Ate here while staying at The George Hotel. Mouth-watering and delicious!
.
The Independent’s Ceasar Salad – the romaine was chared with little hints of perfect bitterness that went perfectly with the Housemade Ceasars Dressing.
.
The Pork Belly Appatizer – like no other pork belly we’ve had. It was salty, supple, and sweet; It went perfectly with the greens and grits beneath.
.
C.A.B. Prime Ribeye – there are no words, but I’ll try. It was melt in your mouth incredible cooked at a perfect med-rare. The red wine demi was a perfect sauce to to with it, and the herded butter was a delicious decision on their part.
.
The Yukon Whipped Potatoes – mmmmmmmm. So silky smooth.
.
The Brussel Sprouts- get out of here with that!!! May I have a bucket of them, please??? Aggghhhh So. Good.
.
Teacher’s Pet Cocktail – granny smith perfection. That’s it. If you love a granny smith apple, you will love this. I guess Im a gin fan now too – thanks Independent!
.
Dirty Martini with Blue Cheese Stuffed Olives – they spoiled us with alllllll the olives. Which is exactly the right amount – extra olives and extra dirty.
.
Hummingbird Cake – do yourself a favor and just get it. Just do it, you won’t be upset. I definitely wasn’t!
.
Overall, just a very beautiful experience. The team was so kind and made sure we were taken care of.
.
It’s not easy being allergic to shellfish in a coastal region, but they made me feel so safe . Definitely recommend a million times!

Dined at the Independent during an overnight stay at The George. We sat at the bar and enjoyed the drinks and conversation with the bartender. The food was slow to arrive but the customer service more than made up for it. The crab dip was tasty, but as a Marylander, I was looking for more crab. The flat iron steak was flavorful, and came sliced for a tender bite. Really enjoyed both the hotel, outside bar area and the Independent and would come again.

What a great experience at The Independent. Natasha was our server and no exaggeration she was one of the best servers I’ve ever had. The food was amazing—definitely recommend the deviled eggs, Parmesan fries, and Brussel sprouts. Our group had steaks, crab cakes, and shrimp and grits. Portions were perfect. The vibe was unmatched. From Jenn to Hunter to the gals running food/water and all the other staff we had an incredible dinner. Ended up outside at Eliza’s for some live music and a night cap. Highly recommend adding The George to your stop in Georgetown.

Had an extremely nice Saturday Night dining experience here. The atmosphere was excellent, the staff were all professionals, and the food was superb. One of the better overall experiences I’ve had in a while, really enjoyed being able to have nice conversation with the people I was with.. without having to shout, or ask people to repeat the entire time! Our server was great and she had wonderful recommendations as well.

We had a nice meal at this fairly new hotel restaurant. They have done a nice job with both the hotel and restaurant. Service was excellent. The food was nice and well presented. The shrimp are the best deal on the menu- we did not care for the pickled strawberries!

We ate twice at the Independent during our stay at the George Hotel. The first night I had the snapper over succotash that our waiter, Sean, recommended. My husband had a steak and raved about the cream of corn. Drinks were excellent. The next night we ate in the bar area and our family joined us. Smashed burgers and drinks all the way around. Sean was our bartender and again drinks were excellent. Natasha waited on us, very friendly. The atmosphere is great, both servers – Sean and Natasha – were professional yet personable and added to our great experience, food was wonderful. A great getaway weekend!

Truly a fantastic experience from start to finish for a family birthday dinner. Service was impeccable and our server knew her menu very well, steering and guiding us in the right direction for entree choices. We showed up with ideas for appetizers and weren’t disappointed in either the cornbread with the honey butter (so soft and with just the right amount of sweet) or the mussels, which were some of the best I have had. Our server also brought us the Fried Blue Crab Fingers and the remoulade with them was absolutely spot on.

Our entrees were the scallops which are a slightly smaller portion, but delectable. Next was the Flat Iron, perfectly cooked at medium temperature for our taste.
The Shrimp and Grits were a backup choice for one of us, but our server again cued us here, letting us know it was one of her favorite dishes and others as well. They were light and fluffy and packed with flavor. Lastly, the Red Drum was a highlight as well, having replaced the Flounder.

Dessert was Mile High Key Lime Pie, home made vanilla ice cream and a newer dessert for fall with apple, cinnamon and vanilla ice cream that was like fall in your mouth! Oh and even the espresso was really delicious and I am saying this after having just gotten back from Italy 2 weeks ago.

It is a little loud in the restaurant, but not nearly as bad as some other reviews made it out to be, though it was only about 2/3 full that evening since we were an earlier seating. You can make a really fun evening out of the experience though for sure and don’t forget the outdoor bar at the back of the hotel, esp. about sunset!

This restaurant is attached to Georgetown Hotel and our first night after travel was perfect! We ordered Crab Fingers, Blackened Swordfish with mashed potatoes and blue crab and the fish special; whole Red Fish! Our server Hunter did a great job!

This was our first time dining here and we were really excited because we had heard great things from friends of ours. The server was great, the food was great and the atmosphere was cozy. However, when we first arrived we initially decided to sit at the bar. The bartender (who we later found out was the bar manager) seemed extremely annoyed that we decided to sit there. It was an empty bar and it was still early in the evening that we thought it would be nice to look out the window and see the happenings on the street. He slapped the menus on the counter and muttered let me know when you are ready and then left. No hello, no introduction and no recommendations, nothing. We watched him walk out of restaurant and was left very confused. 15 mins had gone by and we were ready to order so we let the host know and she said “oh he is probably in the office, I’ll go get him”. We thought it was strange but we decided to ignore it and continue on with our evening. We ended up ordering our drinks and the mussels and a couple of baked oysters. The drinks were good but those mussels were incredible!! I’m still dreaming about them. We tried to ask the bartender for recommendations on entrees and wine pairings and his attitude was just terrible. It was really starting to put a damper on our evening. My husband decided to go speak to the hostess to see if we could move to a table, she was extremely sweet and got us moved quickly and thankfully faraway from the bar. Our server came quickly and she was outstanding. We mentioned the bad service at the bar and she said “oh that’s just ‘insert name’, he is just like that” (I wish I could remember his name). After talking for a little bit we actually found out that he ran the bar and we were in shock! Someone with that attitude and no care for the customer should 1. Not be working in the service industry and 2. Definitely not be running it! The host, food, and waitress saved the night for us. The ribeye was fantastic and perfectly cooked, the fish special was to die for and they even gifted us a dessert which was mouth watering. All in all, I think you all really need to take a look at who have at the bar, but the rest of the staff and the food was great.

Had a birthday meal here and the service and attentiveness was top notch. Ruthie was our server and was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The staff all signed a birthday card and presented a little gift package of golf balls, tees, and a towel because they knew my interests prior to arrival. This is high level class to ensure our experience was one to remember. We had a nice variety of appetizers which were all delicious, as were our main courses and desserts. A+ all around. Thank you for a great night!
