The remodel and atmosphere and location are top notch. Love the look and feel of the building and the indoor outdoor building with all the wall of windows. It’s come a long way from what it was when I first started coming here over 30 years ago. The food and menu has come a long way too! Food was pretty good and price was very good. This is an excellent stop-in place in the excellent family mountain town of Montreat. Also a nice spot to come in and read or talk with friends and they provide games to play right by the waterfall of Lake Susan. I’ll be back!

The Huck is back and better than ever! The ice cream and coffee is excellent. My greatest joy is that they now have a plethora of gluten free snack and meal options! The grilled chicken (covered in cheese) with seasoned waffle fries is my new favorite Montreat meal.

Cute cafe. It had a great view and the recently completed renovation provided open spaces and good seating. The views from the windows are nice even in winter. The food is just okay. My coffee was cold too but don’t expect too much, and you won’t be disappointed.

Like many others, I’ve seen many iterations of the Huckleberry over the last 40 or so years, from short order place to ice cream only to coffee shop. I like. This one has a cozy but unpretentious vibe. Friendly staff, efficient, pretty good drinks.

Stop at the Huckleberry for a quick lunch in beautiful Montreat! It’s a casual, order-at-the-counter kind of place with inside and outside seating. There’s also a gift shop and Ten Thousand Villages on Lake Susan.

My family and I have been coming to Montreat for the past 20+ years so have seen many versions of “The Huck” over the years. Because it was the ONLY think, I think there was not much motivation to upgrade the food and vibe of the place.

Well, fast-forward to November 2022 and the most recent upgrade is the best yet. When I was there, I noticed people meeting from the college and the conference center so it def feels like a third-space gathering space.

The staff was really helpful, the breakfast sandwich I has was legit, and my almond latte was delish.

Well done Montreat!

Stopped here after a hike with the family. I got a latte that was surprisingly delicious! Huckleberry was very clean, had a welcoming environment and staff was friendly. Close to the playground and other activities, so it was a great stop for us! Can’t wait to go back.

Great new look and wonderful service and food, too! The Tennessee Twister is a long-time favorite and the soups and specialty drinks are great too.
What other coffee shop do you know that has a waterfall AND a lake view?!!!

Service and building are really nice. Lemonade and fries are fantastic. Burger and chicken tenders are the lowest quality money can buy. I sure hope they buy better food soon it was terrible.

We only come here about once a year when we’re attending a conference. Service is consistently slow and food orders are often incorrect. On our most recent visit, it took over half an hour to get our food — and even then some was missing and two of the sandwiches were wrong. Ten more minutes passed and they gave our replacement order to another family (who were about to return it again when I said wait, let me check because maybe it’s our food after all). The manager made no attempt to compensate for the nearly 45 minute wait. I think we’ll look for another place to eat. There are plenty of choices in Black Mountain (not as convenient, but honestly probably faster to drive into town and back).
