This was worth the drive from Roseville! We got there when they opened and beat the crowd. This place smelled of great smoked meat from the moment we walked in the door. The interior had a welcoming mid century/industrial decor. My wife ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich, and I got the Brisket sandwich. The meats were juicy and flavorful and the portions were large. Between us, we got one of each of the sides (except for the Caesar salad). All of the sides were great! We ranked our preference of sides as follows: #1 Baked Beans, #2 Smoked Gouda Mac & Cheese, #3 Potato Salad and #4 Chipotle Coleslaw. You really can’t go wrong with any of them, and the sides come in good sized portions as well. This place definitely took care of the BBQ craving!

Heard about this place from my Facebook feed. It sounded amazing, so we tried it. Oh my gosh you guys, it was so good! Walking in I was impressed by the trendy sheik retro cowboy vibe. We both ordered the brisket platter with the smoked Gouda Mac and Cheese. It was delish!!! The flavors of the meat were amazing. So soft and tender, it almost melts in your mouth. The owner Brent is so nice. Our food didn’t take long to arrive, maybe 15 mins. The beers was good and cold! This place is a definite go back again place. Thank you for the great meal!

We spent our Valentine’s Day at Hangry Herd’s and it did not disappoint! Food and atmosphere is great AND they are dog friendly! All of the food we tried was absolutely delicious! I recommend this place to everyone looking for good BBQ (so much better than Daddy O’s, Boss Hog and Tank House!) The owner Brett provided the best customer service and was very helpful. We can’t wait to come back!

I stopped in on a Saturday afternoon for a late lunch after seeing the commercials, the Instagram posts, and plenty of positive reviews. The location is great—right on the corner off Sunrise, across from Home Depot—so I figured it was finally time to give it a try.

Walking in, the atmosphere was really nice. The guy behind the counter was friendly, explained their process, and let us know there would be a bit of a wait. We all ordered the ribs and brisket platter with two sides. He told us it would take about 30–40 minutes, which seemed reasonable for barbecue.

We grabbed a table outside, ordered a couple of beers and a soda, and I have to say—the hard cider was incredible. I don’t remember the brand, but he mentioned it was local, and it was definitely a standout.

While we waited, I watched the pit master going back and forth between the pits and the barbecue area, which was reassuring. When the plates came out, everything looked great. I chose baked beans and potato salad. The beans were excellent; the potato salad was just okay—not bad, but nothing special.

The brisket had a nice smoke ring, good flavor, and wasn’t dry, which I appreciated. The ribs were sauced, but not with a traditional barbecue sauce—more of a grilled-style glaze. Still tender, still pulled clean off the bone, and overall very good.

My only real critique is the trio platter. You can’t choose your meats—it comes pre‑selected. Personally, I like being able to customize, especially if I want double ribs, double brisket, or a mix like tri‑tip, ribs, and brisket. Adding a “choose your own trio” option would be a great improvement.

One of the regulars came in while we were eating and told me their brisket sandwich is amazing, so that’s what I’ll be trying next time.

All in all, the food was really good, the service was friendly, and the atmosphere was solid. I’d love to give it five stars, but the wait time was a bit excessive for my taste. So for now, it’s a strong four stars—and if the wait is shorter next time, I could easily bump that up to five.

We had such a great experience here and can’t recommend this spot enough. The owner and manager were incredibly accommodating and welcoming, especially in allowing us to host a groomsmen proposal dinner in their private room. From the very beginning, reserving the space was easy and stress-free.

The manager went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and taken care of and even the owner—who I spoke with on the phone—came across as such a genuinely great guy. You can really tell they care about their guests.

The food was delicious, the atmosphere was cool and inviting, and the whole night felt effortless thanks to their hospitality. If you’re looking for a spot with great food, great vibes, and even better people behind it, this is it. Thank you Hangry Herd.

This was my second visit to The Hangry Herd. The first time we had a reservation for 7:00 P.M. but upon our arrival (early arrival, no less) we were turned away because they were out of food. We were told, “we took too many walk-ins.”

This time, we made our reservation for 4:30 P.M. we arrive early, and were able to order and sit immediately. We ordered the Trio-Platters with baked beans and potato salad and the Mac and cheese. All of the meats were delicious. I was pleasantly surprised at how moist the chicken was, with really good flavor. The baked beans though? Absolutely delicious. I would go back just for those.

Overall it was very good, the place was clean, staff was friendly, and I feel like I got a decent amount of food for my money.

The only thing I would suggest to the owner is that the labels on the sauces have larger print. The sauces were good, but it was super hard to read the flavors.

We drove out from New Mexico to visit family and decided to try a new restaurant for our last night. They had great service and were very patient with us while we decided on our order. The beans were my favorite and the mac and cheese was my husband favorite side. My boys loved the tri tip. We tried the trio platter. The chicken was really good. The pork and brisket had good flavor but we must have got the section that was almost all fat.
The atmosphere was relaxing and we would go back again.

Stopped in for Happy Hour, which we find out they don’t have. Very long lines each time you want to order, anyway we ordered the brisket, excellent choice, my brother ordered the chicken, and he said it tasted like a frozen piece heated up and BBQ sauce was added, bad choice. With the $10 beers, not the best experience.

Thanks for the response, you may want to educate the wait staff then, first thing I asked him was, “what was the happy hour specials”, and his reply was we don’t have one, and we’ve never had one……………..
OK…. so I guess there is some miss communication…??

Brett was amazing! The service was so personal!!
The food was delicious . We had the trio and our LO had pulled pork. The brisket was so tender! Everything was flavorful without being too salty!
The place was clean and stylish. They were even fre tampons in the bathroom- those little touches go such a long way we dined inside but admired this area for our puppy when we come back

Under staffed, and overpriced!
Waiting 40 minutes is unacceptable when there’s NOBODY ahead of me!
Staff will walk around the restaurant, but avoid clearing tables that were empty for the 1.5 hours I was there!
NOBODY moves with a purpose.
The portions are incredibly small for the price.
The music is irritating.
The food is dry, and cold, but the presentation was nice.
They ran out of ribs and brisket, so they served me pork and chicken instead !
It’s not the kind of place I would want to return to, but worth visiting and creating your own options.
