Great place! Atmosphere was lacking BUT what it lacks it makes up for in hospitality and flavor! We stopped here on our way through town and we really enjoyed our bahn mi. It was fresh and flavorful! We’d definitely eat here again if we lived nearby.

Was super hesitant at first because I’ve never had Vietnamese food but it was so amazing! I got the #5 and my boyfriend got the #13 and they were both super good. The milk tea is bomb too.

I’m so glad we found out about this place! We were driving around craving Bánh Mì and this happened to be the only spot still open. It was a trip for us but absolutely worth the drive. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, and the sandwiches were to die for. I only wish we had discovered this spot sooner because it is so so good. We will definitely be back. We both got the spicy pork, but there’s a lot more I want to try.

The HOB is one of our absolute favorite places to get a banh mi!! My husband and I are in often enough that they know us by name, and we always feel welcome! Highly recommend the pork belly banh mi and the tofu salad rolls! Great service, great food, great prices!

Banh mis are hands down the best sandwiches. Fresh-baked crusty yet pillowy bread, crunchy pickled veggies, savory meats. You literally cannot construct a more perfect sandwich. And HOB makes among the best in Portland. They bake their own bread fresh daily. Their selection of meats are delectable. And they’re always so polite.

Excellent banh mi Dac Biet. Loaded with all of the good stuff a special banh mi should have tucked in the middle of a fresh warm French bread roll.

Very delicious banh mi!! They are very affordable too at only $6 a piece! I have had the house special and the onion tofu and both were great. The owners are super friendly as well!

My husband and I were visiting Portland for the weekend and stopped by to pick up a couple sandwiches – grilled chicken & pork. The staff was super friendly, sandwiches were made promptly and were delicious. They had great social distancing in place, even asking us to wait outside until our order was ready. The sandwiches were so good we’ll be happy to stop here again next time we’re in Portland.

The banh mi sandwiches here at “hob” are pretty mediocre. The bread seemed to be old and had no crunch on the outside nor was it soft on the inside. The meat & veggies didn’t taste very fresh. The worst part was the coffee they serve. It is one of the worst Vietnamese iced coffees I’ve had in Portland. The flavor of the coffee was very off putting and had no flavor. I’d recommend you go to to Binh Minh, Best Baguette, An Xuyen, Bánh Mì Nam Lộc for better tasting and cheaper banh mi options. I also noticed the place was pretty dirty inside and the service from the staff was slow and rude.

I feel a little nervous writing a review because I don’t want them to get TOO busy, as it could extend the line, which has consistently been short or nonexistent. The wait from ordering to food is about 5-10 minutes. Great variety of sandwiches (banh mi) at very low prices. They also have pre-made spring rolls and some desserts. Great Banh Mi at a great price!
