I stopped at Happy Goat on a trip from DC and was happily surprised! The space is really nice and comfortable, and the customer service was great. I’m gluten free so don’t often get to eat at delis, but they had delicious gluten free bread and a ton of options! I ordered a turkey sandwich and thought it was delicious – it was not dry and the cheese was perfectly melted. They also gave me two smaller sandwiches to make up for the smaller gluten free bread! I highly recommend and will be returning 🙂

This place is awesome! We came here for a lunch date and the food was amazing! I personally got the French dip , sooo good! I highly recommend this to anyone in this area or just visiting. It’s a nice comforting , cozy spot to enjoy your food or just chat.

Drove from Richlands Va to Tazwell Va and had the best deli meal at the Happy Goat. The deli sandwiches are stacked full of fresh cut Boars Head meat. Had a hot pastrami and a ham and cheese sandwiches. I also recommend a side of chili and a side of homemade potato salad. This is a great place, very clean and welcoming. Last but not least the staff, Joe and Janetta ( hope the spelling is correct) could not have been more gracious. What an enjoyable lunch. I moved to Virginia from Upstate New York and this place reminds me of a New York deli. I will be a returning customer. Update I did return and ate again at the Happy Goat during the taste of Appalachia.

Stopped in for lunch while visiting the area. We enjoyed our sandwich, salad, Route 11 chips, iced tea, and lemonade. Picked up a long sleeve T-shirt as a souvenir of a good time. Worth the trip!

Had a great visit, staff were friendly, food was delicious. Restaurant as a whole was clean.
We ordered Italian wedding soup, the reuben and a spicy Italian. All were excellent. No fountain drinks, just cans or bottles. Prices weren’t cheap, but quality was high.
I loved the decor and the view of downtown.

Well. To start, we walked in about 12 minutes before she was closing. We asked what the she closed. She said “4, but please feel free to order and eat. ” so we did. That chicken salad is so good. We got it to go. We ordered a special, which was the amazing Turkey, bacon Sammie with chips. We also got a small tatey salad. Lol. I love this place. We will definitely be going back.
