We did the 7-course tasting menu for New Years Eve. I will start with the positive: the restaurant has an absolutely beautiful ambiance. Very unique and special. The staff are warm and helpful. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely atrocious. The various dishes were dull and flavorless. Cold mussels lacked flavor, the beets might have been just boiled and plated with garnish, two of the tiniest boiled carrots ever served, risotto that lacked seasoning and was tough and dense, wagyu tasted like sirloin soaked in oil and pounded with a mallet to give it a dense yet oily consistency. And the dessert was just meh. Kind of stale / tough donut-like thing with an overpowering hazelnut flavor (and I love hazelnut). Literally nothing to write home about, and it takes a lot to mess up dessert. $500 later, we walked away hungry and grumpy. I am thoroughly surprised by the great reviews.

Food was creative, employees were knowledgeable and professional. Everyone went above and beyond to make sure our needs were met and we enjoyed our experience. We highly recommend The Immigrant Restaurant to all who visit Kohler.

Where did the 5-star food of the Immigrant Room go? What a disappointment. We were forced to pick from two, very pricey fixed cost menus, offering food we mostly didn’t recognize. We dove in anyway and ordered the five selection option. While the food was creative, geared toward 20-somethings, is that really your target audience? We found many of our items not tasty enough and barely ate but a bite.
Please due your fixed price on one side an offer your customers who have been visiting for 30 years the chance to get the food we have come to know and love.
We would not come back with the current menu intact.
The once bustling restaurant was mostly empty with the few of us all put into one room.
I’ll hope for an improvement. Thank you,
Joanie Rosen

I had a reservation on Thursday night and had such an amazing experience that I went again on Friday. The caviar and wagyu were highlights for me. The chef is very creative and the dishes were all flavorful. The second night I had the chef’s tasting menu and was slightly disappointed that 3/8 dishes were dessert. Every bite was delicious though and I still left very full and satisfied. My server, Ian, was truly the best. I’d go back just to hang with him. The whole staff was very personable and accommodating. Highly recommend a visit only if you enjoy an adventurous dining experience.

Great dining experience despite a couple of hiccups: I misremembered my reservation date and showed up one month earlier The front desk was kind enough to still seat us. There was an issue with one of the dishes but they resolved it right away. Even bought us extra drinks after our meal. Overall, The food was great (must get the scallop), and the interior was gorgeous. Above all, the service was impressive! Would come back again.

The service was professional but still warm & welcoming – added to the cozy, storied atmosphere. Somm was insanely knowledgeable and the wine pairings amplified each dish. Hard to find unique dishes, but they were so creative in the ingredients and cooking methods used.

Exceeded expectations and such a special experience all around!

We went here for our fifth wedding anniversary and it was a treat. The staff were amazing, attentive, and knowledgeable. We are not fancy folk by any means, and it was very comforting and helpful to have some of the menu items explained and translated for us. Each course was a wonder and we were VERY happy with our food. If you’re looking for somewhere special to celebrate, whether with a group or as an intimate couple, this is your spot!

A innovative dining experience, bravo Chef and staff! It’s very rare to find a creative and delicious menu with solid wine pairings. Miranda was a knowledgeable and personable server. Dinner was definitely a splurge but worth it. Thanks for a wonderful anniversary celebration!

I give it 5 stars based on our experience. First the team/staff/servers were amazing. We have three ladies serving us and we do not have to wait for our food long to arrive. The drink I had Old Wisconsin Old Fashion was the bomb. My wife had the 5 course dinner and I had the lamb chops. Food was exceptionally good! Happy tummy. The price was actually not bad at all.

The Immigrant Restaurant was a great, special dinner for us. Definitely on the pricey side and formal wear was required. The food was exceptional though, definitely the best of our honeymoon trip, and nice for our last night staying at The American Club!!

We had some great drinks, especially the Tommy Boy and the Old Faithful Old Fashioned.

They started us with a small spoon with some cheese, fig, and pistachio as well as a variety of bread with mustard butter (just a hint of mustard flavor from the mustard seeds).

For dinner, my wife had the Halibut with Lobster gnocchi and I had the Wellington. Their take on the Wellington was unique and fantastic! Just a small piece of the puff pastry, not wrapped fully, laying against the perfectly cooked beef. The freshly shaved black truffle, trumpet mushrooms, and purple potatoes were perfect compliments to each bite of the beef.

Overall, this was a great experience and a nice, fancy night out for me and my wife. We really enjoyed ourselves and the food was amazing.
