Well. Bathrooms leave a bit to desire, felt like being on a tilt a whirl in the men’s room.
But the food…. best I’ve had in a long while, onion rings outstanding, had turkey sandwich great and tenderloin perfect.
Prices I thought reasonable given today’s inflationary market. Stop in you can’t go wrong.

We came 12/31 ar 4:00pm. We got the pulled pork and the pork tenderloin with onion rings and onion/chive fries. The food is is PHENOMENAL, I do not exaggerate. The Sam Addams batter on the pork tenderloin was out of sight. Amazing! The onion rings were fantastic and the sauce that came with them and the fries was on point. Seriously, best food in a 100 mile radius I’ve had and I’ve lived here half my life! The staff is friendly and helpful and the restaurant was so clean and well kept. Fantastic. The atmosphere was great, though we got to go orders so we didnt have to wake up my kiddo on the car so were werent inside for too long but we’ll definitely come back soon. Our server, who i wish I had caught her name, who took our order brought our food to the car! Amazing lady. Good vibes all around. I can’t stress enough about the staff…. the cooks were even friendly!

We were fishing for the day at nearby Lake Ellis. Looking for dinner when we got done. Didn’t know what to expect but we were absolutely blown away. Service, food and atmosphere were absolutely top notch! And it wasn’t overly expensive like places in Des Moines. We’ll definitely be back.

We had an outstanding meal at the Iron Horse Charitone on 4/15/22 – everything was delicious, our server was pleasant, efficient & kept our drinks filled – the onion rings & shrimp batter was super delicious & the Bread pudding was perfect – good cocktails too! We plan on returning soon!

We were passing through and hungry! It was amazing food and I was able to stay within my calorie budget and I appreciate that. The Cajun Shrimp was amazing! My husband had the fish and it was also amazing! That tartar sauce was bomb!! Abbie was our server and she was fantastic!! We’ll be back next trip through!!

Feels like an older hotel situated in the heart of downtown Chariton, Ia. Seated quickly and our server Payton was right on cue getting drink orders. I had the bacon mac and cheese with chicken added and she had the Carolina burger. Everything came out quickly and cooked very well. Mac n cheese sauce was very creamy and chix was nice and tender. Wife’s burger was very well presented. I must say they did a great job in the kitchen. Food was extremely delicious and plentiful. Payton was an awesome server taking our order, checking back, and closing our bill. I would love to come back and try a different dish.

Everything here was fantastic, I will definitely come back and try everything on the menu. This 1st time i ordered the Carolina Burger with side of slaw, and got an extra of SC chive fries (there ranch is bomb tied with Big Nose Kates) the place is nice and just relaxing, My server she was awesome Mikenzy B (its what was on the receipt) awesome thank you so much for serving me. The kitchen crew where i was sitting right next to those guys are great was listening now and then. Hostess liked her alot(nice chucks) all around very great experience. Thank you and i will be coming back

We were in Chariton yesterday running an errand and decided on this place for lunch. Great food!! Loved the onion rings, breaded tenderloin, fries, and sauces. Food was piping hot and fresh. The only negative about the food is they could have let the oil drain from the tenderloin a bit more, but that did not diminish how good it was really.
The service was awesome, I cannot remember the servers name, but she was pleasant and attentive to our needs. Great job!!!

The fish and chips was amazing! Came out hot and crispy with some great tartar sauce. Everything was very good including the iced tea. This is my favorite restaurant in Chariton. Service is also very good, server came by to refill our drinks.
