Pleasant dining experience all around for my family. Good menu options and variety, as you would expect for the type of cuisine. The pulled pork was good, the Mac salad was on point and the sweet sauce had some very nice spice to it. Kids meals are pretty straightforward. The pineapple vegetarian fried rice was awesome too. Recommend spot to visit, with pretty good staff. Pricing wasn’t bad and the environment/atomospehere was cool.

Let me start off by praising the staff. The crew here is very friendly and inviting. The food here hits different. The quality is top notch and the portions are hefty. I had the pork plate and man the flavor and texture are on point. The macaroni salad was dope as well. For a drink I had a Mai Tai which was such a refreshing cocktail for a summer lunch. I highly recommend this establishment as well as the donut shop attached to the front. Bring your kids too as they will enjoy the decor and after you can take a stroll around Coronado and soak in the vibe.

An awesome establishment too to bottom. Started with a nicely balanced spicy Margarita along with the savory volcano fries. Both were the level to add a little nuance and dimension without searing off any taste buds. Next I ordered the kalua pork plate, which along with being moist and flavorful, was a pretty hefty portion! Definitely a great value.

Along with that, the hostess and the server were prompt and attentive. Will definitely come back!

Went for Brunch and it was amazing!! Lots of seating inside but there may be a wait if you go on a Saturday! We got lucky and didn’t have to wait long.

All the food ordered was amazing!! The pancakes were fluffy and delicious! The chicken and churro waffles was cooked to perfection! And the locomoco was great! I loved the pulled pork sandwich and Mac salad!

They had a full drink menu! With plenty of fun drinks to offer!! We got the mimosa and the espresso martini!

The islander has a fun atmosphere. The food was hit and miss, but good overall. We really enjoyed the apps – the volcano fries, poke tacos, pupu platter and nachos. The chicken and shrimp tacos were bland, I wouldn’t recommend those. The other entrees – burger and pork dish were good.

Came here from out of state to visit this area and the experience was…weird.
We walked in and saw their happy hour and thought it would be a good idea to swing on through. (Party of 4)

The atmosphere is super chill which is what we wanted but other than that it was a very “meh” experience.

The food was insanely overpriced and underwhelming to say the least. Maybe I’m jaded to good value & prices but this was not it.
The happy hour taco I got (single beef taco) was literally something from Taco Bell but just a better shell. It never specified if it was crunchy or soft. When I asked what all came on it I got a little bit of sass from the server (maybe she misunderstood) but she said just the taco and that’s it. I re-asked my question and she said it was beef, cheese and lettuce.
The beef wasn’t seasoned and very greasy.
The taco itself was pretty small. $5

The kids meal had some basic beef slider burgers that didn’t look appetizing or appealing, the fries were good and it came with a tiny portion of fruit. Food was warm and not hot. $12
When they brought out the kids menu they forgot crayons multiple times and we had to finally go ask the hostess for some.

The Volcano Fries came in a big bowl and the fries themselves were really good. Everyone liked the fries and that was $7 (which, IMO was a great value for portion size) fries are not spicy as advertised and came off more as sweet if anything.

The Mai tai’s were super strong and amazing!! Especially for $8 they killed it. I think they should really stick to drinks because that is their niche. Food, as stated above was below average, underwhelming, misdescribed, and not anything to write home about.

Jason was a great waiter for his attention to detail and focus on customer satisfaction. The burger I ordered showed up cooked exactly as I asked, medium well. It was delicious. The only critique I could see anyone having of it is that it’s too ordinary. But that’s exactly how it’s described on the menu. It was a regular hamburger with some Hawaiian pork tossed in. The Mac salad was also rich, creamy, and filling. They keep the restaurant clean and appealing which I also appreciate.

I really wanted to like this place, we were looking for a restaurant similar to Trader Vics, and this sounded like a win. We just happened to be in San Diego on an errand in afternoon rush hour and thought let’s head over to Coronado and eat at this place. First off, it’s on a busy street, with only street parking, not their fault but I wonder how restaurants get enough bodies in to profit when you have to walk 5 blocks from your parking spot in some neighborhood. I had a “While Lotta Colada” which is a cocktail served in a pineapple. It was very good and has great presentation, even at it $25 price tag. My wife got a Caiprahina, which was not sweet and literally had all ice and 3 sips to it before it was gone -$16 ouch! She was not happy and then the waitress asked if she wanted another… nope. Just water. My wife got the Happy Hour Kalua Pork taco which was very good and very generous at the price point. We got an appetizer of Volcano fries, which was supposed to be honey glazed with siracha and aoili – it was just too spicy for me, my wife did enjoy them even though she doesn’t normally like spicy foods. I got the Khalua Pork Sandwich which was good, a bit sweet but it took had a spicy kick to it that I wasn’t excited about, and it came with a Mac Salad, which was pretty good, sweet but vinegary. Not sure I’d go again, except maybe to get that big pineapple cocktail. I was actually surprised at how limited the menu was. Service was pretty good, but somehow food arrived before cocktails, even though we ordered cocktails way before the food.
