrible representation of the restaurant, and I won’t be ordering again.

I genuinely want to give this restaurant 5 stars. I love the food but the Mac and cheese is wayyy too inconsistent. One day it creamy, cheesy and delicious. Another time it’s dry and tastes like soap. There needs to be one recipe used for the Mac and cheese always. The dry one is not good at all. When it’s creamy it’s the best. I hope this review is helpful. I tend to like the other menu options when I visit every once in a while

Ordered a large oxtail and literally got less on the plate than the guy ahead of me qith a MEDIUM. My plate is 90 percent rice and the beef patties taste like they are right out of a box. Used to love coming here. Never again. Highly recommend against coming here for decent sized plates. Especially with what they charge.

My first thoughts when coming inside was wow this food smells good. I ordered the oxtails, rice & beans, Mac & cheese & plantains.
Let’s start by saying this place did not have a welcoming atmosphere. The Mac & cheese was nasty no flavor barely any cheese it was just noodles, I’ve could have gotten better Mac @ Popeyes. The rice & beans not seasoned it was pretty bland. Only reason why I’m giving them 3 stars is the oxtails were decent & so was the plantains but how can you mess those up??? – this was my first impression of them.

I love this restaurant, my boyfriend and I get dinner there often and the staff is always so friendly and welcoming. The food is absolutely delicious and the portion is great for the price. I would recommend. The brown stew chicken and oxtail is our favorite but I’m sure their other options are just as delicious!

FIRST TIMER HONEST REVIEW: I came on a Thursday (since they have different chiefs on different days). I had the oxtail large plate (oxtails was SOO TENDER, and SEASONED TO PERFECTION). I LITERALLY couldn’t stop eating it 10/10. On the side I had fried Plantains (they was soft on the inside ⭐️with still holding a lot of flavor) and the steamed cabbage (wasn’t my favorite because I don’t prefer my cabbage crunchy). Also, I had a beef patty (not a lot of meat but still can taste that it’s well SEASONED) I WILL be coming back and I’m excited to try their curry goat since the oxtails was so delicious.

As a native New Yorker who’s frequented my Jamaican homes of coworkers throughout the years, I would say my palate is fairly versed in this type of food. Today my wife had a taste for Jamaican food, and there aren’t many options in Pa.. She searched and found Lighthouse and told me it was 30 minutes away and I said ok, let’s go. I expected high prices because that’s a standard for Jamaican cuisine, but we were not expecting the heavy handed pepper ️ flavor throughout both dishes. We ate for about a few minutes and the sting from the Scotch Bonnet was more than I wanted to deal with as my first meal of the day.
So my wife is Jamaican and Chinese and we’ve been together for 18 years so again I’m pretty exposed to this style of food. We couldn’t finish either plate. Both dishes were cooked the same way and varied only in the shade of brown each was. One was Oxtail and Cabbage, the other Stewed Beef. Both overly peppery and neither with any real flavor unfortunately. The Mac n Cheese helped with the taste a little but no much.

Not only was the food exactly how I like it the portions are big. I got a small rice and peas with oxtail gravy on it and cabbage, with a beef patty. Everything only came to $9 and some change. I love how the oxtail gravy is not sweet I can’t stand sweet oxtails and the cabbage was perfect not extremely soft but not too crunchy literally just right. Beef patty was flaky and soft and flavorful! I will be coming here for lunch breaks now that I’ve discovered them!!!!

Ordered food for delivery. Food arrived cold. Side of Mac and cheese was missing so I only received rice and peas and a bunch of mushy (fat) and bone from the oxtail and way to much sauce , It was also too spicy I couldn’t eat it and My dog wouldn’t even eat it so that was $30 in the trash . That was my first and last time ever ordering from this restaurant . If u want good Jamaican food in the area go to ( Jeans kitchen ) order a large oxtail platter with rice and peas Mac n cheese and green beans. You’re gonna want a large because they are so good and very professional .
