We are a non profit restaurant open to the public 4 days a week! All proceed’s go toward our mission of providing fresh cooked meals to people that are homebound battling cancer! Support the mission! We currently are doing 800 home visits a month! Come dine with us! Scratch kitchen! Friendly Staff!

Loved this place! The food is AMAZING & it is all for a great cause- to help provide meals to home bound cancer patients.
Although it has a beautiful sign, and mural on the back of the building, it is set back in a shopping center off 32nd St just south of Shea. I drove by for years without really noticing it. I think The Joy Bus HQ expansion last year increased visibility. Plus, there’s a few other great spots competing in the neighborhood. But The Joy Bus is a must try!
The space has a cozy, diner style vibe. Staff & volunteers are great, there’s a cute 1973 VW bus with a dining table (I think you may have to reserve that seat in advance), an outdoor area, a back room (maybe for events, I forgot to ask), and…did I mention the amazing food?
Everything coming out of the kitchen had our mouths watering. We picked the Shakshuka and Eggs Benedict. Both great choices. I hear their smash burger is also fantastic as a lunch pick.
Worth the stop, even if you have to drive a bit out of the way!

Wow! It’s been a long time since I’ve been to an amazing diner, this food was so good! And it’s for such a good cause that you don’t even feel bad eating it and then it’s for such a good cause that you would think that it would be way more expensive and it’s just not.
I was so torn between that huge breakfast sandwich and the biscuits and gravy, I tried the biscuits and gravy and I am so happy that I did! It is so delicious. I’m still coming back for that big breakfast sandwich, though, that thing looked amazing.
We got French toast to share, and my daughter got Chilaquiles and she added the beef…. Everything was so good.
The orange juice was tasting very fresh squeezed, the coffee was good. The atmosphere was good, the service was good. It was just a great breakfast, we will be coming back for lunch and we will be coming back for that big huge breakfast sandwich too.

Chef Jennifer Caraway created the Joy Bus Diner after losing her friend Joy to cancer. Run mainly by volunteers, the diner has been feeding the community not only in the diner but through home delivered meals for 15 years.
Thursday thru Sunday from 7-2, you can grab breakfast or lunch at the diner on 32nd and Shea. You can donate a meal for $15 when you pay for your own meal or check out their website for more donation and volunteer opportunities. Volunteers cook, serve you, and deliver meals to cancer patients in their own homes.

Also, in the diner, you’ll find @wildthingsbotanicals and can purchase a beautiful plant after your meal. Owner Cherry has been a part of the diner for 7 years and delivers bouquets to home bound cancer patients along with their meals.

Tried this place for the very first time this morning, it has a great star rating and the photos look good. Purchased two burritos (chorizo & bacon) to-go. I try the bacon and got nearly half way before the burnt taste was too much. The potatoes were completely burnt on one side. I grab the chorizo and can see the burnt potatoes through the tortilla. I fished out as much of the potatoes as I could, still ended up eating a couple with each bite. I finished eating 20 minutes ago and the charred/burnt taste is still prominent. Very disappointing!

Everything here is top notch. The menu is stacked with comfort classics done right, and you can taste the love in every bite. This morning, my wife had the chorizo burrito (house made chorizo next level), and I went with the chorizo plate and a waffle. Absolutely unreal. The tortillas? Out of this world. Fresh, flavorful, and taste like they are made in house. I’ve been coming here for years and have never had a bad meal.
They just moved to 32nd Street and Shea, and it’s already one of the best diners in Phoenix. The space is bright, welcoming, and filled with good energy.
And let’s not forget the staff, the service is always warm and personal. From what I understand, the servers are volunteers, donating their time because they believe in the mission. That says everything. You can feel the community here. It’s not just a meal, it’s an experience.

Local. Laudable mission. But don’t come just for the feels. The food is 1000% legit. The service is friendly, and the prices are good.
Always loved the Joy Bus, but first time at the new location. It’s spacious and airy, but still expect a little wait as it’s quite popular.
The star of the show was definitely the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was uniquely fabulous, and topped with perfectly over easy eggs… OMG.
The chorizo & eggs were solidly done and served with an amazing peppery salsa. Combined with the warm tortilla that had that just right texture, I was sent back to some of my happiest childhood days, decades ago, eating Mexican breakfast favorites on opening day of dove season at Headquarters in Maricopa. Great food can do that.
The Belgian waffle was reminiscent of a beignets (a wonderful thing), and the lemony poppy pancakes were as good as any in the valley.
I highly recommend The Joy Bus. You’re supporting a great cause, and you’re getting an amazing meal that is somehow a few bucks less than other top-notch breakfast places (like Perk or Matt’s).

The best endorsement I can give, other than trying to eat here literally every weekend, is that even with the “meal donation” of $15 (which I do every time), I would happily pay three times what they charge. It’s simple food – prepared incredibly well and absolutely delicious – in a simple setting, with friendly, helpful servers who quickly learn you name. I’ve had most everything on the menu and not one thing has been less than delicious. Can’t recommend it enough.
