We had a great experience at the James. Andrew was our server and he was phenomenal! One of our friends has celiacs disease and he made sure that evening was taken care of so she didn’t have to worry. The GF menu is huge! And honestly as someone who isn’t GF, the GF blue crab dip and bread was delicious. The crème brûlée is a must try! 10/10 would recommend coming here. The food, the vibes, the drinks, the service – all wonderful!

Update. Since dining here a little over a month ago, was since diagnosed Celiac, and I was afraid I would not be able to enjoy coming here anymore. I went for lunch though and discovered with so much joy, they have a thoughtful Gluten-free menu with so many options! I enjoyed a smooth lobster bisque from the pick two menu, alongside a blue crab grilled cheese on a gluten free bun. I’ll take it! Would be slightly better if it were on actual sliced bread (consider for the future?) but service was great too. I wouldn’t put powdered sugar on sorbet, however. Sorbet is best as a pallet cleanser and left to be tart. My friend also enjoyed her French onion soup and sandwich. Keep up the greatness that is here.
The James in Geneva has become a new favorite of mine this past year. The food is so thoughtful. Their eggplant whip (their take on babaghanoush) has the most amazing toasted crunchy toast to accompany. We also ordered the other bread appetizer that were hot cross buns, so soft and buttery on top….this was prior to me knowing I needed to eat gluten-free. I’m going to beg the James to please make an amazing GF bread option for appetizers and to clearly label the GF options bc I absolutely love this place (it’s possible they do, but I need to check back in to see). We have been bringing our parents and kids along with, and the decor is as good as the food. Interesting wall designs. Haven’t dined outside yet (the metal wire chairs didn’t look as comfortable) but maybe cushions will be offered in the summer. Hats off to the chef, every experience thus far has been appreciated. I’ve had brunch, lunch and dinner.

This is truly a gem in Geneva!
We had planned to visit this restaurant and finally made it. We were not disappointed.
Service was exceptional (thank you Freddy), food was terrific, and decor was intimate.
We had the Bourbon corn chowder, which was excellent.
We even had time to talk to the manager, Iran. This will be good for a repeat visit.
August 25: we are planning to rent one of their banquet rooms for a private party. While we came to check out the rooms, we stopped at their patio area for drinks and appetizers. Excellent!
Parking can be a hassle. Street parking on 3rd, and parking lots on Fulton and James Streets.

I went during lunch time (1pm ish) and got seated at the bar area. The food was delicious and reasonably priced, but what really stood out to me was the decor and atmosphere. Came here without looking at reviews so next time I come I’ll definitely make a reservation because I have to try their dinner menu!

We ate outside despite some ominous looking weather, and we were accommodated!! The weather turned out magnificent, the food was splendid (their asparagus was to die for) and the staff was delightful!! We enjoyed Janet and Ron so very much!! Thank God for the great weather and thank The James and staff for our anniversary dinner!!

Absolutely love the James in downtown Geneva. We enjoyed a wonderful lunch with friends on their beautiful outdoor patio. We had to pick two, and we love that you can get a half a sandwich, cup of soup and the homemade potato chips.. The Thai chicken salad on croissant was excellent. We also had the Italian beef Dipper and the turkey club sandwich. We loved the beef vegetable soup of the day and the onion soup.

New favorite spot! Great food, drinks, atmosphere, and service. I ordered the elote stuffed pepper and my sister ordered the cod with green goddess dressing. Both were phenomenal. The pineapple express cocktail was also refreshing and perfect for a summer evening. I will be back! Outdoor seating too!
