Love this place, but after closing for a few of the school holidays they’ve returned with a few problems.
The fish is still amazing, but everything with batter is literally awash with the stuff and the quality of chips have taken a dip…
…and to top it all off, their website’s busted and they now only take cash in store. They said it was a temporary measure, and they made it so I could pay digitally, but it’s so sad to see such a drastic fall from grace.

Had a takeaway from here a few nights ago, staff were very friendly and answered all questions with a smile. I had a large cod and chips and the fish was well cooked and the batter was crispy and not at all soggy or greasy, my wife had the cod nuggets, which were large chunks of fresh fish in the same crispy batter. Great fish and chips, I would highly recommend!

I don’t usually leave reviews but the fish and chips I had here were delicious, beautifully cooked and cheaper than my normal chippy in Rochester. I am a bit picky about batter but this was light, crispy and perfectly seasoned. The chips were crispy too plus the staff were welcoming, efficient and helpful. Well done to them and I thoroughly recommend.

Been to many many chip shops, up North, down South and in-between London…the Hook has the best chicken burgers EVER!! My mouth waters whenever I place my order, can’t wait to wolf those bad boys down!! Sometimes I buy a couple of those burgers, can’t fault this place at all. Chips are amazing too, staff are pleasant and friendly, always feel welcomed like a VIP…Best in the country!

Have ordered through both Deliveroo and Uber Eats and this is definitely the best of the three in the area. Hence the four stars.
Please add bread rolls and burger sauce to the menu!
Fish cakes need a bread roll and chips need burger sauce.
Never not had either of them in a fish and chip shop until I moved here they are important additions! I don’t order if we don’t already have rolls in the house and shop-bought burger sauce just isn’t the same.

This has to be the best fish & chips and battered sausage I have ever eaten! And I am in my 70’s! The batter is amazing. Ate every crumb.
