Yet another example of the hidden gems you can find in small towns. The food was absolutely amazing, and the staff were very kind. The blooming onion actually had a lot of onion in each piece- unlike most restaurants, which have more breading than onion! My club sandwich was worth the price, and was filled with meat and cheese. The building had a nice interior and a very friendly atmosphere. Easily one of my top five restaurants- would go again!

Interesting set-up but the food was worth it. Drinks are your traditional bar basics-more of a tavern for locals. The apple butter burger was AMAZING and the options were affordable. Didn’t try the BBQ, but I heard it’s a hit. Great service I’m a small town setting. I’ll definitely be back the next time I’m in the area.

AWFUL food, worse customer service, and MOST DEFINITELY NOT worth the price. Loaded baked potatoes sent with no sour cream and on the verge of being burnt. Onion petals that were still gooey inside. Asked for a specific kind of fries, and got regular fries, then the owner, Jessica, says to the waitress “Did she ask for home fries?” I guess her customers frequently lie to her or something? And all of our food was mixed in the same containers (mushrooms and potato in this pic were for different people) so we were sitting in the car sharing containers. I will NEVER go there again and I will never recommend it, in fact, I HIGHLY recommend you save your money. ZERO stars!

We had not been to the Hollow for awhile and ended up there for a dinner meeting on Friday. The food was good so we decided to bring the family back for lunch on Sunday. When we walked in Sunday we ended up waiting around 10 minutes to even be seated. After being seated we ordered our drinks and food. The drinks came in 5 minutes. After that we did not see the waitress again for the next hour and fifteen minutes. By the time we finally got our food two of us had to ask for it to go because we no longer had time to eat. The worse part was the restaurant was not overly crowded and everyone in our party ordered hamburgers and fries.
I may be back again for takeout but I will never be back to dine in.

If you are looking for a restaurant near Franklin VW, there aren’t a lot of choices but I do recommend The Hollow. It was tasty, clean, and efficient.

Nice restaurant, but the wait staff was definitely not worried about the simple task of waiting on tables.
Took 15 minutes just to have the drink order taken.
Placed order at the same time. When the food arrived, the appetizer was 1/2 the order, I ordered a full order of wings and only received 6. I pointed that out and was told the kitchen messed up the order.
My meal was wrong as well. Ordered no ketchup, add cheese on cheeseburger. Waitress couldn’t have checked any order for the table as they were all wrong.
Check was never brought to the table, and when I went searching for my waitress, she was nowhere to be found and never adjusted the bill to reflect the difference. The cashier didn’t adjust the bill either.
If you’re starving and haven’t eaten for days, I’d still pass The Hollow Restaurant… pathetic service…
Do yourself a favor and visit subway.

The menu has 2 chili cheese hot dogs with fries. My husband got one and got a look like you really want 2? Um, yes please. Another table, same exact issue. I had a crock of French onion soup. It was just a slice of cheese on top of bread. Soup had pretty good flavor and lots of onions. Back to the hot dogs, the buns were cold, the hot dogs themselves weren’t very hot. The French fries, fresh cut and homemade, but those too were cold. We had no silverware. No ketchup. I think this is new ownership and they just need to get firing on all cylinders. Looks like it can be a really good place!

Waited over an hour for our food to arrive before leaving to eat somewhere else. They said it would take an additional 30 minutes before we would get our food. It wasn’t even busy and it is pretty sad that they can’t get a hamburger and a chicken steak out in less than an hour and a half. Never going back and either should you unless you like waiting an incredible amount of time for your food. VERY SLOW kitchen staff…

Nice selection and good value. Drove from Staunton to Franklin for a Sunday drive. Thought I would try this local restaurant. The staff was friendly and food plentiful. I ordered 2 chili hotdogs with fries and it was more than I could eat. My fiancee ordered Salisbury steak, which they made on premise, and it was delicious (she let me have a bite). They also make homemade pies.
