Had a great time at Irish Cottage. This place really feels like a true Irish pub. The wood bar, classic décor, and authentic Irish music create a great atmosphere that feels warm and genuine.

Kara, the bartender, was fantastic — friendly, attentive, and she pours a perfect pint.

The menu is simple and no-frills, which I actually loved. Just classic pub food done right. I ordered the Reuben sandwich, and it was excellent — thick corned beef, melted Swiss, sauerkraut, grilled rye, and very generous portions. The sweet potato fries were also great.

I paired it with a pint of Smithwick’s, which was the perfect match for the Reuben.

If you’re looking for an authentic Irish pub in Methuen with great food, big portions, good music, and friendly service, Irish Cottage is definitely worth the visit. I’ll absolutely be back.

Went for dinner and the service was great. Started with buff chick dip and it was delicious. I got garlic parm chicken wings and greek salad. The chicken wings were nice and crispy, but surprisingly didn’t really have much flavor. My sisters loved their meals – braised short ribs and baked haddock. Ended with some holiday cocktails since they sounded good, but were so strong we couldn’t finish them (clearly not a martini drinkers LOL). Will def be back!

Such a fun old school Irish pub. They have Irish “street signs” on the walls, inside and out. You can tell they’ve been there a while with the old posters near the bathrooms. But keep up a fun, fresh seasonal menu. Lots of gluten free options like salads and nachos, you just have to ask for no croutons and such. Must try their Celtics nachos

Came in on a Thursday at about 145pm. The parking lot was busy, and the bar was busy.
We said hello first to the hostess who was just leaning back on the counter, but facing us. We thought we would be greeted with a smile and a warm hello but nope. It was awkward. We asked for a high chair as we had a toddler, and she responded with “ill see if we have one”. Okay, we’ll sat down at a very large table for just 2 adults and a child sitting on the edge. The table was FILTHY, as was the high chair. We had to use our baby wipes to clean it off but the menus, also dirty and sticky, kept sticking to the table.
Our waitress who never told us her name, took a while to greet us. She asked if we wanted drinks, we replied with just water. She then paused and asked what adult drinks we wanted. When we said none, she looked at us oddly. We do not drink but felt like it set the tone for our service.
We had to get her attention to order appetizers. We also ordered our son’s lunch. She never returned until we were basically done with appetizers. Our son got the wrong meal but we did not want to wait for the correct one.

By the time we ordered our late lunch, I mentioned we wanted to order a to go dinner too, so we didnt have to wait.. our toddler doesnt last long in places. She literally walked away. So that changed our minds about having dinner from here. She checked in with other tables behind us many times, as it seemed they were “regulars” and this being our first time dining here, she checked in only twice (aside from the 2 times she only took our orders). I flagged her down for boxes to pack up our food in, and order dessert to go (i checked their website before arriving). I asked if they were made in house and she said nothing was. Which made me think, when I asked for cheese on my burger other than american she said they only have american (yet many items on the menu have mozzarella, Swiss etc) does that mean many items were previously frozen?
All in all, food tasted fine. The Philly spring rolls were ok. Kind of bland with a greasy taste and the sauce was kind of displeasing. It tasted like a sweet Tabasco which I dont think compliments the rolls much.
The wings were crispy. We got a large half garlic parmesan half Asian chili. There was no blue cheese and I had to ask for it.
My son got tenders instead of nuggets. While this doesnt seem like a big deal, my son is autistic so it is a very big deal, because he will eat a nugget but not a tender. He enjoyed the fries, they seemed crispy outside and fluffy inside.
We got burgers for main courses. Mine was the Mac smash which is kind of like a big Mac, with onion rings instead of fries. I liked the onion rings. The burger was so so. The cheese was off putting as it looked like a plastic pre-sliced, slice of Kraft cheese from the grocery section, that doesnt melt well. It stuck to the inside of my teeth, so after 2 bites I stopped eating it.
The other burger was on the weekly specials but only half was eaten.
Lastly the dessert we got to go (which i dont have photos of) we better. One was the banana foster ice cream pie. It was melted a bit when I got home only 10 min drive, so I ate it and it was delicious. The other dessert I will eat later, the pumpkin cheesecake.
One other note, the bathroom, specifically the changing table, had food all over it, on the inside where a child lays.
Sadly, I dont think we would recommend this place for dine in as the atmosphere and service were terrible. Between the hostess and waitress nobody was warm or friendly. There was a opportunity to order 3 meals to go but we decided on another place because of the Service.

The portions were large and very reasonably priced. We all had left overs! We were seated in front of the Irish band that was playing. The music was good, but made conversation a little difficult.
We brought a a guest there who is from Houston. She was impressed!

Great Irish pub. Staff was very friendly and the food was great. Very popular place, although they seated us quickly. The atmosphere was fun even better when the live music started. Can’t wait to go back.

A huge and diverse menu, but with proper Irish fare as well. Family friendly, not too loud so you can chat over the meal. A sizeable seating area, but I’d call for reservations – our 25-30 minute wait was well worth it. Our waitstaff was Samantha, who was friendly, knowledgeable and prompt without hanging over your table. A solid 2 thumbs up!!!

The 5 of us had a great time at the Irish Cottage. Bangers, cornbeef, fish and chips, turkey dinner and some dessert. All the food was very good. I would say that the cheese cake portion was very small, otherwise good portions. Service was fast and friendly. Lots of items left to try on the menu.

The atmosphere is great. The service is great. THE POUTINE IS EVEN BETTER…. but these double baked wings are disgusting! They are dry, burnt and with no seasoning 🙁
