Social Profile:

In Ireland — where they’ve raised community to an artform — the pub is the social center, a place to meet family & friends, catch up on news, debate politics, share a joke. Since 1993, we’ve tried to recreate this idea in Louisville. We can’t build a smoky peat fire in the grate, but our recipes are authentic, the Guinness is shipped from Dublin, and the owner’s brogue comes direct from County Clare. We invite you to join the many people who have enthusiastically adopted the joys of pub culture.

Scotch eggs, fish ‘n’ chips & other Irish pub grub, plus stouts & ales, typify this homey haunt.

We were looking for a fish sandwich and came across the Irish Rover. They have fish and chips which definitely lived up to its reputation. Portions were huge, My husband and I could’ve actually shared it and been comfortably full. I ended up taking half of my fish fillet home and popped it in the air fryer along with the fries the next day and it was just as good, believe it or not! The Scottish egg was definitely a must try And we were not sorry, it was Excellent. The historic building oozed with nostalgia and just like that, you imagined being at a pub in Ireland. The atmosphere was very laid-back, all age groups of people dinning out, The bar was super cool with almost every seat full. It was a little loud, it was around 3:30 in the afternoon on New Year’s Eve, but that’s to be expected. You could sit at the bar or at some tables around the bar, they have two additional rooms with Seating available… One room has a wood-burning fireplace providing perfect Ambience for relaxing and enjoying some of the best comfort food I’ve ever had. The wait staff was efficient, Very Knowledgeable and to the point, there was a very little time to be personable though. So if you’re in the area, go give it a try, and if you’re not in the area like us, make a special trip.

Wonderful atmosphere. They have a cosy booth for 2 facing out to the street (booth 26). So intimate and quiet. We enjoyed watching the cars on Frankfort Ave. Parking was a little bit of a chore since the lot was full on a Friday night, but side street was adequate. We had a Scottish egg and the cod fish. Fantastic. The chocolate cake was devine. Will come again.

First time in the states for me, I wanted something familiar so, got to look for the Irish places near by.
This place is genuinely Irish.
Really enjoyed the food (potato and leek soup, and fish and chips. Had to get dessert tk go because i was so full).
Wait staff was so nice, very polite, helpful, and easy to talk to (thank you Elaine).
Owner was making sure to get around to talk to people, which was great. Getting to have that personal feel.
The aesthetics of the place, it really felt like something from back home in Ireland with the decor. The old wooden furniture that you would see in a traditional Irish pub or restaurant.

I’ll definitely be going back!

Absolutely amazing! I’d love the atmosphere and music regardless due to my heritage, but the food was delightful! Guinness chocolate cake is the BEST restaurant dessert I’ve ever had. It’s more of a chocolate cheesecake with an even thicker layer of chocolate buttercream on top. Bangers and mash fantastic and cottage pie good too.

Fish and chips were unreal. Closed my eyes. I was back in Ireland. Proper Guinness pour. Rare in the States. Scotch egg might be the best I have ever had. Every bite felt authentic. Highly recommend. This place nailed it.

Fabulous Irish pub. I had the fish and chips and Mom had the lamb stuffed cabbage. We also shared a cheese plate. We both agree that the lamb stuffed cabbage was the best! I don’t know what magic they use to make their mashed potatoes but wow! We’re definitely going to return.

A nice pub with big personality. The inside is great, and has a homey and comfortable vibe. There’s a bar area with booths and the rest of the rooms are table seating. The fish and chips is the thing, and the chips are great. I went with the grilled cheese and it was huge. I wish the cheese would’ve been melted a bit more though. Lots of beers to select from and some very Irish/English options. The service was fast and friendly.

The food was hit and miss. The beef stew has a porridge consistency, not really a stew. But it did taste good. The fish and chips on the other hand was really good, crispy not excessively oily and very flavorful. Service was ok, the server was nice and attentive when we could get her attention.

Classic Irish Pub in an old house on Frankfort Avenue. IMO they have the best fish n chips in town, along with other pub staples. Great place to gather with friends or just have a pint – they have been doing it for a long time because they are authentic.

The food was excellent. I had the lamb stuffed cabbage. The restaurant also had a good selection of whiskies, Irish, Scotch and American. Our waitress was excellent. Her service was fast and friendly. Recommend reservations for larger parties.
