My wife and I visited The Hill Cafe for a date night and had a fantastic experience. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a perfect setting for a relaxed evening out. The service was attentive and friendly without being overbearing, and the food truly stood out.
The crispy Thai shrimp appetizer was phenomenal—perfectly cooked and packed with flavor—and the fried chicken was easily some of the best we’ve ever had. Everything we ordered was fresh and expertly prepared.
Highly recommend this location for anyone looking for excellent food, great service, and an ideal spot for a date night.

Out of a 3 day trip, we ate here twice. The food was so delicious and don’t forget to get dessert- one chocolate cake slice was enough for two! Other dinner items we enjoyed: the salmon, clam chowder, spaghetti and meatballs, burger, and the eggplant pasta dish.

This is probably my favorite restaurant in Richmond. A few years ago I lived in the area and frequented this establishment 2-3 times a week. This was a go to spot when my family came into town for business or just to visit.
I’ve never had anything that wasn’t good here. Last night I got the blackened Cajun wrap and the gf got a steak burrito bowl. When I frequented a few years back I would always get the navy storm to drink. It was just as good then as it was last night. The only thing I missed on the menu was the crab pasta, but for some reason I feel like that was seasonal. They do a really good job of having fresh and flavorful menu items. If you in the area I would highly recommend stopping in.

Not sure where to begin — in a time when an average meal costs $12–$16 and most chain restaurants serve the same frozen, prefab burgers, Hill Café is a refreshing reminder of what real food tastes like.
The burger I had was cooked to absolute perfection — juicy, flavorful, and clearly made fresh, not pulled from a freezer. Every bite was mouthwatering. The toppings were just as impressive — crisp lettuce, fresh onion, and a tomato so good I’d swear it came straight from the farm in Hanover, Va
The entire experience was excellent from start to finish. The staff was polite, friendly, and attentive. I can see why all the locals keep coming for more. The overall experience was something you just don’t get at chain spots anymore.
If I find myself working in Richmond again, I’ll definitely be returning. Not to mention I will also be bringing my wife on an over due date night sooner than later. Hill Café has earned a solid spot on my list of favorite local gems.

The mashed sweet potatoes are heavenly ☁️ with that crispy crunchy fried chicken made a / meal!

Great experience tonight! The fried chicken with mac and cheese and mashed potatoes absolutely did not disappoint. As a mezcal fan, I was excited to see a mezcal Negroni listed as a house cocktail — and it was perfect.
The service really stood out. Our server was personable and attentive, and the bartender had a great read on the overall flow of the restaurant, taking time to make sure every guest was having an ideal experience.

Living in Chimborazo is different from every other diverse city . I am very cautious of where I given the climate in 2026. On my way home from work, I decided to go to the Hill cafe for a drink. When I entered, MORGAN was my bartender. I know where I was walking into because of the customers . Long story short I ended up staying. Not because of the customers ( im brown. Lol) but because of the service I received from the bar staff. Never judge a book by his cover. The a staff is awesome. The beers are cold and have a wide selection on tap . The pork belly is a must try.!!!!!

In from out of town and looking for a quiet place to go when we came across this female-owned, corner restaurant in a quaint little neighborhood. The service, food and atmosphere were spot on. Is perfect for a quiet morning when traveling and definitely a go to for locals. When able to support one’s vegan lifestyle, you tend to revisit! Highly recommended!
