Cozy mainstay for homemade pasta, veal & chicken dishes served in a quaint, candle-lit atmosphere.

I attended a group work dinner at The Italian Connection and we had a great time. The restaurant is in a converted house, and it does feel like a big dinner party! The food was amazing and is made to order. The pasta is fresh and delicious. Our server was friendly and was able to answer questions and make recommendations. This is definitely a place to come back to!

What a perfect homey Italian restaurant. The interior is cozy making you feel right at home. The service was welcoming and very personable. All the food was delicious. The homemade pasta was cooked to perfection and is hard to find in Fort Wayne. I can’t want to come back and try other offerings!!

I’ve been here for a decade and I have never heard of this place before, until I was talking with some guys at work and one of them told me about this place.
It is in fact a restaurant, but it was someone’s house that has been converted. Its wonderful in there. The tables are a little close together, so there’s a nice background noise of people enjoying themselves, but its not so loud you can’t hear the company you’re with.
The staff was very pleasant – though they have a unique way of interacting with the clientele. Not bad, just different from other sit down restaurants or reputable eaterys; maybe a bit less professional than what I’m used to, but that doesn’t mean it was bad. They recommended dishes, and wines, and even explained to me what some of the Italian words meant. They described in great detail what their dishes were like and which ones might suit my tastes.
The walls were filled with memories. Pictures from various families crowded them, and it felt like a museum of happiness in there. They used bottles of wine that had been signed with notes of appreciation and dated by previous customers going all the back to before I was born.
The real star of the show for me was the food though.
Its been about a month since I went there, and I’m still thinking about the food. Now understand, I’ve never been a real fan of Italian food. I mean its a poor food. It was borne of necessity, and now its considered “luxury” for noodles with a bit of toppings.
But this dish that I got, the Alex’s Special… it was truly unlike anything I have eaten before. They served the dish to me on plating that was chipped a little bit, but clearly very well cherished and taken care of. And when I bit down into the food itself it was like I got connected to the entire Italian culture. Generations of love, laughter, and bliss seeped through me as I chewed and then swallowed that one bite.
It felt like that scene in Avatar when Jake Sully connected to the ancestor tree of Eywa for the first time. Thats the best way I can describe it. I understand now why Italian food is coveted and considered a delicacy, I had just never experienced true and real Italian food before in my life. I can see why this place is so popular, and why one requires a reservation. I made mine 3 months in advance as it was a special occasion for someone I love. She too enjoyed it.
If you care about someone highly, I recommend taking them here. It was fairly priced, and you get a lot of food for the amount that you pay.
Its an older fashioned sort of place, with incredible charm. I recommend everyone in the Fort Wayne area eat here at least once before they die.

My wife and I have a list of restaurants we would like to visit, we finally made it to the Italian Connection. We were seated upstairs, its close quarters but not as bad as some say. Parking is definitely a little tight, as others have stated.
I ordered the chicken parm, which they warned me wasn’t traditional. My wife ordered Alfredo Primavera.
My chicken unfortunately came out undercooked. We told the waitress and she informed me she had to take my plate, I naturally agreed to this.
The waitress came back out and apologized profusely to us, and removed my chicken from the bill. We didn’t get to speak to the chef or owner, they didn’t come out.
My wife let me try her Alfredo, the sauce tasted of half and half. It was definitely not appealing to me.
The salad was underwhelming. Lacking flavor, but was fresh.
The bread was also underwhelming, it reminded my of just white bread slices. The compound butter was maybe the best part.
My chicken came with a side of noodles and red sauce. The noodles were alright, reminded me a lot of egg noodles. The sauce was good, but not great.
We likely won’t return, mostly due to the owner/ chef not making amends themselves. We loved local businesses, so we truly hope they figure it out and continue serving food people do enjoy, it just won’t be to us.

This is a pretty cool old-school Italian restaurant. It’s like being in somebody’s home, and it has a warm atmosphere. Pictures hang on every wall, and the staff were professional. I definitely recommend getting a reservation. Even though I didn’t have one, though, the staff got me in. I tried the fettuccine Antonio, which was delicious. The smoked meat really added to the creamy flavor. Prices seemed reasonable. This is definitely a hidden gem in Fort Wayne.

What a gem this place is. Amazing atmosphere with all of the pictures and decor, fantastic staff and food that was amazing. Call and get a reservation as the place is small but you won’t be disappointed. Brian the owner was extremely welcoming and told some great stories. Danni our server was simply amazing. Stayed on top of our orders all night and was so much fun. The selfie she took while taking our group pic was hilarious!! The food was very impressive and everything is hand made. Thank you Italian Connection for a fantastic evening.

This is a hidden gem. Is the food good? Yes, it is. You’ll find Italian standards along with some unique creations. The atmosphere and service really set this place apart. Once you walk in, you no longer feel like you are in Fort Wayne. With wine bottles and old framed family photos literally covering the walls, this converted house has a hole-in-the-wall vibe that goes on for days. The crowning jewel of our visit was the service. Our server, Mallory, delivered the best service we have had in years. She was kind and witty, and made us feel like regulars even though this was our first visit. Her service alone has guaranteed many return visits for us.

We went to this charming and timeless place after a day celebrating my great nieces 5th birthday. They had one of the best marinara sauces I’ve ever had, fresh made pasta and meatballs that were equally as tasty. I’ll be visiting again with family. Thank you for a wonderful and memorable moment in time with my family.

Me and my boyfriend decided to come here for a date night. It started off well and got seated right away. The server came up and explained the menu and the specials. We started off with garlic bread with cheese and when it came it was very small. When i say small it was bite size or small enough to feed a dog or cat. Next came the salad and the bread. The salad was very small and very little dressing on it. The bread tasted like toast that you put in the toaster at home and little burnt. The butter was the only savior to the bread that we got. I got the special for the night which was butternut squash ravioli and again a very small portion and the taste was bland with no flavor at all. Also the price for the special wasn’t announced when she went over the special. My bf ended up getting the lasagna and again a very small dish with mostly noodles swimming in a gross overwhelming with sweetness sauce. The waitress never came over to give us more bread and the other staff there kept checking on us more than she did. Then we ended up getting 2 desserts which was a cannoli and a lemon cake. The cannolis that came in 2 were miniature and you could eat it in 2 bites or so. The shell of the cannoli tasted stale as well. The lemon cake was descent, but by that we were disgusted by everything to even enjoy it. We paid around $70 and we didn’t even get drinks. After everything it left us still hungry to where we had to pick a pizza up afterwards. Im Italian and this does not come close to the Italian food that I’m use to at all. All in all we will not return and we are still upset over the experience and the price we paid for little food. Hope this helps everyone that wants to try this and I I would give 0 stars if I could!

Went here last night with my friend in town visiting from Florida. When the “parking lot” was pretty much nonexistent bc there was not really pavement in sight just broken up old mud road (I’m not sure what to even call it,) with giant craters, completely flooded out, I couldn’t tell if I was even going to make it through, trying to park, or if my car was going to be swallowed up whole and I’d never be seen again, we should have turned around and left at the point. Cars filled the side “street” so finally we risked it and drove through the mud and pond size flooded whole that was the entrance to the parking lot…??? I’m not even sure. Upon entering we were slightly impressed with the cute decor (a lot of faux flower stuff, probably bought at the dollar tree.) We were seated at our table practically on top of all the other tables, might as well have went to a hibachi restaurant if I wanted to eat with strangers. Then…. The limited menu that we were not made aware of when we made our reservation. $60 per person for 6 “course” meal of food that most likely was also supplied by the dollar tree. The zuppa was COLD. Again, we wanted to leave then but did not want to make a scene as the other patrons were all right on top of us basically. The “caprese” mozzarella cheese was not fresh at all. I could tell it was definitely close to the expiration date as the texture was terrible. The entree I was served “shrimp flamingo” was supposed to be spaghetti and it was easy to detect that it was package ramen noodles with (or without) a sauce that was supposed to be pink but it didn’t seem like it had any sauce at all on it, and was completely flavorless. The shrimp on it was so bad it had to have came from a can. It definitely was not fresh. Long story short, with my friends two glasses of wine plus tip, we wasted well over $200!!! This place is an unacceptable imposter that tries to present itself as upscale when it’s far LESS than truck stop quality with 5 star prices. DO NOT GO HERE!!! This is the worst experience I have EVER had anywhere in America at a restaurant. It is beyond me and completely mind blowing that they have a 4.4 star Google rating. We are FW transplants from an old mob town with thick Italian culture where we were raised on authentic Italian food. This place is selling you ramen and calling it spaghetti. So so so bad. I’m embarrassed for being duped and I regret not just getting up and walking out after being served cold soup. I repeat— DO NOT GO HERE!!!
