Social Profile:

The Jalapeno Tree is a family owned full service restaurant with a passion for Crazy Good Mexican Food. We strive to create a family friendly environment with a focus on fresh food, quality ingredients and exemplary service. Celebrating over 30 years of business has allowed our Pepper Posse team to create unique food experiences using fresh, healthy ingredients in a made to order scratch kitchen. While fajitas remain a local favorite, items like our Summer Salmon Salad with fresh watermelon, oranges, pineapple, and salmon over a bed of greens provide refreshing options. We know rice and beans are a must for Mexican Food but, we like to change things up with offerings of squash/zucchini, tortilla soup, and Key West veggies as optional sides

Informal Mexican chain with a big menu of hearty staples, plus a few American dishes.

Came in and had a new waitress named Michelle. She was amazing. Had our drinks filled whole time, food order correct, and very sweet woman. Now the manager we seen on duty i think her name was Maria. We noticed she kept watch over the employees, would pull them from what they were doing, get them confused instead of letting them handle business, and over heard her with an employee expecting perfection. She had another lady there all day and no break. Not even one. We were there visiting with out of town family so we’re there few hours. Believe the young lady named raven never took a break and worked her tail off. The drinks are ridiculous prices and the food is over priced as well. A portion for same exact plate 1 town over is literally a 5 dollar price difference. They don’t use seating order so when we came in it was like the employees rushed to get to us just so they could have a table. Definitely need better management from the looks of it. In the end Michelle made us smile and was very happy with our service.

When it comes to Mexican Restaurants, I like to break it down a little further.

First impression: Avg Tex Mex Restaurant, typical lighting, staff cheerfully working, serving up all the favorites.

WHAT I GOT: When I opened up the menu, I was greeted with prices for lunch, that were well out of the scope for this area. Ridiculous for that of a local chain, but already being here, might as well order, settling on the Fajita Quesadilla $15 for a lunch portion (10-11 elsewhere).

Chips: lacked salt in chips and sauces, but with the addition of the green sauce they provide, raises the bar. I’d like to see this in other restaurants. 3 of 5, for major reduction for seasoning, and presentation.

Food: I didn’t have a major belief it was going to be the epic experience, by this point, but I expected more for my money in the aspect of appearance, and as for the taste, seasoning was a bit lacking, yet again. 2 of 5.

Service: This server worked hard, and her score is probably what saved overall from being worse.

Overall Take: Go to one of the other places, or even Juicy’s Taco. Management needs intervention here, I don’t know if this is brand standard, help them lord if it is. 2 of 5 Overall.

We had an amazing server that took care of us a couple months ago. I don’t remember her name because it was 2 months or would give her the recognition she deserves. Food was phenomenal, especially the salsa and jalapeño dip. This place never disappoints!

There’s plenty of parking and seats. The decor is unbelievable. Some of the best Mexican food I’ve ever had fajitas are really great. I believe they grind there own corn and make the tortillas in house.

My fiancé and I went here for dinner on 12/27/25 and ordered the same fajita burrito we always get. Our server was incredibly sweet and understanding, and this review is NOT about her.

While boxing up his food, my fiancé found multiple strands of hair in his burrito. The hair was under the food, not placed on top, and two strands came up on his fork while transferring it to a to-go box. After looking further, he found another strand. Not only did he find food in his food. We calmly showed our server and made it very clear that we were not upset and understood that mistakes happen.

As we were otw home he pulled hair out of between his teeth when he was cleaning them with a pick

However, the manager, Maria, handled the situation in an extremely unprofessional and disrespectful manner. She came out and accused us of putting the hair on the food ourselves, which was completely inappropriate and insulting. When I suggested she check the cameras, she never returned and instead gave us rude looks until we left.

What should have been a simple, respectful resolution turned into an uncomfortable experience solely because of the manager’s attitude. We were calm, understanding, and polite the entire time, yet were treated poorly by Maria and as if we were dishonest.

Because of how this was handled, we will not be returning to the Jalapeño Tree in Longview. Customer service—especially from management—matters, and this experience was unacceptable.

The food tasted awesome, but a little expensive. We paid seventeen dollars for nachos and got nine chips and toppings. Our waitress spent more time in the back than serving her tables. The staff gave the whole place a bad atmosphere. No one seemed happy or smiled. Kudos to the cooks! The food tasted great.

Came after 2pm, only two-three tables occupied in the whole place, waitress was completely inattentive and forgot part of our order, which given how sparse the place was didnt make sense save for her overwhelming apathy. Food was okay. Chips and dips and ice cream were nice touches but the poor attitude service is such an own-goal.

Good food. Good waitor. The staff has been short handed the 2 times we been there. Foods takes longer than it should sometimes but it’s good.

All in all we had a good experience. McDonalds better not find out about this place’s best kept sicret – a working icream machine, and its FREE! Our waiter was Tyler and at first it seems like she was either new or lost… They must have not had clear communication about who is attending to what tables because she kept walking past. Manager came up to check on us and understood what was happening, got us drinks and order got taken momentarily. Food was good but pretty mediocre, maybe because we got quesadilla and enchilada plates and not one of the premium entré plates.
