Icon Restaurant was our brunch stop before heading back to Houston, and overall it was a solid experience with a few tweaks that would take it up a notch. I ordered the Cakes & Tenders—three large, fluffy pancakes that were absolutely on point. The chicken tenders, though, were slightly overcooked, making the meat a bit dry. I honestly would’ve preferred wings instead; they just fit the vibe better. Kaleah had the Chicken & Waffles, which hit flavor-wise, but the wing pieces were pretty small. This dish would shine way more with three full wings instead of small cuts. Koda’s Lamb Chops & Grits were cooked beautifully, and the grits were creamy and well seasoned. We also ordered two plates of the Salmon Bites because they were cooked so damn well—crispy, flavorful, and easily one of the best things on the table.
Drinks were solid—a Classic Mimosa and a Blueberry Lemon Drop that was smooth and balanced. Shoutout to our server Kiara, who was attentive, accommodating, and kept everything moving without hovering. The ambiance is clean, modern, and relaxed—good brunch energy without the chaos.
Overall, Icon does brunch right, but a few small adjustments to the chicken portions and doneness would make it even better. Still a place I’d revisit—just with slightly different expectations next time.

DO NOT RECOMMEND. Don’t believe the hype!!

Highly disappointed because I came here last year and the food was immaculate. This experience was the extreme opposite. I ordered the breakfast hash which I had last time. It was so filling full of flavor. I LITERALLY got 3 pieces of meat. (See picture below).. mind you this is supposed to have goat stew AND beef. No beef was present. Those are goat pieces which are MOSTLY bone.

When we asked the waitress about the missing meat she spoke to the chef and relayed that they have reduced the portion size. Hmm.. that price wasn’t reduced though.. interesting.

My husband had a pancake that tasted like it came out the box. We really could’ve had this at home and it would’ve been much better.

He only got 2 piece of oxtail in his oxtail and grits.

I won’t even start on the SIDE of catfish. (15$) HIGHWAY robbery!!

If I could give zero stars I would. Waste of time and money. The DJ was chill. Sad. Sad. Sad!! $100+ for this? No thank you!!

My friends and I came to Icon Restaurant for Sunday brunch to celebrate my birthday, and it was an amazing experience! Our server, Brenda, was outstanding and went above and beyond—she even had the DJ give me a birthday shout-out and the staff surprised me with free cheesecake and a signed birthday card, which was so thoughtful.

The food was a 10/10. I had the “Cakes and Tenders” (pancakes with chicken strips) and everything was delicious—perfectly seasoned chicken, fluffy pancakes, and great toppings like honey, butter, blueberry compote, and warm syrup. The breakfast potatoes were also excellent, well-seasoned with fresh bell peppers and onions.

Great food, great service, and an unforgettable birthday brunch. I’ll definitely be back!

Horrendous experience. After reading the reviews I actually tried to order what I considered safe. Came on a Thursday evening and they were severely short of staff. Burnt pita bread, the server input the wrong drink order and food. Ordered the pita bread and spinach dip and shrimp flatbread. Asked for the pita bread to be replaced and the waitress stated the best she could do was give me a 50 percent discount $2.50. I explained they were burnt and 25 minutes later I’m still waiting for new pita bread. I absolutely will not be back. And the place is almost empty.

I had a great experience at The Icon in Richardson, and our server TK really made the night stand out. TK was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without us even having to ask. She had a great attitude and made us feel welcome from the moment we sat down.

The food and drinks were really good, but the service is what will bring me back. TK checked on us at the right times, made great recommendations, and kept everything running smoothly. It felt like he genuinely cared that we had a good experience.

If you visit The Icon, definitely ask for TK; you won’t be disappointed! Great service and a great atmosphere overall!

Ok. Honesty… The atmosphere was EVERYTHING!! This is a nice place for grown folk. I’m not even from the area and that’ll be my go to spot when I’m in town. I went for a show and the food wasn’t the best. They were sold out of almost everything except the wings, fries, and rice. I got all 3. The wings were dynamic. Rice, I returned it. Fries, well they were fries. The server was on point. She lives in Temple and drives in on the weekends. KEEP HER!! She made the evening fun. Overall a good place. I’ll be back and hopefully will be able to try other foods.

This is a rare treat. We stumbled across it and didn’t know what to expect. We got the opportunity to meet Chef Craig – Jamaican born and trained. He’s a true innovator of Jamaican/African/Cajun cuisine. Dora the bartender is a delight! Talented and full of positive energy and pours happiness in every glass.

Walking into this gem feels like taking a mini vacation to an island. Between the jamming reggae music, island-style mocktails, and food inspired by a Jamaican chef, it definitely gave me my fix for a while. Chris, our server, was super friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. I’ll definitely be returning!
