Absolutely delicious seafood. Raw oysters, fried shrimp and oysters, and beautiful scallops. Everything was fresh and perfectly cooked and drinks were fun we could barely decide which ones to get the options were so enticing! We will 100% be returning and bringing friends and family along.

Very humble yet elegant place. It’s a perfect place for a quaint unfussy meal— to catch up with an old friend or host an intimate celebration. I went on a lunch date with my husband. I got the hanger steak and eggs; he got the flounder. I have no complaints, the service was great and the food was delicious.
The hanger steak was perfectly medium rare and the flounder was also cooked well. I liked the blue cheese butter with the steak, but I think a peppercorn sauce or some light gravy would have tied it all together. I also thought the flounder dish was clever, it was cooked southern style with a twist: fried with a light cornmeal crust, swimming in a sweet savory Thai curry sauce.
For me, the highlight of my meal was actually the oyster bisque. It was very delicate and savory. The morels gave it a very earthy taste paired with the gulf oysters the flavors was reminiscent of a surf and turf dish.
Our server was very friendly and attentive. They were also very accommodating; my husband asked if they could do mocktails. The server asked what he was feeling and he asked for something savory and fruity. They took the time to craft a unique and refreshing drink for him. I thought that was awesome!

Cozy, but very elegant spot! Extremely surprised by the variety of flavors on the menu. Easily the best spot I’ve been to in Mobile so far!

I will preface by saying I have a bit of experience in this industry, and what Jim Smith does here is magic. We booked a rental at the beautiful Washington Square and did some looking around for a good place to have dinner. We found that Hummingbird Way was nearby, received good reviews, and nice press. We certainly never expected the meal to be an experience. Every single thing we ordered was delicious—and perplexing. I spent too much time analyzing which ingredients were put together to create the final dish. Some flavors I had never tasted in such harmony. I’m happy Mobile has an innovative talent delivering this beautiful experience, and I would drive a long way to specifically enjoy Chef Smith’s talents again. A big thank you to everyone working together to bring such a gift to our evening.

We had the most amazing brunch today! I can’t believe we hadn’t found this place yet but we will definitely be back! That salmon was chefs kiss!!! If I had to critique anything I would say the crème brûlée was slightly over torched but it was still amazing!

We finally visited The Hummingbird Way last night. We ordered the tasting menu, and the flavors were exceptional! I was particularly impressed with the wine pairings. I don’t usually enjoy white, but all of the selections complimented the food so well. We also had the BEST server! She was attentive, professional, and polite. (We had the Wagyu as our main. I forgot to take a pic of the pork course, which was my favorite.)

This is a somewhat hidden gem in the city of mobile. I decided to try this place for dinner and I must say it did not disappoint at all! The atmosphere of the restaurant is fun, energetic and overall family & friends oriented. The staff are professional, knowledgeable and make honest suggestions which is always a plus. I am a fan of oysters and these did not miss the mark! They were not chewy and they were filled with flavor. The cocktails are something you can’t miss out on; they do not water them down and they get the job done. The steak was cooked to perfection! When the chef came around to the table I gave him praises for having one of the top steaks in the city hands down. The potato’s that were paired with it honestly left me speechless; just delicious! The wedge salad was simple, fresh and packed with flavor. The soft shell crab on the bed of greens paired so well together and the way the flavors meshed together is just wonderful! Up to this point everything was beyond great so it was only right to try the desserts! The crème brûlée was good however the pineapple upside down cake stole the show!! The waiter explained that this wasn’t a “pop in the microwave” type of dessert so it would take a little extra time but would be worth it. He did not lie!! You could taste the quality and difference from that of other restaurants. If you have not tried this place yet you are missing out on a great experience. After trying the food I understand why they have so many awards and have been featured on food network.

A lovely location in residential neighborhood. we sat in front room where the bar is located. The back rooms were very noisy and folks were enjoying themselves. My friend because it was her birthday had the tasting menu. She enjoyed it very much. The first course was 1 oyster and she wished it was more. Each dish was excellent. I had the hanger steak a little tough, but that was expected. Cooked medium rare with red wine reduction. Potatoe hash with bacon was good. Oyster bisque was enjoyed by the others, but there was not much in the bowl. My other friends had the salads, fried chicken livers, and wontons- from starter section.
The waitress did not have much to say, no recommendations, and no description of the food. She did not even tell us the cost of the tasting menu until we asked ($100) if you got the red snapper dish and $165 if you chose the ribeye. Extra cost for wine paired with each course. She barely spoke and smiled once when my friend said she was pretty. Another waitress came over and chatted with us when she learned we were from New Orleans.

Wonderful experience from walking in to leaving.
Our server was on top of it.
Raw oysters were amazing – MUST get the champagne sauce.
The Bacon oysters were my favorite!
We shared the jambalaya and pheasant… amazing!
The jambalaya had tons of seafood in it with depth of flavor. Pheasant was so juicy with crispy skin.
Must get biscuits too – honey butter was so perfect for them. Highly recommend if you’re in town.
