I like that the plates are made for sharing, like family style, so you can try multiple dishes. We ordered the delicata squash, crispy cauliflower, gnocchi, garlic fries, and pork chop. I can’t begin to describe how incredible the mixture of ingredients in each dish was. My favorite was the gnocchi that is pan fried so that along with its pillowy softness you get a little bit of crunch with each bite.
There are so many other items on the menu I want to try that I can’t wait to go back. This is a must try when you’re downtown.
Sorry for just the one picture. It was the first dish to come out, crispy cauliflower. It was so incredible that I started digging into the other dishes forgetting to take pictures before doing so because I was so excited to try the next and the next.
The staff was super friendly, the service was smooth, and the whole place just felt great. And shoutout to them for actually listening to feedback about drink pricing — rare these days!
Drinks we had:
Tequila flight (dangerously good), an Old Fashioned (smooth and strong, the way it should be), a dirty tequila martini (way better than it sounds), and a white wine that paired perfectly.
Food rundown:
• Tuna Crudo: Fresh and awesome.
• Prosciutto: Simple, salty happiness.
• Cauliflower: Shockingly good — like “why am I eating more cauliflower” good.
• Scallops: Perfectly cooked.
• Tagliatelle: Comfort in a bowl.
• Prime Skirt Steak: Juicy and actually a proper portion this time.
• Chicken a la Brassa: Packed with flavor and one of the stars.
Overall, they really went above and beyond. Great food, great service, great vibe.
We’ll definitely be back — and this time, happily

I hate to give this place 3 stars because it was actually a beautiful restaurant. We go to many high end restaurants in Austin.
2 reasons for marking them down:
1. PORTION SIZES
For the price- example is their skirt steak. It is $45-$50 for this item which is a main meal meant to be shared and it’s EXTREMELY small. I could get a reasonable steak at Jeffries for this price and it’s would not be a skirt steak. It was miniature.
2. DRINK PRICES
I love tequila and drink all sorts of top shelf tequila. I typically drink tequila on the rocks where ever I go. I ordered several Casamigos reposados to find that when I got the check, they were $35 each which is insane. That’s almost the price of Azul which in my opinion is the best Tequila money can buy. I had 3 of these and to find that it at this point was 1/4 of these entire cost of our meal.
These 2 things are unfortunately enough to have me not want to go back to this restaurant.
they apparently do live music sometimes – which i would definitely come back for!
also, the waitress knew we didn’t eat certain meats, so she substituted one of the entrees’s sides w another dish without us having to check / ask which was so nice!!! she was on top of the menu for sure.
the pics are so bad bc as always i take them after we’ve already dug in. let me say THE CHICKEN WAS SOOO TENDER. and the chutney with it. AWESOME. wow. duck bao was loved by my companions and the cabbage was chefs kiss.
We came to check out The Kitchen as soon as we heard it was open and were not disappointed!
The atmosphere was great, all of the staff was very helpful and the food was amazing.
It’s all served family style. We had the beets, carrots, crullers, Kansas City steak and the gnocchi and semifreddo.
It was all amazing but we particularly enjoyed the beets and carrots.
The steak was very well seasoned and extremely tender.
I’d never had crullers but those were also amazing.
We’ll certainly be back for another date night soon!
