My husband and I stopped at The Hive for brunch during our anniversary trip, and let me just say… everything was AMAZING. The food was hot, seasoned perfectly, and tasted like pure comfort. Those fried chicken wings? Crispy and flavorful. The French toast? Soft with just the right amount of sweetness. And the crab salmon cakes? Chef’s kiss.
The atmosphere was cozy and welcoming — it honestly felt like home. Our waitress was the sweetest, super helpful, and even gave us recommendations for things to do around the area. You can tell they pour love into both the food and the service.
We will absolutely be back. If you’re anywhere near Richmond, do yourself a favor and stop by The Hive!

We had brunch at The Hive Restaurant and it was absolutely fantastic! Everything we ordered tasted amazing; fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The service was great and the atmosphere made it a really enjoyable experience. The biggest win of all? Our kid cleaned their plate, which says everything! We’ll definitely be back for brunch again.

Wednesday friend’s day (evening) @thehivebarandgrill was a good time! Extended HH and fun drinks and food! Excellent customer service and a nice vibe! I had the liquid marijuana (4.2/5, nice little kick) and the HH wings (honey bourbon fried hard 4.7/5 and served with fries 3.1/5). I definitely want to head back soon!

The place is a nice spot. I think I had this experience because one of the bartenders was new. I came in for happy hour. I had to request the menu instead of just being given one. I was told the happy hour price for shots/wells and the cocktails on the happy hour menu were the same price. I ordered the Red, wine and blue, which was disgusting. Idk if it was because it had Tito’s in it instead or whatever it normally has.
Anyways, I ordered my wing basket and waited about 30 minutes for it because the new bartender didn’t push the order through. The wings were decent tho. The fries were really good.
Also when I got my check the cocktail was regular price, and not the same price as the wells as I was told.
The other bartender was doing her thing tho.

I was very excited to try this restaurant based on the reviews. I understand everyone, every business may have an off day so with that said; There was only one server/bartender. It was a slow evening so that worked. The hostess/server/bartender was on the phone the entire time we were in the restaurant. THE ENTIRE TIME! The chef was chilling and hanging at a table close by. The entire vibe was unprofessional and a turn off but I decided to keep an open mind. I ordered fried whiting, it was thick, gamey and covered in too salty something. The Mac and cheese looked and tasted old. The yams were soupy. The sliders looked and tasted like dried up hockey pucks, and the cheese was non existent. They were out of pineapple juice, the beer had to be chilled while we were there. Someone walked in with supplies from a local grocery store. The owner needs to work on leveling up. I wont even talk about the little outside seating. The experience was just disappointing, embarrassing and mortifying.

Foood is really good and if you are like me and love a good Mimosa this is the place to come, very welcoming atmosphere and the Owner is a sweetheart. Very nice and passionate about what she does ! 10/10 recommend you will not be disappointed.

Listen…this place is a WHOLE vibe!!! Small spot, BIG energy!! The service? 10/10. The staff? AMAZING!! Our server had us so comfortable we were calling her “auntie” by the end of the night!
The owner was outside, inside, everywhere making sure guests were good, introducing herself and working with her team!! You don’t see that everywhere and I LOVED it!❤️
Food and drinks were hitting (and baby the drinks were NOT watered down ). The Happy Hour meals and drinks were amazing and affordable !! The only reason it’s not 5 stars is because I ordered jackfruit sliders and found out they weren’t available after my food started coming out.
The food was so good we still ordered plates to go for our mom, so that tells you everything!!
Perfect for date night or girls’ night. Not for big crowds and parking is tight, but trust me, it’s worth it! We WILL be back and I’m telling everybody I know!!

The Hive Bar & Grill is hands down one of my favorite spots to kick back and relax. The atmosphere is perfect — whether you’re stopping in for a drink or sitting down for a full meal, it’s just a great vibe all around. Comfortable, welcoming, and the kind of place you can actually enjoy your time.

The service was awful!the hostess.bartender,waitress was NOT attentive in any of those rolls. She was not friendly did not offer any suggestions on food or drinks she suck! We never received our water one of the cocktails had to be sent back because it was so awful! The food was lack luster the fries were really good but other than that nothing else taste good the burger was severely overcooked and flavorless as were the Brussels never got silverware had to get up and find some. It really was awful all across the board!!!

I was so excited to try this place. A friend of mine had her cousin visiting from out of town, and we wanted somewhere with a chill vibe. I suggested this spot. I had seen mixed reviews — some good, some not so much — but I wanted to experience it for myself. Honestly, I should’ve listened.
My friend and her cousin got there before me and ordered appetizers since it was already after 10. When I arrived, the DJ was playing and the vibe could’ve been nice… mainly because there were no more than 10 people in the whole place.
I sat down and waited. And waited. Thirty minutes went by — no water, no greeting, nothing. There were two bartenders behind the bar and a guy who worked there but seemed more focused on dancing than working.
Once I realized no one was coming to the table, I went to the bar. You would’ve thought I was invisible. The bartender kept walking right past me without saying a word. She left from behind the bar, went to another table, then even came to the table I was sitting at and asked my friends if they needed anything — while I had been standing there trying to order.
My friend had to tell her I’d been trying to get drinks. So I went back to the table and gave her my order. The drinks took another 25 minutes. Meanwhile, a couple came in, sat right next to us, and got drinks and food within 20 minutes.
By now it’s almost 11 — still no food. I asked the other bartender about it and she said, “I don’t know, he’s so—” and then stopped herself mid-sentence. Meanwhile, dancing dude is now cleaning chairs, and the other bartender is wiping down tables. Still no food.
At that point, I said forget it — I’m done.
I went to get my check. $77 for three drinks and two shots. And of course, tip already added. I really hate that RVA automatically adds gratuity because service like that absolutely did not deserve it.
While I’m waiting for the check, one of the bartenders — the older lady — is taking shots behind the bar. And listen, I’ve bartended for years, so I’m not judging having a little fun… but read the room.
Needless to say, I really wanted to support a Black-owned business on the last day of Black History Month. That was important to me. But I won’t be going back.
It’s disappointing. I hate that sometimes we don’t treat each other with the care and respect we deserve.
