Tried this place for lunch since we are from out of town and had never heard of one. The food was excellent and the service was phenomenal! I unfortunately didn’t get here name, but the woman who was working the counter had great customer service. She was working 9/12/25 around 1pm. She took the time to talk to us and see where we are from. The view of the river was also a really incredible backdrop as we ate.

The service at Hungry Hobo was great and the staff were friendly, which I appreciated. However, the fries had no seasoning and overall the food wasn’t the best. The restaurant also wasn’t the cleanest. While the service stood out in a positive way, the overall experience could definitely be improved.

Count your sandwiches before you leave! This is our family’s 3rd order in two months that we have driven 20 min to and from to get meals and have made it back with food missing. We are from Chicago and Hungry Hobo is usually our favorite must visit- but service and lack of attention to detail may change that. After my husband driving 40 minutes additional and losing time with family- they didn’t even comp the sandwich they forgot to give us. Disappointed. Customer service goes a long way.

A must-stop if you’re traveling from Chicago to Iowa!
This place offers not only delicious food but also a stunning view of the majestic Mississippi River . The service is wonderful friendly, attentive, and full of warmth. It’s the perfect spot to take a break, recharge, and enjoy a memorable experience that blends great taste with breathtaking scenery.
Highly recommended! ️

Best thing on their menu: Chili in a bread bowl. It’s literally perfect!

Got charged $1 for cheese. Really! I mean it’s just cheese it’s not like it’s a add-on topping. Other than that this place is fine. Great cake!

I needed a place close to my hotel and The Hungry Hobo happened to be right next door. I was happy with the service, the food, and the friendly atmosphere. Great place to grab a bite. Loved the food.

Stopped here on a recommendation from a friend. I had the #11 hobo combination. Sandwich had a lot of meat. My wife had a grilled chicken sandwich with peppers mushrooms and onions. Really enjoyed it and again lots of chicken on the sandwich. Had sides of waffle fries and cheese curds. Both weee good but nothing outstanding.

The last several times we’ve gone to Le Claire it’s been disappointing. Spent $45 for crap. Potatoes are hard, under cooked veggies, fries are soggy, cheese curds tasted like straight grease. We got everything but the subs hoping for a better experience but we were wrong. This will be our last time going to the Hobo.
