I decided on a Reuben sandwich paired with a side of French onion soup. Conversely, my husband chose a half dozen wings and an appetizer called pork sliders. Our food was served in a prompt manner. The French onion soup was hot and flavorful, boasting a rich flavor and a generous helping of melted cheese. The Reuben was equally tasty, featuring an abundance of corned beef and tangy sauerkraut.
While my husband’s wings were enjoyable, the true standout of his meal was the pork sliders. These consisted of four sliders filled with pulled pork, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and topped with a cherry cranberry compote. Although this combination may seem unusual, the flavors melded together surprisingly well.
Throughout our meal, our server provided attentive and friendly service, and the restaurant maintained a clean and welcoming atmosphere. We are already anticipating our next visit.
On the post they made there was no indication or information that the vouchers had a price limit. So the voucher was only for $80, And breakfast for $20. When we called to make the reservation, nothing was said about this. We thought that dinner was just included in the overall price that we were paying and we were very disappointed to see that it was a completely different situation when we actually got the vouchers- AFTER we paid. Dinner still ended up being an additional $70. They should have put that information on the post or been relayed- we felt blindsighted.
Our dinner was nothing short of abysmal. They had three starters and at 6:30 PM on Valentine’s Day they were already sold out of two of them. We were left with a Mexican stew which my husband ended up not being able to eat because of dietary restrictions but there was no substitutions and nothing else available. Second course, we both got a Caesar salad and to our avail there was not one crouton and the lettuce was flaccid.
Third course was somehow even worse. I got the filet mignon and it was cooked to absolute hell, and yet my asparagus was so undercooked it hard to even cut through. It was basically raw. The meat was so overcooked, but I hoped that there would be some kind of seasoning anywhere on the plate and there was not. The mole was overdone and flavorless as well. My husband’s Lamb dinner had raw potatoes in the mashed potatoes and the lamb was so fatty, and there was completely raw “roasted” carrots.
The desserts were the best part of the entire meal. As we were eating our desserts, we decided while we were sitting there to order a pizza from somewhere else so we could actually have something fulfilling and flavorful to eat.
The hotel was clean and the staff at the restaurant and hotel were wonderful. Shout out to our waiter for being so kind and helpful and apologetic for things that were not his fault!
We were hoping that breakfast would go well because breakfast is one of the easiest things to cook. But to our dismay, and to my utter shock, I’ve never had such a bad pancake in my life. 52 years old and I’ve never had a bad pancake like that. It tasted like cardboard. Sadly I was so glad that I ordered the pancake because I at least had something to eat while I waited for my Eggs, Benedict to be remade for the second time because I was serve served completely raw eggs the first. The second round they were completely overcooked, and the hollandaise sauce was tasteless and my English muffin not toasted. My husband’s toast was not toasted and unbuttered and by the time he realized it was cold and pointless to eat. The breakfast potatoes unseasoned- thank god for salt and pepper being provided.
So disappointed in the food. I used to come here quite a bit and have not been in a few years as we live out of town, and I’m sad to say that I will not be back until they get a new chef.
I may be nitpicking here- but they completely changed the interior and there’s so many different patterns and colors. It is an interior design nightmare. I miss the ambience of the old interior. The fireplace and brick/lighting has so much potential but the fabrics and the chairs along with some other decor (mainly all the stuff on the shelves in the bar which looked like a flea market) clash together so much, especially with the overly colorful art on the walls it was just like looking in the dumpster of a TJ Maxx.
I hope this was a helpful- I hope that next year the package offered will be more organized, the information will be adequately provided and the kitchen more put together and prepared for the reservations that were made. I hope the chef takes this as constructive and improves greatly.
Thank you again to the staff and our waiter.
