It’s a hole in the wall spot, which probably accounts for the lower Google rating, but it’s some of the best Indian cooking in Somerville/Cambridge.
Also, when I try calling nobody picks up. There is erroneously recorded msg that keeps repeating.
Service was friendly and quick, too! The ambiance was eclectic but in a great way, it felt one of a kind. I will come back for the lunch special for sure.
Rumi describes the heart as being an outward flower drawing in, and I certainly felt the Factory drawing me in from across Kirkland Street. Buzzing, whirring, lifting my feet. The desire to eat and be fed is a prayer I live daily, but … daily I am broken by the demands of our increasingly discordant governmental system, unfair taxes, my sister’s ethically non-monogamous relationships, and a NON-FUNCTIONING sewer system. The Kebab Factory’s sewer system, however, was a sigh of relief. (Literally.)
In a world full of meaningless pleasantries, I was immensely comforted to feel the proprietor’s warm arms around my shoulders—a safe haven, a bed of feathers for a small gosling. I have always found silence to be life’s greatest consolation. The Kebab Factory does not mar your ears with that contemporary dribble they call “music”; it invites you, instead, to look inward.
When words mean nothing, actions deafen.
I have some dietary restrictions, such as a terrible allergy that I do not feel comfortable talking about publicly, but the bathrooms provided the relief I needed. Plenty of seating around the restaurant, as well as in the restroom, which my sister would appreciate, given her poorly maintained boundaries.
She has three attractive partners who joined us for the meal. (Desario, Alek, and Jacob, whom I love and cherish.) It’s difficult to see her continually not advocate for her needs and be subsumed by the passions of her lovers qua roommates. It’s too much for her. The world is too much for her. How can you love someone and still say you need them to change?
Desario is adamant about always having a biryani on the table, even when they provide rice. I often get overwhelmed by having so much rice on the table (a fear I inherit from my father), but the Factory really delivered on portions and quality. Alek springs for mango lhassi, which wasn’t available, but the waiter provided a lovely wine list instead! Jacob and I had some delicious imported beers and commiserated over yet another round of increased taxes.
When I see my sister, I see myself. (That’s because we’re twins.) As Rumi said, mirrors are not reality, they are reflections of another world—a world where I am enough, where one of my sister’s uniquely handsome partners would be enough. Where low taxes would be enough. At least, for now, the garlic naan was enough.
The food tastes really really good. There is variety of items and the behavior of employees are also good. I would disregard all the bad review.
I am not paid and was pleasantly surprised after dined.
Nov 2021: Their food was good but I would say that the price was a bit on the upper side.
The buffet runs on Friday, Saturday and Sunday only. And it’s $17.95. Don’t get fooled by the old reviews! The items were I would say limited but they were tasty.
This restaurant is amazing! I went here for buffet, and they brought the dishes to the table as the regular style buffet is closed due to covid guidelines, so you might want to tell them beforehand about any dietary restrictions if you go for buffet. The food was so tasty, they had prepared each item fresh. The quality, quantity and the price, I am a fan! If you want to know what real North Indian food tastes like, this is a must try restaurant!
Update: I am sad to write this update, but I went in with my friends for lunch buffet and we were all disappointed. The buffet is now usual style buffet, that’s okay, but the quality and the variety of the food has dropped significantly. The naans that were once amazing were this time like thick breads and not naans. And paani puri filling they had on the table was stale and stinking. And the paani puri “paani” was just a giant ice block that was thawing and had no flavour. I would usually give them benefit of the doubt, but these many issues cannot be overlooked.
Includes mutton, creamy paneer, chicken, puri, chana and few other dishes.
Food was 5 star.
Could have been a little more clean like tables etc.
But overall good stuff.
