I visited The Happy Spot last night for the first time since the new owners took over, and it was a night-and-day difference from my visit a couple of years ago when ran by previous owners. The biggest improvement is the taste and quality of the food; it’s on a completely different level. I know others may disagree with me from the past, however, the chicken I had before new ownership had a strange flavor – leaving me not wanting to return. It could have been just a bad experience but worth mentioning, as The Happy Spot has always had a reputable name.
I ordered the quarter chicken (light) and the rest of my group had the chicken strips; we all left completely satisfied. While the food was great, I did find myself wishing they still had a salad bar, which was something I really enjoyed during my previous visit.
The staff appeared very busy, but the service didn’t miss a beat. They seemed to be having a minor issue with the kitchen exhaust—it was a little smoky inside—but honestly, it just added to that “backyard grill” aroma we all look forward to as Midwest weather warms up. The owner even stopped by our table twice to make small talk and ensure everything was exactly what we ordered.
It’s clear the new team is passionate about what they’re doing. Great job to the staff and owners—keep that same level of enthusiasm! I hope my review helps others in the area decide to give this place a try.

Sunday night I came here with family and we were not completely satisfied with our visit. There was confusion with the waitress and kitchen after we 3 ordered the best of both worlds on separate tickets even though the place was pretty well empty. Food was pretty okay for overcooked chicken strips and burgers with less than fresh burger toppings, but for coming out of our way, I personally would not return.

Stopped in on a whim and it did not disappoint. The owner AND his son were more than welcoming and the bartender Celina was phenomenal.
The food was Aaaaammmazing. Chicken strips were sooo good.

The Happy Spot has great food and farm decor. The tables have plenty of room to get around. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. We went on a week night and could get right in. We ordered cocktails and browsed the menu. They have a nice salad bar and our food came in a timely manner. The chicken and fish were delicious. It takes us about an hour to get there but it’s worth the trip.

Came here for our annual Christmas party. Food was good, just not fond of instant mashed potatoes, they were ok. The beef is very good and so is the chicken. Really like how they decorated, a very nice touch. The bartender was the only one working and she was very busy. We would go for dinner there again.

I haven’t been here for 25 yrs but joined some friends for dinner. Very good food, just as I remembered. Our nutty waitress (Casey) was a lot of fun and we could tell she was a person that loves her job. Her ability to take sarcasm made our evening very enjoyable. good food/good service.
