The best word that comes to mind is unmemorable.
The atmosphere is genuinely nice for a bar: industrial with exposed brick and those garage doors that give it a cool, open vibe. It reminded me a lot of Gasoline Street Coffee Company in Pittsburgh.

Service was good despite the light staffing. On our Friday evening visit, as far as I could see there was only one person handling the bar and tables, but she was friendly, attentive, and handled everything with a smile.

Unfortunately, the two biggest reasons most people head to a bar/restaurant—food and drinks—fell a bit flat. The food was fine, but nothing stood out, and portions/prices felt a little high for the quality.

The biggest downside was how quiet it was. A Friday night with only 2–3 other patrons made the place feel empty and a bit discouraging. No one wants slammed service from overworked staff, but the opposite isn’t ideal either.

If you’re in the area and want a low-key spot with good vibes and don’t mind basic food, it’s worth a try. But if you’re looking for a lively scene or standout eats, you might want to keep driving.

Great pretzel but the beer cheese was actually gross . The bbq pizza pita was ok. It wasn’t bad but was not something I would come back and order. My husband and father got the fish and chips and loved it. They were out of the potato bacon soup which I really wanted but maybe next time. My mom didn’t care for the bacon chicken ranch wrap but she also has kind of bland taste so who knows. The bar is really cute and decorated nicely and has a nice vibe. Staff is friendly and they keep up with everyone.

Way overpriced and under flavoured. First, ten wings for $17.99. Second, no mixing of flavours allowed. Third, Alabama white sauce had zero flavour. If it would not have been for it being a tour stop, I would have left as soon as I saw the prices. With tip I had a horrible $40 lunch.

Sadly this beautiful place was a big disappointment for me and my friends. The bartender was alone (assuming he had a cook, at least) and there were only about 15 people in the whole place but he was expecting a birthday party to arrive in an hour and he was already frazzled. Our hotdogs were the skinniest dogs I’ve ever seen. Couldn’t even taste them. Only the chili and roll were noticed. And our glasses were disgusting. See pic! Couldn’t do any tastings. None of us plan to go back.

If the food was a good as the atmosphere the place would be a straight 5 stars. Sadly the fries we had were not great. They tasted like they had been reheated. The flatbread was great and our server did a great job. Beer selection was great

Amazing bartender, cheap drinks, and the place itself is great w huge TVs.

But the portion sizes compared to their price is insane. Spent 15 dollars on a cheesesteak w NO sides and it was the smallest I’ve ever gotten. Same w the nachos — 11 dollars and abt the size you’d get at a concession stand. Their smallest automatic tip is 20% and I left hungry.

I appreciate it’s local and organic but I’m not at bar bc I care about my health

My brisket tacos had a lot onions and tomatoes but barely any meat. The meat was bland and dry too. Charging $16.99 for this is foul.

If you’re anywhere near Middletown, you have to stop at The Hop Yard. The brisket and burnt ends are on a whole different level. The brisket is perfectly smoked, tender, and packed with flavor, and the burnt ends are the kind you dream about — crispy on the outside, melt-in-your-mouth on the inside, and absolutely loaded with smoky goodness.

The portions are generous, the service is friendly, and the whole place just has that welcoming, local vibe that makes you want to come back. I’ve had barbecue all over, and The Hop Yard easily ranks at the top. If you love real BBQ, this is your spot. Highly recommend!

We decided to try the Hop Yard for a family gathering because the online menu had a nice selection. When we arrived it was so empty which should have been a clue. The waitress indicated they were unable to provide fish and chips or brisket. These were 2 items we were hoping for. She claimed there was a supply/order problem. One in our group ordered pulled chicken platter which looked like someone shredded a boiled chicken breast and dumped into a cardboard serving container. The smoked side was macaroni and cheese which was served in a small souffle cup. We were hoping the chicken would have been actually pulled or maybe smoked like the Mac n cheese. The burgers were pretty good, but the fries were lackluster.
