The Lemon Tree in London is a charming and cozy pub that perfectly blends warmth, great food, and friendly atmosphere. It offers an impressive selection of beers and ciders, alongside a menu that caters to every craving—from classic British fish and chips and comforting eggs on toast to authentic, flavorful Thai dishes. The service is welcoming, the ambiance relaxed, and the crowd always cheerful, making it an ideal spot whether you’re dropping in for a casual drink or settling down for a satisfying meal.

A lovely freehold pub just like the harp and marquis. Refreshing in central London. Shows the footie and is less touristy (and cheaper and usually less busy) than the marquis. Far better than the Chandos. Also do amazing Thai food upstairs, even better than the restaurant next door. Lovely casks. They accept cash and it can get busy (like all central London pubs can in the west end) and you’ll find a lot of musicians from nearby shows have an after show drink in there. A little gem indeed.

Very nice little pub with reasonably priced drinks downstairs and delicious Thai food upstairs.

Maybe I’m too used to London pricing, but £6 for a pint of Aspalls left me pleasantly surprised.

Thai food was very good. The Pad Kra Pow was very tasty but too hot for me. The spice level took away some enjoyment for me.

I will definitely come again, maybe order something a little milder next time

Great hidden gem. The Thai food was delicious and such a decent price for the location. Definitely recommend. Hubby said he could eat his dish 3 or 4 times over.

2 of us, got an entree each and a beer, 48 pound total. Food was good, service was quite slow on a Thursday evening.

There is an unmentioned 10% service charge, so deducting a star for that.

Dodging the hordes of people, we didn’t think we would find any place for dinner that wasn’t packed. What a nice surprise to find The Lemon Tree! A small nice Thai restaurant upstairs from the bar, we were sure it couldn’t be any good. The food and atmosphere was fantastic! There are only about 6 tables, but the service was excellent and the food delicious! I had the fried rice with chicken, and my wife had the pad Thai. They were both excellent, filled with vegetables and large chunks of chicken. The prices were very reasonable. I would recommend you give this quaint restaurant a try. Highly recommended!

I have visited this pub many times over the years, and the Thai food is consistently good. I was lucky that I was early enough that there was plenty of space upstairs, but other times it is incredibly busy.

❤️ An easygoing backstreet Covent Garden pub.
.
Located in a quiet side street on the edge of Covent Garden you will find The Lemon Tree pub. The nearest station is Charing Cross which is just around the corner on The Strand.
.
It is thought this pub takes its name from lemons sold at the nearby former Covent Garden market, this pub dates from the mid-18th century, it was rebuilt around mid 19th century.
.
This is a small pub which in the main modern in decoration. The bar area is full of poser tables and ledges to perch at, at the far end of the bar is the curved servery which is illuminated by stylish copper pendants. On the wall is a massage map called “A ballon view of London “ which depicts London’s streets of old. Upstairs is an additional contemporary lounge bar which is a cosy affair and quieter than the humdrum of the main bar on the ground floor.
.
The beer line up was good, there are five cask handles but only three were available on the day we visited. Not venturing to far off piste, we ordered a couple pints of Amstel. Our pints were decent and pleasingly under six quid considering the area. The food menu here is Thai, the food receives favourable reviews, Pad Thai costs around £12 depending on your choice.
.
We arrived around 6pm on a Saturday, the pub was very busy with predominantly drinkers, there were a few punters enjoying the Thai cuisine which smelt great. There was a nice buzz about the place generated by the groups of day trippers and theatre goers wetting their whistles. The service was on point, the staff coped admirably with rush and flow of customers.
.
The Lemon Tree is probably the least busiest pub around Covent Garden due to its location, though this isn’t a bad thing as The Marquis and The Harp just around the corner get absolutely rammed. The beer and food here were great and the atmosphere enjoyable. If you’re in and around Covent Garden, be sure to check this pub out.

The Lemon tree is a quaint pub in the centre of London. I thought it would be extremely busy since it was 19:00 on a Saturday night but it wasn’t. Downstairs was full of people, but the upstairs was completely empty.
I ordered a chicken satay, mini ribs and a duck red curry with fried egg. The food was ok, I enjoyed the Guinness though
The staff were really nice, attentive and didn’t mind my jokes which was nice.
If you’re in the centre of London and you’re looking for a drink and Thai food, then the lemon tree is for you.

Although I love both The Harp and The Marquis just around the corner, they can get absolutely rammed. The Lemon Tree is a great alternative, particularly if you love cask ales.

A small, single room bar, with an upstairs dining room serving Thai food. Four real ales on offer at the time of my visit (a Saturday lunchtime). My Harvey’s Sussex Best was well-kept and reasonably-priced for the area.

Friendly staff and more of a locals’ feel to it. Also plenty of tables available. Definitely worth a visit.
