The experience, though, was a bit uneven. The TVs were cranked up so loud that it felt more like a sports bar during playoffs than a place to sit and enjoy dinner. Our food came out warm, not hot, and you could tell it had been sitting for a minute. The Bobby fries were barely melted, and my quesadilla was mostly corn, which isn’t how I’ve had it at other Kickin’ Chicken spots. My husband liked his wings, but even those weren’t as fresh as they should’ve been.
On the positive side, our server was kind and worked hard the whole time. He seemed stretched thin, but he stayed polite and checked on us when he could.
Overall, it wasn’t a terrible visit, but it didn’t live up to the quality we’re used to from this brand. For the price, I expected a little more consistency. I might give it another shot down the road, but it wouldn’t be my first pick.
I ordered the chicken tenders with French fries and chose the Korean barbecue sauce, and it absolutely delivered. The chicken tenders were perfectly cooked — hot, juicy, and tender on the inside with a satisfying, well-seasoned crunch on the outside. These weren’t frozen, forgettable tenders; they tasted fresh, carefully prepared, and clearly made with quality in mind. The French fries were just as impressive: crispy on the outside, fluffy on the inside, and seasoned just right. They complemented the chicken perfectly without stealing the spotlight.
The real star for me, though, was the Korean barbecue sauce. It was remarkable — a great balance of sweet, savory, and just the right hint of heat. It elevated the entire meal and turned something familiar into something memorable. It’s the kind of sauce you find yourself slowing down for, just to enjoy each bite.
Beyond the food, the atmosphere and service really stood out. The staff was genuinely friendly, attentive, and welcoming without feeling rushed or forced. The restaurant itself was clean, bright, and well-maintained, which always makes a difference in how enjoyable a meal feels.
Overall, Kickin’ Chicken in West Ashley nailed it — great food, great service, and a comfortable, clean environment. It’s the kind of place that makes you want to come back, not just for the menu, but for the whole experience. Highly recommended.
After a great call, the staff reassured me that the order would be ready at the precise time. It was ready 20 minutes early-normally a great thing, but not for fried food in a Togo box added ontop of the undesired rush when planning a party.
To The Chicken’s great bennefit, food quality is great. I just wish I didnt have to reheat/dry it at home to enjoy.
The ability to order food within a time window isnt novel. A quality restaurant like The Chicken should be able to accomplish this and I hope they will.
Fried pickles 2/10 even when oven reheated due to batter falling off.
Wings 9/10
Sauces 10/10
Staff friendliness 10/10
Cleanliness 10/10
Ordering capability 3/10
If I’d kept the receipt, I’d give full information, but didn’t get a final when offered.
My total for 6 people, during half off appetizers, with only 2 entrees= $133
There was a discount given through my friends app / points connection, but that still seems to not have added up to being charged $12.99 for 2 sauces.
