Naturally leavened bread is our specialty. Not only does it taste better, it is healthier for you. We mill our flour from ancient grains. Baked from scratch daily, we use an ancient method of slow fermentation. These methods bring out distinct flavors that stand out from your standard bakery.

Truly something special! We went for breakfast and had incredible bagel sandwiches. One of the traditional breakfast items and one lunch sandwich on a bagel. The bagels were freshly made and the ingredients were combined in expert ways. The team was very friendly and happy to answer questions, with amazing service. Everything was so great that I also bought a loaf of their specialty sourdough bread on the way out – also freshly made! 10/10 would definitely recommend!

What a wonderful bakery for sourdough lovers like me! This university professor with a PhD in IT bakes a variety of delicious breads from scratch, with lots of love and kindness added into his cooking, sprinkled with genuine smiles and plenty of generosity.

It’s family-owned, and his grand-daughter answered the phone when I called. His son works there too and makes divine coffee.

I bought many loafs of various bread.

I also purchased organic coffee, raw-milk yogurt, angus meatballs, angus burger, and more…

I loved EVERYTHING and will be back soon for sure! This shop smells great, like real home, and the people I met here (customers) were open-minded, kind, friendly, and interesting.

I went for a walk by the river after lunch here, and the river is just a few minutes away.

This is heaven for me

Attending the SCASL conference at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center, I looked up “French” on GMaps, searching for a quick non-chain takeout lunch. Levantine Bakery popped up nearby, located at the Farmers Market XChange, tucked behind CityArt. So glad to have found this great small business! It is in an old industrial building, great open space, and has several counters under one roof–a bagel bakery, bread, a sandwich and hot food counter, a butcher, and various farm-fresh veggies and prepared food fridges. I had the Tractor–roast beef, cheese, lettuce with a delicate horseradish aioli on their freshly baked sourdough bread. It was a very generously-sized sandwich, stacked with house-roasted beef, not funky slimy sliced deli beef. Delicious! The space reminds me of Mercantile & Mash in Charleston but without the mixed drinks, so it is very mellow. Great service from the family/staff. Go there!
