I’ve been to many dozens of BBQ restaurants from St. Louis to KC. If this isn’t the best BBQ in the USA, then whatever people say, could only equal this perfection at best. Personally, I don’t think there is an equal. I got the charcuterie. Ribs, pulled pork, brisket, andouille sausage, slaw, homemade kettle s&v chips, and hush puppies. All are the best I have ever had. It was a heap of phenomenal food, in a beautiful historical building. The service was amazing and friendly. Top notch in every way! I didn’t even use the sauces but I tried them alone. The banana pudding was also miraculous. Insane value, especially for anything I have ever seen.

This was an incredible find in this downtown area of Fort Mill. The service was amazing. Jalepeno Cheesy Grits were delicious. Never knew that existed. Geni was especially attentive! Highly recommend this place.

Bottom line – unfortunately, some of the worst ribs I’ve ever had.

While I was once a fan of the Improper Pig, it has sadly declined in my last few visits. I wrote off the previous poor experiences with the food as off nights but this was by far the worst and the nail on the coffin.

As the pics show, most of the slab and a half of ribs we purchased were burnt. The rest were completely dry. All of it honestly should have been tossed out instead of given to a customer.

Making matters worse was that this was a Togo order so we didn’t discover how bad this batch of food was until we had gotten home.

Disappointing as this was once one of the better bbq spots in the area.

The staff was friendly and the restaurant itself remains nice. But ultimately it’s about the food and consistency and it’s a miss on both those fronts right now. Definitely better quality and more consistent bbq joints in the area.

Had a wonderful dinner here. It’s great to see how they’ve kept much of the original character of the building. Large portions and reasonable prices. Our server was knowledgeable and made menu suggestions. Will have to come back for the desserts.

Super friendly staff… Never tried American bbq with Asian Fusion before and was pleasantly surprised. Never expected experiencing the ‘wok hei’ at a bbq place in South Carolina! Love brisket so ordered it, but came out pretty dry… Server came right back with another portion of juicy brisket without me asking… Great customer service and a definite recommend! #southernhospitality

We stopped into The Improper Pig in Fort Mill for lunch and really enjoyed it. I had a salad with chicken and my wife had chicken with spicy green beans. Everything was delicious and the chicken was perfectly juicy. My wife’s portion was huge, she couldn’t even finish it, so you’re definitely getting your money’s worth.

One thing that stood out was the six sauces they have at each table. They’re all unique and all delicious, which is a nice touch that lets you mix things up throughout your meal. We will definitely be back as we want to work our way through more of their menu. Great spot for lunch in Fort Mill.

Came here for the first time for Father’s Day and it was just ok. Way higher on pricing than most of the BBQ places in the Charlotte area. $19 for a 2 meat (more for brisket) platter of pork and chicken? $1.50 up charge for a premium side when the price difference in sides is only $1? Forcing a $4 upcharge for a kids meal when you have an adult who isn’t able to eat much. The baked Mac skillet was ok but $15 with pork added. It’s a tiny amount of pork compared to the amount my wife got on the 1 meat platter for $16. The salt and vinegar chips were not fried all the way. Just simply not worth the price. I’ve had better even at Jim and Nick’s.

The waiter was friendly and did a good job. The restaurant itself is nice and inviting. It’s just unfortunate it’s overpriced mid level BBQ

multiple stalls that are shared with the brewery next door. You’re gonna be visiting the bathrooms if you have the spicy green beans

Are here a few weeks ago and haven’t gotten around to this. We enjoy BBQ so we usually seek out bbq places. This was pretty good. They have a ton of sauces to try. With that said, there were only 2 I liked and one I really liked. Plenty of choices for sides as well. The sweet potato fries were the best I’ve had. My guess is the seasoning. I ate far too many of them. Seriously, I was full but they tasted so good. Luckily we were walking around town after. Pulled chicken was good. Portion sizes were generous and the service was good. I’d eat here again if I find myself in Fort Mill again.

Food was tasty. Loved that they had multiple sauces to choose from. I like South Carolina and Eastern NC, my wife likes honey bbq and we could each have what we wanted. Also, had some unique sauces. Amanda our server was on it. Definitely will come back. Great food, service and atmosphere. 5 stars.
