The Hangar On The Wharf has been located in Downtown Juneau at Historic Merchants Wharf since 1996. Our restaurant honors Southeast Alaska aviation history, and in the summer you’ll still see float planes landing and taking off right in front of your table. We serve fresh Alaskan seafood of all kinds, plus our award winning soups and salads, hearty burgers, hand cut steaks, pasta, and of course King Crab! Our full-service bar has the largest beer selection in Juneau, with 24 tap handles and 80+ more bottles and cans in the fridge. Our view is unmatched, but you’ll keep coming back for the food and service excellence.

Varied fare & 20+ beers on tap in a converted airplane hangar (with large windows) on a wooden pier.

The Hanger is right over the water with huge windows that lets Juneau show off a little. It’s a quick stroll from the port, and the whole space feels built for locals and groups rolling in after a day on the water.

Prices land in that familiar Alaska–port-city zone, leaning high, but the portions arrive like they’ve been bulking up for winter. No one left hungry.

Our party of eight did hit an early snag. Instead of pushing a pair of four-tops together, the team wedged us into a booth clearly meant for six, then added chairs like an afterthought. When we asked for alternatives, the response wasn’t exactly warm. Service after that floated between attentive and oddly absent, depending on the moment.

Still, once the food arrived, the kitchen redeemed quite a bit. Salads came loaded with actual personality instead of a mountain of lettuce. The halibut fish and chips were crisp, generous, and extremely satisfying. Chowder landed in steaming, oversized bowls, and the burger held its own against the seafood crowd.

Despite a few service missteps and the seating saga aside, The Hanger delivers hearty plates and a classic waterfront view, especially for anyone craving Alaska comfort food.

Great place, good and fast service. It is quiet busy specially during the high season. The decoration is lovely and it has amazing views. I tried the Halibut burger and the fish was delicious. I didn’t find it expensing considering it was Halibut and it was really well cooked.

Second time here, had some appetizers and a beer last time…it was great. Came in today, sat and watched the game. Sammy was amazing, had lovely suggestions for food and was genuinely happy to be around. The food was wonderful. I had the local salmon filet with rice and broccoli.

Salmon: Cooked and seasoned perfectly. Came with a doll sauce on the side.
Rice: Was a great starch choice for the salmon.
The broccoli was covered with a generous amount of some of the best hollandaise sauce I’ve ever had. All in all a wonderful choice. Sammy says that I should have the halibut next time so I guess when I’m back next week I’ll try it out. Totally recommend coming here. The food great but the service and the view are incredible. Thank you, Sammy!

Located in the heart of Juneau, next to port where usually Quantam of the seas docks in the blue colored building next to it.

This is a busy place and usually there is a wait about 20 mins. We ordered lazy suzy, king crab, fettuccine and the soup. The soup was delicious and savory. The highlight is the crab meat, very fresh. Visit if you can and support local business

Visiting. Abby was an absolute gem! We sat by the bar and were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery from our seats. The establishment is ADA friendly (ample space for my husband to navigate his electric wheelchair) and has a very cool vibe. We ordered the oysters, Caesar salad, wings, and pretzels. All were great choices.

Great atmosphere! Watched planes landing and taking off on the water. We ordered the seafood chowder and the grilled salmon. Salmon was way over cooked, dry and leathery. Sent it back to the chef, the second one was better, but not great.

The location is excellent with ocean view, it opens at 11 am, so we lined up as first in order to catch up our cruise ship. The King Crab was very good and fresh, the salmon could be better. The service was nice and quick.

I really enjoyed the crab here and the salmon soup. I didn’t think the salmon soup in the bread bowl was going to be that good but it was honestly the best thing on the menu besides the crab. I also tried some of the shrimp but those were just so so. The prices were reasonable for Alaska, especially in a tourist area. We sat outside and got a great view of some of the sea planes landing. It was a perfect evening and the weather was just right in early September. It’s in a short walk from the cruise ships and there are buses. That’ll take you back-and-forth to the downtown area. I definitely recommend checking out this area even if you don’t eat at this restaurant, but if you do it at this restaurant, then you’ll enjoy the food because it was very delicious.

The food was very good. I had the Halibat Fish and Chips with the Salmon Dip. My drink was never empty. Service was very good. The Fish and chips had great fresh flavor and cooked perfectly. The salmon dip was a bit heavy. I’d either want more pita chips or just less dip.

The line is long, but definitely worth it!
The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. I tried the “chowder of the day,” made with halibut and salmon.
It was the best chowder I’ve had in Alaska—so creamy and flavorful. It came with sourdough bread and crackers. The garlic-flavored bread was served hot, which made it even better.
Overall, I had a wonderful lunch and would highly recommend this place.
