The Houndstooth is a staple sports-bar in Tuscaloosa, anchored on University Blvd and well known among locals and fans alike. With a strong reputation for its lively game-day energy, it pulls in crowds especially when the Tide plays.
One of its biggest strengths is the number of TV screens — you’re unlikely to miss a play wherever you sit. The staff tend to get praise for friendliness and helpfulness, and many patrons treat it like a “go-to” for watching big games. The patio space offers some relief, especially when the indoor area is packed.

My husband (an Alabama alum) and I have been coming here for YEARS when we’re in town for games; it used to be one of our go-to spots. Last night was, without question, the worst experience we’ve ever had.
We sat at the bar for over 10 minutes around 7:00 PM – it wasn’t even busy – and the bartender (short, petite, long dark hair) walked past us multiple times without so much as a hello. When she finally decided to acknowledge us, all we got was, “Y’all doing good?” No, actually, we’re not doing good, we’ve been waiting to be served while you’re too busy chatting with your friend on one end and flirting with the guys on the other.
The service was beyond unprofessional and downright disrespectful. After years of being loyal customers, we left completely disappointed. It’s sad how far this place has fallen.
– A longtime customer who won’t be back.✌

Came here to pregame before the Iron Bowl. My buddy and I liked the outdoor area and all the other bars were just as crowded but less space. It was super busy, took a bit to get drinks but that was expected for how busy it was going to be. Overall chill atmosphere and great place to pregame the Iron Bowl

The atmosphere is always fun and welcoming, whether it’s game day or just a regular night out. The service is top-notch, and Olivia, the manager, does an amazing job making sure everything runs smoothly. She’s friendly, professional, and truly cares about the customers. The staff is great, the drinks are reasonably priced, and the pool tables and outdoor seating make it a perfect spot to hang out. Highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great time!

Game day tradition # 2 – spend some time at The Houndstooth before, during, or after the game! Their Thursday night Bingo is also a lot of fun!

Came here and had a great time until we realized one of the bartenders had been double charging my wife for her single mixed drinks, and when we asked why, she said “people usually want doubles.” She agreed we’d never asked for doubles but said she did it bc most people want it. My wife even commented “they mix weak here” after her first drink, I tasted and it was a fine single… but def not a double. Be careful here y’all.

Ridiculous place. I went to this bar with my son. I spent over $100 at 9pm and then went to another bar and came back at 10:30 they then wanted to charge me $40 cash for the two of us. Definitely a bar in Alabama I would NOT go to as they do not care about customers

Nice place, beer is awesome. The only problem is that the music is very loud inside the bar, that sometimes is difficult to talk with your friends

What happened to the old bingo guy? He was so much fun and got the crowd involved. The new guy is so bland and boring. Has zero personality when he is calling numbers. I come for Thursday night football and stay for a few rounds of bingo but this guys just sucks the fun out of everything.
