Everyday is a Wonder
Good affordable sushi just by Beverly Grove. Prices for Japanese are very reasonable. Will definitely come back here all the sushi rolls are delicious and fresh. The shrimp poppers are yum! More value for money during lunch.

I am so happy Izakaya is back! I was worried after a 2.5 year hiatus that the food wouldn’t be as good, but it is the same quality and same menu (written in a fancier format). The renovation looks great and overall felt slightly more upscale than before, but with the same reasonable prices. My only feedback, which is an easy fix, is that the lights were very bright for dinner time. They should turn them down to make it feel more vibey. Will be back many times!!

(2018) Overrated and overpriced. Our first dish scallop came cold. Charged $17 for a large sake, but what really came up was a small bottle.

(2022) Had the chance to dine at the same restaurant the second time, unknowing that this was the same restaurants visited 4 years ago. This time it was a much better experience. Sat at the sushi bar. The California roll was very delicious (ordered one additional to go). Also enjoyed the grilled yellow tail and the short ribs. Sushi chefs were very friendly and responsive.

This is amazing food. I’m gonna give five star to this restaurant. Everybody was laughing while I was making the video and the wheelchair fell down and I broke my lenses broken in half $700 lenses but it was worth it. Everybody was laughing so come and enjoy this restaurant. This was George Anton 100 million views on Google maps

Fish was definitely good but I wasn’t exactly wow’ed by anything. Then again I got the lunch “Izaka-ya plate” which was a little bit of everything I guess. Service was good.

I lost count of the many sushi restaurants I’ve gone to in Los Angeles (and the country), but I’ll be adding this one to my list of the ones I would visit again. I really enjoyed coming here in the work week for a quick, but good lunch. It is on the pricier side, but they have some great lunch specials.

This time around I went straight for the special rolls section. I settled on the Robert Roll (interesting name). It was on the smaller side and had a great taste with a hint of spiciness, but I wasn’t left full like I typically am from a roll. That’s probably a good thing. I highly recommend this roll, especially if you are not super hungry or don’t want to get really full to leave room for something else (a Sapporo maybe?).

I ended up adding some vegetable tempura, which finished the job of leaving me fully satisfied. They actually have a lunch special for vegetable tempura that comes with rice, soup and salad for like $2 more, but I knew that would take me overboard and possibly have to close my office door to take a nap.

I took a little bite from my friend’s crispy spinach on top of seared albacore belly. I specifically want to come back to order this for myself. Who knew crispy spinach taste so good and you cant go wrong with albacore.

Service was pretty good for it being so busy. It could be loud in there, but I found it easy to carry on my conversation throughout lunch.
They offer valet parking, or there is metered parking up and down the street. It’s a busy area so parking is pretty terrible.

Third time I’ve ordered pickup here, and the food is good. I would say above average quality, and it’s priced fairly for what you get. But every single time I have ordered pickup, they are never even close to having the order prepared by the time they tell me. It’s gotten consistently worse each time I’ve ordered, with tonight being worst as my order was not ready for nearly 30 minutes after the time they told me (which was 45 minutes to begin with, so the time almost doubled).

While that is its own issue, what I think isn’t great about their customer service is they never apologize or have any reasoning beyond saying “we’re running behind tonight”. In my opinion, if a pickup order is 30 minutes late I think it would polite to at least apologize, and if you wanted to go above and beyond perhaps offer a discount or comp something. It defeats the purpose of a pickup order when you need to pay for parking and find something to do for 30 minutes while they’re trying to get it together in the kitchen.
