This was the worst food ever. Fat not trimmed from oxtails. Consistency and color wrong. Beans in the beans and rice were burnt. Rice was dried out. Uncooked onions in the stew ??? Both dishes were horrible . This is your only warning . After eating there, I am convinced that all of these positive reviews are fake.

When I first entered the restaurant it was 10/07/25 at 3:55 Pm. The atmosphere was really nice. I enjoy the pictures and music that was being played. I met the guy and his wife of the establishment and was excited to try Haitian food because I’ve never tried it. I can be very detailed but let’s get straight to it. There’s no nice way to put this but my excitement led me into curiosity. I’m a firm believer of giving new businesses a chance and time to improve. Apparently the issue is they’re understaffed which leads to various problems like wait time, food quality and service to customers. My first visit during a non busy time was amazing, I tried oxtail and really enjoyed then the chicken curry. Of course when I give this review it comes from me showing up several times. So now we are in 10/26/25 and I’ve been to the restaurant on 10/24/25 at 5 Pm. My second visit was at a time when it got fairly busy. I understand there’s one or two chef but as I observe the second time that the worker server showed up late and other issues caused for people to be upset because of wait time and getting the wrong order which I know they are trying. I’m rating low because for various considerable reasons. The guy did a fantastic job in being welcoming but the wife not so much. I ordered Bouyon excited to try the traditional Haitian dish. I ordered it with lamb meat and they explained it took awhile to cook which I requested rice but realize I expressed it was fine only because I wanted to give them a chance and knew the circumstances. Honestly I waited longer than expected almost 1hr 30min and the food (in a to go carry out) tasted very salty and I paid $16 for it which I felt at the moment dissatisfied due to the fact of the taste, time, and experience. I know people read reviews and if I could have expressed to them my honest thoughts before this then I would but they don’t make that possible since I had to come in the next day which I should’ve been reimbursed but instead I got a free small order of rice. So this is the only place I can share. I’m rather sad because the food was over salted and I waited a long time and I felt that I was ignored, as in my food not being served as I was there before many other customers on several occasions at that time and there was an explanation of what’s happening to my food in why it was taking long. What’s my point? If you truly desire to try such foods. I just want you to consider what experience your going for. I’m not only about good food but want to be treated as a customer that has the opportunity to share with the owners what they could do to improve the overall experience. When ordering I always feel that urge, out of excitement, to try new or different foods and can overlook what essentially matters and that’s feedback. When you want to do better you give the opportunity for the customer to voice their experience. So I knew it was salty but when I returned the next day after the date mentioned above the cook tries to tell me the experience I should have had and what I could’ve done to fix it. I wasn’t concerned with the food as much as the feedback. My experience can be voiced here to help others understand that I’ve been several times. Not once or twice but three times and dumped over $50 not feeling well because various issues. So I wanted to be a credible voice to help you decide if you should go with a detailed explanation of my experience. Now if the owners would like to discuss more about the reviews I gave, I would like to discuss more because there’s more concerns I have that hasn’t been addressed. For those who are looking to try consider what experience you want for the restaurant is new and starting off with issues that need to be addressed to be fully operational.

I’ll admit, I was a little skeptical at first since this restaurant only had one review—but I’m so glad I decided to give it a try! From the moment I walked in, the staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. The food was excellent—authentic, flavorful, and prepared with so much care.
What really stood out was the owner. She personally came out to greet me, took the time to talk, and even gave me extra sauces to make the meal even better. She also surprised me with a complimentary lemon water that was honestly better than any lemonade I’ve ever had—fresh, light, and the perfect touch to the meal.
That kind of thoughtfulness and hospitality made the whole experience feel special, like dining with family. If you’re considering trying this place, don’t hesitate. It’s a hidden gem with amazing food, warm service, and a genuine passion for sharing Haitian cooking. I’ll definitely be back!

We had reservations for a Friday night and ended up having a family emergency. We called to see if we could come in later and they were so accomodating! We ended up getting there as the restaurant was supposed to close. We were welcomed and treated like royalty. Since it was my husband’s birthday and they knew we were having a rough day, they all came out of the back and sang Happy Bday to him. They took our order and truly gave us a wonderful experience. My husband had the goat soup and Red Snapper, I had the stewed chicken, rice and peas and plantains. Everything was delicious and I will never forget the way we were treated during a difficult time. These are the type of Restaurant Owners we need to support! Awesome service and great food prepared with LOVE! I highly recommend!!

This place is delicious! It is nice to have something new downtown that is different and affordable. I had the fried pork and the flavor was very robust. Headed back to taste the rest of the menu real soon! The owners are present, genuine, and hard working! Go give them a try Aiken! You will not regret it!

Had lunch today with a buddy of mine at Island Taste, on Lawrence Street
, and the food was delicious and fresh. The owners served us, took our order and came by often to make sure everything was delicious. I highly recommended it for some good Jamacian/ Haitian food.

I really enjoyed my food and experience both times I visited. The owners are very friendly and always ask what they can do to improve the customers experience. They’re very appreciative of their customers support and want to make sure that the customer has an amazing experience. This is was my first time trying Haitian cuisine and it was very good. The food with very fulfilling and worth the price. I really enjoyed the sides, the jerk chicken, and the oxtail.

My first time visiting this place for lunch and I was not disappointed. The flavor, the freshness and the creativity is THERE! I don’t think I’ve ever tasted chicken marinated like that. The pickleez (I hope I spelled it right) mix went so well with the cabbage. the cook came from the kitchen to explain how it’s made, and I appreciated that so much. The ambiance gives what its supposed to give however I’m not sure if they serve alcohol bc I didn’t see any at the bar. I can tell that these owners love what they do and are looking to stay around! I’ll be back for sure and I’m bringing friends with me!

I have been twice, and the food is excellent. I love the jerk chicken, and the sides are great too. However, they serve cans of soda and bottled water. There’s no free water option. Because the food is spicy, you pretty much have to order multiple drinks which makes the meal more expensive than it needs to be and generates a lot of waste. If they’d fix that, I’d be back all the time!
