A classic dive bar… the drinks were strong but it was around 3:00 PM so maybe three others at the bar. The other (local?) clientele clearly were familiar with one another and I sense that energy may not be compatible with all people.

The Harp and Hound is a great pub tucked around the corner on the main street in Mystic. Just as you’re ready to collapse from the endless shops, you’ll find traditional pub favorite food, cold beer, and lively entertainment. The bartender greeted us, made us two delicious bloodies, and we knew we’d be back. Everyone was friendly, and the food looked delicious.

If you like dark old school drinking holes, this is the place. The bartender poured the perfect half and half. Best I’ve ever seen. Very cozy low-key tavern.

A fantastic locals hangout with great service. The Black and Blue Burger was yummy and a nice selection of draft beer.

Bartender shut off the jukebox after a customer played a song they didn’t like. The customer paid for the song. Politics aside, it’s childish and if you’re in the service industry you need to learn how to shut off your politics and do your job. It’s not difficult. Pour the drinks and give people an environment to break free from their daily grind. I’ll never return to this establishment again if that’s how they’re going to treat their customers.

Great, authentic Irish pub right off the main drag in downtown Mystic. The bartender, Jamie, was kind enough to open up a bottle of wine for me (which I purchased down the street). And then poured a perfect pint of Guinness! I took some popcorn shrimp to go, which was delicious, served with a great tartar sauce and aioli (or marinara sauce). My three year old absolutely loved it!

The food was very good. The service was great. The atmosphere was nice, I was able to have a conversation with my friends at our table without having to shout or anything.

It’s good to have a local pub, and the Harp and Hound is a good one to have. Intimate atmosphere, and probably the best pour of Guinness in Mystic. Good selection of other taps, too, full bar.
