Picked this establishment on a whim and from first taste, it was evident that FLAVOR comes first here! We were shocked. Family run and owned, the careful control of flavor is no more evident than in their house sauce of garlic and cilantro. It is perfect and I would put it on everything but sweet pastries! I have never had a Cuban sandwich like theirs. The chicken empanadas were breathtaking. The stuffed potato balls are delicious. The sweet empanadas are almost as good as the savories. Perfect French fries. The daughter mans the counter and her dad is in the kitchen. A perfect meal! Cuban sodas are on offer. DO NOT MISS THIS EXPERIENCE!!!

Stopped by here looking for a Portos replacement came out very disappointed, tried the cheese rolls, guave and cheese roll and the mango and cheese roll.
The rolls did not have enough filling, mostly all bread, definitely not a porto replacement.
Great and friendly service but the food was disappointing.

My daughter and I went to try today and absolutely loved everything we ordered (empanadas, cheese pastry & potato balls) they were delicious. The service also was very great the girl in the front was so sweet , helpful and respectful which is so hard to find nowadays! We really appreciated our experience and definitely will be back and recommend to others. Also not sure if it was the owner but someone else from the back came up to say thank you and to enjoy our day which was also sweet. I pray god blesses this business with many more years of business. They’ve been around for as long as I can remember when I grew up in the area!

I’ve never been one to go out my way to leave reviews but the food here truly excels in delivering authentic cuban cuisine which is absolutely phenomenal in taste; (especially for me since I grew up eating authentic Cuban food from my mom and family). The owner has passion and delivers consistent quality in food, service, and hospitality. Every single-owner restaurant should aspire to be like this. Truly a hidden gem in this community! I recommend the “ropa vieja” with a side of tostones. ☺️

This is truly a hidden gem. The service is exceptional-warm, friendly, and genuinely welcoming. The food is unforgettable and keeps me coming back; my favorites so far are the Cubano sandwich, the empanada de carne, stuffed potato balls, and all of the sweet pastries, which are an absolute must. They offer catering as well! Next time I’ll post pictures.

I lived in Florida for years before moving to SD, and had a cuban sandwich spot that I ate at all the time. Since moving to SD, finding a real Cuban sandwich was a lot harder than expected. And when some places offer a cuban sandwich, it’s almost always something that isn’t really a cuban sandwich (like making it on ciabatta bread). The House of Cuban Flavor is the real deal though. I can get great food (obviously cuban sandwiches too) and the staff/ owners are awesome (I would give an extra star if I could). The menu is simple but there are soo many good options for meals, drinks!, snacks and pastries

As a vegetarian, there are a few options. I recommend the potato balls stuffed with jalapeño & cheese and the spinach & cheese empanadas. They are so delicious! For dessert, we have tried the guava & cheese pastry which is so good. This is hard to find anywhere else so I’m happy I found a place in SD! I always make it a point to stop whenever I’m in the neighborhood.

Alright, so I’m Cuban, from Miami. I moved to San Diego nearly 3 years ago and have not been able to find any good Cuban spots here aside from in LA. We came across this amazing spot on a Reddit. Decided to try out, went in with an open mind and not expecting much. I was blown away! I didn’t have much since it was my first time there but I will definitely try more things next time. I had some croquetas de jamón, and some pasteles de guayaba y pasteles de queso. Man! It took me back home! I have finally found my Cuban spot! Ontop of the amazing food, the service and atmosphere is top notch! I would highly recommend this place to any and everyone. I would post a picture of the food I got but I ate it all, I didn’t even stop to think to take a pic since it was so good!

I missed Cuban potato balls..especially from Portos, so I decided to research where I could find something similar without having to drive to Buena Park or Glendale! Wow I’m so glad I found this spot…. their potato balls were delicious! Bought a dozen beef potato balls for a birthday potluck party and also brought guava cheese and manago cheese strudel – so crispy and flaky! The owner person upfront took our order, very polite and in a happy mood! The restaurant is small inside with 2 small tables, there is option for sitting outside with more tables. When my large order was ready he step out to bring me my food! Nice guy, great service….delicious food!

Felt an urge for a cubano after watching Chef so I came across this place. Some cuban places in SD have been mediocore so far but after eating here I was reminded of the Miami cubans I came to love. Will be back again and again. Also dont sleep on the potato balls.
