We had a chance to eat lunch for the first time at The Grumpy Monk in Carolina Forest today and the service and food was awesome. Almost everything that we ordered was made from scratch, large portions, and very tasty. Nathan our server did an amazing job. The only thing that was so-so was the frozen French Fries. I think fresh cut French Fries would have made our meals so much better.

My friends and I came for dinner after a conference on the recommendation of a local. The atmosphere was fun, lively and so much to look at. We each tried something different, from the fried yum yum shrimp, brussel sprouts, fried fish & shrimp, sandwiches and burgers. All of us enjoyed our meals (except for the tots, they were kinda crispy but gummy in the center). Our waitress was very grumpy and seemed to be having a bad day… made it a bit awkward and hard to clarify for service but the food was fantastic. There was a live band and it wasn’t so loud it was perfect volume for us to enjoy the music and conversation. Strange side note: the frosted glass squares that cover the door of the bathroom stalls are not private. Easy to see the person inside sitting and scrolling on their phone. Makes it a bit uncomfortable if you have to go. If you’re in the area you should definitely give this place a try.

I dined with this great server, Emilie, the other day. She was very attentive. Kept my drink full (I drink like a fish so this is very important lol). I was indecisive on what I wanted but I knew I wanted something light. She showed me the build your own salad section and I made the perfect salad just for me paired with monk turds. Sounds gross but so so good. Definitely will be back and requesting her when I do!!!

Food was lovely and beautifully presented. I wanted a nice quiet meal and I got what I was looking for. They checked on me several times and made sure I always had a drink. Staff was kind, courteous, and prompt. Will definitely return.

We had a fantastic time at The Grumpy Monk! The wings were crispy and flavorful, the burger was juicy and cooked perfectly, and the wrap was fresh and delicious. Great beer selection, too! Our server, Emilie, was amazing—super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Can’t wait to come back on our next trip through!!

So food, we just touched the menu with some appetizers. Spring rolls and fried green tomatoes were on point.
Service- highly impressed. Kayla was our bartender and was not only helpful for food and drinks but also other local places to visit. The relationship between the Kayla and the servers seemed great and she was on point for not only our order but the servers customers as well. Suggest a raise or she will be picked up elsewhere.
Atmosphere – Great! Perfect spot to show up, watch a game and enjoy. If your game is not on just ask. They are happy to help.
Overall on point. Kudos to the work environment. You have a great team. Best keep them round.

This is our third time here and the food is consistent and good. The drinks are always a hit, my husband loves the beer and if you get there at happy hour you can have cheaper appetizers! It’s nice to have a selection of food too, so everyone is happy. I did 4 stars for atmosphere because it’s just loud in there when it’s busy- but it’s “normal” so go check them out!

Finished up 18 holes just down the road, and while making our way back, the traffic was deadlocked, so we pulled in to kill some time and grab a bite. Wasn’t overly busy at the time. We were sat quickly, and the bartender was over taking our drink orders. It picked up before we left, but the bartender never lacked on our service. The menu is fairly large, with a little of everything. One of us got some smoked wings and said they were the best he had ever had. 2 got burgers, one coming with wings as side. They both said the burgers were good. I got some sushi, which was fine, nothing amazing, but solid. Has a good vibe to the place, especially to watch sports. They had some buffalo oyster bellies I wanted to try, but I filled up on my sushi, so it gives me a reason to come back. They had a good Happy Hour section as well. Everything was spot on 1st experience!

Highly Recommend. 5/5. My fussy 2 year old would not stop crying and the manager (Hannah) asked if she could help so we allowed her and she not only got him to stop crying but made laugh and smile non stop!

Had a Philly cheesesteak and onion rings. Delicious. Best this side of Pat’s or Gino’s in Philadelphia. Service was very good. I recommend it
