We just discovered this adorable new Sellwood edition. Opened in July according to the bartender. We are big fans of Matt’s BBQ taco so this was an easy decision to stop in for a little lunch. We ordered the brisket taco (always a win), holy smokey deliciousness! With a side of the cherry chipotle bbq sauce which is BOMBER! Just enough heat that wakes up the mouth but doesn’t linger and leave you regretting your choice.
Also got a side of queso and chips. Solid flavor, good texture, freshly made chips, solid win on this one.
Drinks were delicious, service is friendly and quick, very Midwest last 60’s early 70’s vibe that fits the vintage shops in this part of town. We will be back for sure!

I had the pork belly and brisket tacos and they were delicious. My friends got same plus one of breakfast tacos that they said was amazing. The texture of the tortillas was sooo good.
Cocktails were great (it was hard to choose, a lot of good options). Not overly sweet and well balanced. I definitely want to go back and try different tacos and more cocktails.

Such great tacos! Our friends brought us here for dinner while we were visiting and it was so good. They have vegetarian options and we loved both the beyond meat and mushroom tacos. Lots of apps and drink options too.

Finally made it in and I’m glad I did. Sellwood’s got another killer spot to add to the list. The vibe is super chill: unpretentious, solid decor, just easy to hang in. Even when the line looks long, everything moves quick and smooth. The tacos are packed with flavor (that mushroom taco is already a repeat order in my head). Cocktails? Every single one was dialed in and thoughtful — you can tell the menu was built with care. And the hospitality was spot on; I was always being checked on without it ever feeling over the top. Definitely a place I’ll be back at often.

So good! I got the Miami nice sushie and it was perfect. I also ordered the smoked mushroom fajita taco (which was my favorite), the chopped brisket taco, and the turkey guacamole and cheddar taco. Everything was super delicious and the ingredients fresh. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the food. Super generous portions on these tacos. Laid back atmosphere. Grab a menu, order at the bar, and seat yourself.

This is the kind of place that makes me rethink how I evaluate things. Maybe it’s the hype or something but it just sort of left me going “Yeah, pretty good.” Service was awesome and the price wasn’t bad for what you get but would I would I drive past the places I did again to get here? Probably not. Would I visit if I was nearby? Maybe. Would I be pleased if this was walking distance from my house? Sure.
I dunno, do with that what you will. Odds are if I return it will be because my vegan daughter wants to try the quite tasty smoked mushroom taco.

Yet another killer bar from the people that brought us Holy Ghost, Paydirt, Old Gold, Hi-Top, and Tough Luck but with Matt’s BBQ Tacos food as an extra bonus. The cocktails were on point, crispy, and bright, a perfect foil for the rich, flavorful food.
This was their second week open yet the service, food, drinks, and music were on point. An eclectic mix of 90’s and 00’s blues rock and alternative only added to the stellar vibe.
This is going to be an institution once they hit their stride and open for service 7 days a week. For now it’s counter service, so know what you want and be patient and you’ll be handsomely rewarded.

So glad another Matt’s BBQ location opened up closer to home. Good outdoor seating and the cocktail bar combo of this location is a wonderful pairing. This part of the sellwood Moreland area was much quieter previously but now a bustling atmosphere in the area thanks to this spot opening up.
