I tried, I really did. I have ordered from Hideaway a few times and had rough experiences each time. Tonight was the straw that made me want to post this publicly though. I ordered a dozen wings and a Horseradish Hero tonight and was disappointed again. Let me start with the positive aspects first. The bread, meat and veggies were all fresh. The flavor on the wings was nice too. It had a nice kick and in my opinion they were a true medium intensity. Here are the negatives though. The wings are smaller but the price is higher than others in the area. I also asked for the horseradish mayonnaise on the side. It wasn’t on the sandwich (good), but it also wasn’t in the bag (bad). The biggest issue I had tonight is this though; the $10 half hero had a minimal amount of meat on it, especially when compared to the amount or arugula that was loaded on top. See my photos vs the sandwich photos on their website. This makes the sandwich feel cheap and like the main goal was to save money…all in all, it was a meal and if someone orders from there, I might try again, but I wouldn’t go out on my own to get it.

My wife heard good things about the Hideaway and, so far, they were right. I was blissfully unaware that anyone had moved in to the old Junior’s Restaurant behind the Burger King in Colchester until my wife showed me some pictures of the Crazy Shakes this place offers. This was our 4th indoor eating experience we’ve had since we got our Covid vaccines and ventured out into the ongoing apocalypse.

Their online information said that reservations were strongly recommended so my wife made one almost a week in advance so we could take some family out for a thank-you dinner for a house project they helped us with. When we arrived we were informed that our reservation was for half an hour later. We eventually settled on the fact that there was no available seating and we were forced to wait until the later time.

Once seated, things went well. We asked if the giant soft pretzel could be rushed since my kids bloodsugar was crashing. Not a problem. The rest of the food came out in a reasonable time.

The food was good (and this time I got pictures!) I was a little disappointed in the $4 cheese and BBQ sauce that I got on my Fat Louie. I was thinking it would be more like poutine. It’s not. My wife ordered the P.E.I. Mussels. We left very stuffed and we didn’t even try one of their Crazy Shakes! I guess we’ll just have to go back!

There were many items on the menu and if you are looking for HUGE portions of STEAK, their smallest option was their Petit Sirloin at 6 oz. With several options between 10 and 20 oz. And of course the the Tomahawk Ribeye at something like 2 1/2 lbs. I only saw a picture and nearly went into a food coma…

I say 4 stars. Mainly, attempting to gaslight us on our reservation time is kinda lame. But also, if you are this close to Canada, just put some real cheese curd on the fries. In fact, put your cheese and BBQ sauce over that too. I mean, for $4 extra… Poutine is a thing and it is good!

My husband has always wanted a Tomahawk Ribeye and we had just found out that they served them at the Hideaway. A bit pricey, but what isn’t these days. The steak was cooked to perfection and had great flavor. If you are looking for a really good steak, this is definitely a good option.

I came here for dinner a few days ago and we were able to get sat right away. I had a fall/harvest salad that was on their specials menu. It was pricey to add chicken to the salad so I needed up using chicken from my mom’s entree. I also ordered the pumpkin spice drink, which feasted like pumpkin pie in a glass. So good! Everything was delicious!

What a surprise! After lackluster take away from many spots, The Hideaway was a revelation. I had the turkey club and it was so big, filled with turkey, cheese, bacon, and lettuce (I’d asked for no tomato) that I could only eat half. Even half felt like it was too much. A side of onion rings rounded out my meal. The batter was light and didn’t weight down the onions. Just a really great sandwich and side.

I have eaten at the hideaway before and had good portions and inexpensive. Tonight I was so disappointed. I ordered fried pickles and a chicken tender basket. I asked the girl on the phone if fries came with it and she said yes so I said I will take them When I picked up my meal you can see by the picture that there was no fries. I went back in and told her and someone else came out and said “we revised our menu and fries are 3 dollars more. Then look at my.poor cheesecake slice. That tiny little thing was 5 dollars. I am so disappointed I will never go back and I will warn all my friends and family. Covid is not a reason to rip people off. Expensive 25 dollar meal so not worth it.

Amazing food. The Philly cheese steak and the corned beef reuben were on-point. The staff is friendly and the service is fast. Outdoor seating is a nice bonus to the food and drinks. Nice family-friendly atmosphere.

The special shakes and regular shakes here are absolutely on point. Is not a huge fan of the food as much but perhaps it was also just the day that we went. We will be going back especially for the milkshakes. I would also presume that dining in would taste a lot better than doing take out driving 20 minutes to get home and then settling in with the kids takes another 10 minutes so we weren’t able to eat our food until 30 minutes after we ordered and picked up that also could have a lot to do with it!!! We are looking forward to trying again sometimes soon.

This restaurant has had the greatest demise of any I have ever witnessed. When they first opened the food was great but recently the quality and services have plummeted and today was the final straw, we picked up a salad. When arriving home and opening up the container only to find no chicken in the salad that we paid for. We called and the phone was answered and put to one side and we was forced to listen to the kitchen stuff having a conversation for 20 minutes. Is this how you supposed to treat your returning customers? Because I’m afraid you have lost one in me. Below is the picture of the salad… Anyone reading this I recommend going to Bless Bee in Williston and South Burlington for better quality food and better service

Ordered a Philly with a side of coleslaw. The Philly was good, fresh bread, quality meat and ingredients. The coleslaw was very bad though. The cabbage was extremely bitter with almost no sauce in or on it.
