My hubby and I needed something to do between attending an event downtown and dinner, so we decided to try a few bars. Those plans devolved into just sitting and enjoying the Highlander for close to 3 hours. The drinks were incredibly yummy, the view was gorgeous, and the staff was very kind and friendly. We really enjoyed the duck fat fries, which tasted divine. I thought the atmosphere was a really good mix between classy and casual, and the mosaic floors and brass finishing made the place feel old-timey and elegant. We will definitely come back next time we have a chance!

We had a wonderful time celebrating my sister-in-law’s 50th birthday at the Hotel Renegade over the weekend. We decided to head upstairs to the Highlander so the ladies could enjoy some drinks for the evening. The whole experience was truly enjoyable! We’re lucky to have such a cozy sitting area with a stunning view—the rooftop! The staff team was fantastic and made everything even more special!

I can’t say enough good things about the Highlander, it’s always the highlight of my trips to Boise. Great vibes, beautiful views, and seriously amazing cocktails make this place a must-visit every time.

Pro tip: ask to sit in Amanda’s section. She’s friendly, super efficient, and knows the cocktail and food menu inside and out, exactly the kind of server you hope for on a great night out.

Do not leave without ordering the Birdcage Flight for Two (so fun and totally worth it), and whatever you do, don’t miss A Pigeon Walks Into a Bar. Trust me on this one, so yummy, you might have to order more than one.

We had a girls night here on a Saturday evening (around 9pm), and what we loved about this place is:

*Beautiful view of the city
*The chill laid back atmosphere
*Plenty of seating overall (open seating)
*Drinks were good
*Good selection of music

What we didnt like:

*Not so much options for drinks
*Wished they would close a little later
*Paid parking and a hassle to look for parking in downtown.

Overall we enjoyed our time here. Do recommend if you want a chill bar vibe and not so much craziness happening. Valet parking is available at $5/per hour (if I’m not mistaken)

Beautiful rooftop bar, inside and out. The inside was decorated with plush velvet and lovely tables, but the outside rooftop area was where we decided to get our drinks! It has a great view of Boise and our server was so friendly and attentive. My espresso martini was one of the best I’ve ever had.

Unique experience with nice views. It was pretty crowded so we stayed at the bar the whole time. Drinks were ok, espresso martini okay, but not the best. Food was also just okay, pretty big portions for appetizers. Servers were busy, but like other reviews say, not the friendliest.

A local staff from a winery recommended us this place. No reservations available so it’s first come first serve. Drinks and food came out quickly. We ordered the bird cage. Yummy! Drinks were delicious.

This bar may have mastered ambiance, but it delivers the worst bar service I’ve ever experienced—and that’s saying something.
The bartender openly ignored customers for extended periods. No acknowledgment. No “I’ll be right with you.” Nothing. Just deliberate avoidance. To make it even more surreal, they wore an earbud the entire time—because apparently whatever was playing was more important than the people standing directly in front of them trying to order drinks or pay.
I was with two other people, and all three of us have worked in the service industry. We are patient to a fault. We understand bad nights, staffing issues, and burnout. We tip well and give grace freely. For all of us to walk away frustrated means this wasn’t a rough shift—it was outright neglect.
It’s genuinely impressive how a place with such a beautiful, thoughtfully designed atmosphere can be completely undermined by service so inattentive it borders on disrespectful. A great bar isn’t just mood lighting and decor—it’s hospitality. And that was nowhere to be found here.
If you want to admire a room while being made to feel invisible, this is your spot. If you actually want a drink without feeling like an inconvenience, look elsewhere.

Great views. Enjoyed the guacamole and the drowned artichoke though my sister says the artichoke was too greasy for more than a bite or two. I thought the chips were too thin. I really liked the NA drinks including the apricot spritz and the lo lo jito.

Nice rooftop patio in downtown Boise. This is a cocktail bar and lounge so they only have a limited food selection. The service was good with someone always around to get drinks. Two out of our three food options were really good, the third was very bland. We got drinks and food on a 95° day and they have shaded or sunny areas with misters. The east facing views are the best, as the south only views buildings and tree tops.
