The food here is truly phenomenal. I was really impressed by both the burrata appetizer and the risotto that came with my duck main dish. I was genuinely impressed. In terms of the libations the Whiskey flights on offer were top notch. I would definitely recommend any of the flights. The other drink fare was mostly standard (although nothing I tried tasted off). Overall I was really impressed by this place and the next time I’m in town I will definitely be coming back.

Amazing! It’s so nice to have this spot close to home. You don’t need to drive all the way into Portland to have great food and elevated cocktails. I’m going to make this a regular date night spot.

What a fun find! I love speak easys and this is a good one. The entrance is beautiful. We went on Saturday evening and we’re able seated right away. There was a live music duo, perfect for the cozy space, not too loud and we could still talk. This is a perfect place for adults to relax, unwind and enjoy great cocktails in a fun environment with a great vibe. The bartenders make very good cocktails. The Funky Monkey is a beautiful blended purple drink with rum. And the Duck Duck Booze is similar to an old fashioned with a tomato basil accent that goes surprisingly well. I’d definitely order it again. Service is friendly, relaxed and attentive, but don’t be in a rush. Enjoy the atmosphere. They serve food and we’ll try something next time. Highly recommend and we’ll be back.

Outstanding cocktails. Great service. Food is tasty. Beyond that the speakeasy vibe, hidden entrance and cool demeanor of the bar itself lend to a fantastic experience. Whether you are meeting your wife, coworkers or a small group this is a great spot to chill, dip and enjoy. Big fan of this joint!

Wowza!! What a gem! My coworkers and I had some work/libations to attend to and came in early on this rainy Saturday evening. We were promptly greeted by a kind hostess. Sydnee was our server and Will was our bartender. Our cocktails were out of this world and Will made sure to personally check on us and offer more after we downed the first round of deliciousness. Sydnee was great with suggestions and we had the Delictan, Burrata and mushroom appetizers that were all out of this world!! The garlic was on point!!! Ceasar salad came a little late but totally acceptable as we had a full table. We will absolutely be coming back for more “work” and snacking our way through the delicious menu and making sure Will pours us simply amazing cocktails! 5 star, non-intrusive yet attentive service from all. Bravo!

I love a speak easy and this one does not disappoint. Drinks are fabulous. Food is good and service is on point. The atmosphere is just what a speak easy should be…covert, and at the same time fabulous!lots of seating options from booths to table tops to couches. Lots of bar seating and a whiskey room round out the ambiance. Parking is a little lot and lots of street parking. Entrance is through the bar and down the stairs.

I visited The Hardware Store Cocktail Bar The Hive on a Saturday evening for appetizers and a drink. I had the crab cakes, which were delicious, and enjoyed a well-made cocktail while listening to live music. The atmosphere was lively and welcoming—a great spot for a casual night out.

Great little venue with a great atmosphere, but that’s about as far as the experience goes. The food desperately needs work, and the waitstaff was slow as molasses. (Also extremely forgetful) I went with a group, and we all left feeling underwhelmed by the food. My personal item I ordered appears to be missing from their menu now. Which is probably for the best. It was a hand pie and it was underfilled and overcooked. Most of the complaints from the group were in regard to the fact that everything was overcooked. Closely followed by the terrible service. I think the most frustrating part for me was that we were there early and it was not busy at all. It is a newer place. I’m sure they are working through the kinks, but this was a mediocre experience all around.

Oh! The weird Prawn Corn Dogs weren’t too bad.

I want to start by saying that I’ve always enjoyed my previous visits to this bar. I’ve been here several times with friends and have always recommended it, which is why it truly saddens me to say that this past weekend’s visit will be our last.

My husband and I came in for a couple of drinks and dinner. The bar wasn’t very busy, and a polite young man seated us in the back. We sat for about 10 minutes watching a male server, whose name I later learned is Will, check on the three nearby tables but never once acknowledge us. We assumed he wasn’t our server since he never made eye contact or said a word.

After about 10 minutes, Will came over, loudly set waters on the table with no greeting or introduction, then walked away.
Several minutes later, he returned and said, “What can I get you?” We ordered our drinks, and his only response was, “Cool,” before walking off again. He didn’t ask if we wanted to start with anything, even though it was clear we had been waiting for quite some time.

About 25 minutes after we arrived, our drinks finally came out. Will asked, “Who had what?” I had ordered a red drink that came with a lemon that lit up something my husband and I thought was neat so we started to record it. Will threw some cinnamon over it, quickly shoved the lemon into my drink, said, “Cheers,” and walked away. Normally, servers take a moment to explain the drink or make it interactive, but the rushed, dismissive attitude made the experience uncomfortable.

He never returned to ask if we wanted to order food, so I went to the bar and asked the bartender (a young woman) if we could please have a different server because ours seemed too busy to tend to us. She quickly responded yes. Will overheard and said, “I am your server and I’ll be right over.” I told her again, “I’d like a new server,” and Will immediately replied, “NOPE, I’ll be your server,” before walking away. I repeated my request to the bartender, but she said, “Well, he’s in your section.”

At that point, I no longer felt comfortable staying and asked for my check. Will came over and asked, “You ready to order?” I told him, “We’ll just be having our drinks.” He laughed and said, “You already have drinks,” before finally saying, “OKAY,” and walking away. (It was clear both bartenders had spoken; he was aware I wanted my check, yet continued to act like nothing had happened.)

We came out hoping to unwind after a long day but instead left frustrated, hungry, and disappointed. I’m leaving this review because if customers don’t speak up, servers like Will will continue to drive loyal guests away. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning or recommending this bar anymore. No guest should ever be treated the way Will treated us.
