I would have given negative stars if it was allowed. I will never return to this location. I came here to pick up an order for a friend who is in the hospital in Iowa city and order myself something to eat for the drive.
Picked up his food and set it down to get something to drink and noticed that I can actually see the food because it is poorly wrapped. Picked it up to show it to them and ask them to wrap it all the way, the bag ripped and fell on the floor. Sandwich would have been fine, but with it being poorly wrapped, it ended up all over their floor. They remade half of his sandwich and STILL wrapped it poorly. Hope the bread doesn’t dry out on the drive because it’s not covered all the way.
Now on to my order, pull out my waffle fries and there is literally half of what I normally get when I order from hungry hobo. There are maybe 6-7 fries in the bag.
Not to mention I could hear them talking crap under their breath and visibly irritated that this had happened

I was surprised to get my order with in minutes of ordering! I paid for my order was getting my drink and they were delivering it to the table!! I had the hot beef sandwich and it was delicious. It was at least a 1/3 pound, maybe even a little more. And I did say that it was delicious!!. 5 stars.

Recommendations: Go somewhere else.
Food: First, the prices are crazy. 65$ for a family of 5, and that was just three fries, 2 kings and 1 regular sandwiches, a soup and drinks. I didn’t even get a dang peanut butter cookie like I love. Second. The fries were hard as bricks. And we had to wait for them to be made.
Service: The lady taking the order, missed two drinks, charged us for a cheese fry, which we didn’t get, and was smug when I asked for ketchup. She sees me waiting patiently at the counter to just get a to-go lid for my soup and she ignores me. A kind lady making sandwiches saw it and asked if she could help. Also, if you saw a family of 5, logically, does three total drinks make sense?
Building: Normal hobo sized building.
Bathroom: the bathrooms were not clean, but better than most bar bathrooms.
Parking: Parking is shared with other businesses.
Notes: none.
Star rating: 2 total stars because value vs mixed portion sizes and less than satisfactory service. I gave service a 3 because the lady making the sandwiches addressed me. Had she not done that, a 1 star would have been given.

I was absolutely shocked how the employees were cussing right in front of older customers during the evening shift. I understand it’s probably some kids first jobs but that was very unprofessional. Your food is too good to have this language there.

What a refreshing restaurant compared to the tired Subways. Nice and clean, very well staffed, and the bread and ingredients were super fresh. The service was so good I got my food and ate it during my 15 break. They offer waffle fries or cookies or chips as part of the sandwich meal. I tried the fries—awesome. Note from the menu board they offer other foods including fresh soups of the day. I’ll be back. No Wifi.
Update: I’ve been eating here three times weekly for weeks now. Some comments: they seem to have an ever-changing rotation of trainees at the ordering position. Slows things down and is highly annoying when there is a lunch line.
Didn’t realize when I gave it five stars that your order taker will upsell you cheese on your sandwich or fries but neglect to tell you cheese costs extra! Minus one star for that trick.
Note that there is no useable cell reception(Sprint) in the store and no Wifi!

I paid for 2 potatoes to have cauliflower and spent $4 to do so. I however did not get ANY cauliflower. Very much not happy to spend $4 for no reason. Plus that also bumped up my cost so it bumped up my tip. I cannot order from here if yall gonna waste my $.

Thought I would give them a try again. I visited this location on 2/22/23 and got good food, and great service. BUT, came back on 2/23/23, and was the opposite. Service was bad, four people, and no one could smile at a customer. My sandwich was made wrong. The bread that was nice and fresh yesterday was dry and tasted like sawdust. The lettuce was wilted on my sandwich. Granted, they told me I could take home the first sandwich, but that was beyond the point. Consistency goes a long way to keeping business successful Hungry Hobo!
