The Hangar On The Wharf has been located in Downtown Juneau at Historic Merchants Wharf since 1996. Our restaurant honors Southeast Alaska aviation history, and in the summer you’ll still see float planes landing and taking off right in front of your table. We serve fresh Alaskan seafood of all kinds, plus our award winning soups and salads, hearty burgers, hand cut steaks, pasta, and of course King Crab! Our full-service bar has the largest beer selection in Juneau, with 24 tap handles and 80+ more bottles and cans in the fridge. Our view is unmatched, but you’ll keep coming back for the food and service excellence.
Varied fare & 20+ beers on tap in a converted airplane hangar (with large windows) on a wooden pier.

Prices land in that familiar Alaska–port-city zone, leaning high, but the portions arrive like they’ve been bulking up for winter. No one left hungry.
Our party of eight did hit an early snag. Instead of pushing a pair of four-tops together, the team wedged us into a booth clearly meant for six, then added chairs like an afterthought. When we asked for alternatives, the response wasn’t exactly warm. Service after that floated between attentive and oddly absent, depending on the moment.
Still, once the food arrived, the kitchen redeemed quite a bit. Salads came loaded with actual personality instead of a mountain of lettuce. The halibut fish and chips were crisp, generous, and extremely satisfying. Chowder landed in steaming, oversized bowls, and the burger held its own against the seafood crowd.
Despite a few service missteps and the seating saga aside, The Hanger delivers hearty plates and a classic waterfront view, especially for anyone craving Alaska comfort food.
Salmon: Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Came with a doll sauce on the side.
Rice: Was a great starch choice for the salmon.
The broccoli was covered with a generous amount of some of the best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had. All in all a wonderful choice. Sammy says that I should have the halibut next time so I guess when I’m back next week I’ll try it out. Totally recommend coming here. The food great but the service and the view are incredible. Thank you, Sammy!
This is a busy place and usually there is a wait about 20 mins. We ordered lazy suzy, king crab, fettuccine and the soup. The soup was delicious and savory. The highlight is the crab meat, very fresh. Visit if you can and support local business
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. I tried the “chowder of the day,” made with halibut and salmon.
It was the best chowder I’ve had in Alaska—so creamy and flavorful. It came with sourdough bread and crackers. The garlic-flavored bread was served hot, which made it even better.
Overall, I had a wonderful lunch and would highly recommend this place.
