This was an amazing experience! We were in the area on business and came across this restaurant on google with 5 stars so we had to try it. It did not disappoint us and we will be back when in the area. The chef is very talented and can cook a variety of dishes. When we ordered and the food was brought to our table, the chef came out and greeted us and asked us how the food was. You just don’t see that much anymore. The waitress was amazing as well. Highly recommended!

I visited The King’s Bistro for brunch and it did not disappoint! I welcomed and immediately seated. The server was warm and friendly. Very knowledgeable about the menu. I waited about 15-20 minutes for my food. It came out hot and fresh. The fried chicken sandwich was crispy and tasty. I absolutely loved the King’s seasoned fries. The fusion of Latin and Southern Cuisine is just what we need here in Kingstree and surrounding areas.

Downtown Kingstree just got itself a crown jewel, and it’s wearing it proudly. The King’s Bistro—Chef Henry’s Southern‑meets‑Mexican fever dream of flavor—is turning the old Kingstree train depot into the kind of dining destination Charleston foodies pretend they “just stumbled upon” to sound worldly.
And honestly, it deserves the hype.
You step off the mid‑morning Amtrak from Charleston—yes, an easy, under‑an‑hour ride that costs less than a round of drinks on Upper King—and you’re practically delivered to the front door of this place. The depot’s bones are still there, but now they’re humming with the smell of smoked spices, seared perfection, and whatever culinary wizardry Chef Henry is conjuring that day.
His dishes aren’t just good—they’re the kind of good that makes you pause mid‑bite, look around the room, and silently mouth “oh my God” to no one in particular. It’s Southern comfort kissed by Latin fire, plated with the confidence of a chef who knows exactly what he’s doing. With amazing cuts of meat delivered fresh from the butcher two blocks away, and sides correct for the season he exposes the difference between the “production” restaurants of Upper King St. and a curated dining experience. The man is quietly leading a food renaissance in Kingstree, and the locals know it. The visitors know it. And Charleston? Charleston should probably be a little nervous that a town up the tracks is giving it a run for its money.
What’s wild is how quickly this place is reshaping the local scene. Shops are buzzing. Foot traffic is up. People are making day trips not just for nostalgia or small‑town charm, but because Kingstree suddenly has a restaurant that could hold its own on any street in Charleston—but chose to plant its flag somewhere with soul.
And the best part? You can make a whole adventure out of it. Ride up late morning, wander the shops, eat like royalty, grab dessert, and be back on the evening train home by 6. It’s the easiest, coolest, most affordable culinary field trip you can take from Charleston right now.

The food was great. I will return. Sweet potato waffle fries with pecans. Blackened fish tacos with pineapple salsa.

This restaurant is in the old train station. It is beautiful inside with exposed brick and vaulted ceilings. The food is spectacular. We were with a group and tried about half of the menu and it was all great. The smash burgers were top notch, every dish made with Birria was a winner, I especially loved the Birria bowl. My dad had a steak that was huge and perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portions were large and the prices are very fair. We back the next day for brunch and enjoyed our second visit just as much as the first! They do have a kids menu so the kiddos will be happy. Additionally, right across the road is a grassy park (turf) that our child enjoyed playing in after each visit. All around a great experience, right in downtown Kingstree!

We had a great meal tonight. The owner is awesome and is trying to bring a new unique dining experience to Kingstree. If you are traveling thru Kingstree on the way to the beach, check them out for lunch or dinner, you will not be disappointed.

My husband and I went to dinner with another couple at the King’s Bistro. It was our first time. We had appetizers, soups, salads, steak, desserts, and coffee! Everything was made from scratch and it was delicious. Our appetizer – Chorizo cheese dip was amazing. Tomato basil and French Onion soups were delicious. All of our main course dishes were delightful. But the desserts were outstanding. Make sure you get the banana pudding. You might be full, but you will thank me later!

I’ve eaten at Kings Bistro more times than I can count — dine-in and take-out — and at this point I’ve sampled almost the entire menu. What amazes me is that every single dish is just as fantastic as the one before it. There’s no “hit or miss” here; everything they serve is consistently fresh, flavorful, and made with real care.
The portions are generous, the seasoning is always on point, and the food tastes like someone in the kitchen genuinely loves what they do. Whether you’re grabbing something quick or sitting down for a full meal, Kings Bistro delivers quality every single time.
It’s rare to find a place where you can order anything on the menu with confidence — but Kings Bistro is exactly that kind of restaurant. Highly recommend.

Great atmosphere. Friendly staff.
Train wreck fries were flavorful.
Boxcar burger was ok, it could use some work. Possibly, maybe smash the patties more, with slightly bigger around buns. This would make it not so “messy” and give even more of the great char grill flavor in every bite, that is currently only on the outside edges.
Chicken and waffles was good. Had great flavor and was juicy.
Church banana pudding lacks the churro flavor, however, I do realize we are not in a border state.
Thanks for the food and service

The environment is so pretty. The staff has completely dropped the ball. Months ago my mom and I reached out to host an event here. We were met with no response for weeks. Then we were in town and stoped by the location. The staff inside watched and laughed as we looked around and tried to enter for a tour. At this point for 72 hours before the event in real time the staff is now harassing us begging us to use their venue now. For consecutive days they have woken me up out of my sleep with early morning aggravation. To host an event properly you’d need a location weeks before not hours.
